dude, you can sync it without running through a gate. set the bpm the same and you are good to go. what u r doing is synching, but it completely changes it's sound. i like it, but maybe not the best title for the video...but still cool. :)

well whats ina title anyway, this is an old video. but setting the tempo the same is not a sync.. this technique creates a very tempo based groove, and its in phase, just setting the tempo the same doesnt always produce nice results... so i like this effect..

you do have to be sharp and have a good ear or things get tricky when syncing. myself not so concerned with a bit of phasing, would be if i thought the Ko-1 was designed for recording, but let's be realistic...not the best for recording, and you could correct the phase problem in the post. prod. right? i use it purely for live, so if you are on it there shouldn't be a problem at all. the gate trick is old though, 1980's style. but still very useful, with lots of different equipment as a bridge.

On ebay the er-1 are around 100 dollars plus shipping. Try to find a local shop that has them and compare the prices. The boombox is a "kaboom" by jvc? But it's model is "kaboom" .
