I don't agree with your terming us as 'deviant'. Catholics made us so for the last two thousand years, however for the thirteen-thousand or so before that, we were just as normal as anyone. There are documented historical items showing gay marriage back in the Sumarian days, so be careful how you word things. You almost come off self-hating. I didn't choose to love men, I was born this way, so I would never use that wording to describe myself. Don't follow: lead.

In addition, from an evolutionary standpoint, homosexual relationships do not produce offspring, which is truly disadvantageous... indeed, we could use a lot of the positive qualities that are stereotypically found in homosexual persons in many more people... the world would be a better place. There is an argument linking the presence of homosexuals to more fertile female relatives, so perhaps that circumvents the apparent peculiarity.

Actually, according to the Kinsey study, 'most' (80%) are degrees of bisexual with only 20% equally divided into homo and hetero categories. As to an evolutionary standpoint, the same reasons apply as in the animal kingdom; population control. It is natural to have those not pro-creating to stem the flow of off-spring. These points are fairly well known, and if you do some research, you will start to see just how common and 'normal' being gay is. Deviants to me are more the S & M types.

Some very good points there, acciojosh. However, I would not opt to rely on the data obtained from Kinsey's studies as much as one might initially want. Indeed, the research methodologies and statistics are frequently criticized, and I simply wouldn't rely on it as being 100% accurate. Although you say that 80% of people are neither exclusively homo or heterosexual, much less than 10% of people actually recognize and acknowledge their homosexual orientation.

As for your evolutionary argument, natural selection does not select for whole populations. Instead, it selects for individuals in the population, and over time, the population evolves. Even if I am wrong in asserting this, think about it. Let's say that I am a dog and I possess a mutation that makes me not like female dogs. I will not be nearly as likely to pass that genetic element onto any offspring because I will never want to have sex with a female dog. You see where I'm going...

I do disagree with your assertation that 'much less than 10% of people' acknowledge their homo-orientation. That is a fairly commonly held statistic. As to the evolutionary standpoint, my standing there was shaky in the least. There are many studies on the matter, none conclusive. However, it is a well known fact...

This means that no matter how we justify it, or how we try and lay claim to its existence, it does exist and it is not a deviation of the norm by scientific standards. It is a deviation only to the established 'accepted' standard created by society, though well known through literature to be ignored for all of the time it was unaccepted.

Well, I appreciate your concern, but I really have no issues with it. I do not see myself as a deviant, I merely see homosexual behavior as something that is a deviation from the norm as perhaps, as you have stated, defined by society. Even if it is not a deviation in terms of evolution, etc, it is still a deviation in terms of what a majority of the societies in the past and present have defined as "normal sexual behavior". But, don't worry, I'm perfectly happy with who I am :)
