I have been to Kyiv three times and Yalta once. Ukraine is neat. I stayed on Pushkinskaya street. I often went to the Deja Vu club not far from the Opera House. There is a good restaurant next door to get a good meal. The Beatles sang, "The Ukraine girls really knock me out, they leave the west behind." This is true. Be careful crossing the Dnipro River at night. It can be dangerous if you take a taxi driver back to the center. Don't drink too much. Ukraine does have history.

Memories of all-afternoon dinners in the garden of an old collective farm .. such generosity, so much love. I long to visit again; my heart remains in Ukraine, I think, with so many memories of so many wonderful times.

Kiev is an amazing city! I have just returned from my third trip! and my 5th trip to Ukraine overall. I stayed in a nice apartment at the bottom of Kostelnaya Street that overlooks Maidan! Lots of nice restaurants, night clubs, bars (Especially OBriens!) and just a great place to hang out!

Many thanks for this video. I have friends in Kiev, (Kyiv, Kneb), and have been there a number of times. Such wonderful, genuine people, who have been through so much. Memories of all-afternoon dinners in the garden of an old collective farm .. such generosity, so much love. I long to visit again; my heart remains in Ukraine, I think, with so many memories of so many wonderful times.
The people of Ukraine are a very special, good and genuinely emotional people. God bless them all. David.

Kiev is an amazing city! I have just returned from my third trip! and my 5th trip to Ukraine overall. I stayed in a nice apartment at the bottom of Kostelnaya Street that overlooks Maidan! Lots of nice restaurants, night clubs, bars (Especially OBriens!) and just a great place to hang out!

thanks to the uploader, im sure Ukraine might be like germany, I lve in texas, my mother is German and I loved Europe when we went over there to visit her family, I couldnt believe how friendly the people were and open and trusting, Ukraine is interesting to me too because of Chernobyl, I want so badly to go and see Prypiat and the plant, as well as other parts of it, btw alot of the gilrs seem really nice and friendly which is cool, not so snobby and spolied like alot of the girlss over here.

I disagree - The soviet system was far more corrupt and damaging than free Ukraine is today - Ukraine is about 86 th on corruption scale and moving away from Russia which is worst on 109 - other ex warsaw pact countries all have improved too - little things like insisting on correct and official names Kyiv all make a difference to consolidating freedom in Ukraine

Cool video. I lived in Kiev for a year and it has a lot of potential, but has been devastated by the financial crisis. Ukraine has a lot of debt- The IMF keeps them afloat. People are NOT happy, they are depressed with a capital D. Life is hard for most of them. Still, I loved it there. Most people spell it Kiev. Kyiv is for trendy chic people. Like calling a garbage man a sanitation engineer.

It has nothing to do with being trendy or chic. "Most people" in Kiev speak Russian because Kiev has been historically a major hub of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. A majority of Kiev's population calls Russian their native language, therefore, calling it Kiev. Read Wikipedia, Mr Garbage Man.

I was in Moscow about 10 years ago, saw many Asian people there. The racist thing only comes up (rarely) if there's alcohol involved, just stay away from drunks and hobos and you should be ok. Same goes for Kiev, you should go, it really is beautiful.
