a Cavalier is what makes a paladin worth playing. They get some major resistance and with a high strength rating can kick ass with deamons and dragons. I think with a high strength and the Holy Avenger a cavalier can get near 50 hits out of the said enemies with one strike. If you played BG 1 and import from ToSC you should be at level 8 or 9 to begin.
Started playing this game today. Its just as disappointing as Neverwinter Nights 2. The game play is boring and the characters are poorly written. No body in the game is likable and there is nothing to make me care about what is going on. This game is highly overrated and is a stunted hack and slash that pretends to be a role playing game.
I love to multi-class (NOT dual class. I play a half-elf simply so I can multi-class.) Although for a first time player it's probably best to do a single class. :)
Dude dexterity is very good to have! it lowers your armor class, which is important for a fighter, or any character for that matter... i always go for 18 dexterity strength and constitution for fighters
This is by far the best RPG for the PC to date in my opinion. I've played this game to end only once, and I'm about to start a new character, I really CAN'T WAIT because I haven't played it such a long time!
I never got around to playing BG2 when it first came out but I've decided to give it a go now. Your walkthrough will come in handy if I get stuck, thanks!
Wisdom is a primary stat for people that can cast priest spells; Clerics and Paladins primarily. As for the specific results, I am not sure..I believe you will get more spells with a higher wisdom.
I've read that wisdom isn't too important for paladins because for some reason in the case of palidins it does not affect the number of spells you get. The internet has told me to minimize it!
@CDune23 don't forget druids! oh and as for specific results a character with higher wisdom can convince characters (mostly just ones you see pop up once in a while not party members) to let you do things that if you talked to that same character with a party member of lower wisdom couldn't, an example is a beholder you run into with Jaheira you can convince the beholder to let you look at something it's guarding without it trying to kill you
@CDune23 yup i confirm you get more spells for a cleric and maybe the bard too but im not sure for this one. Usually a paladin with 16 in wisdom is enough to cast all spells.
reason I always try to keep int at a reasonable level is because with int 3, if someone casts "maze," it'll take ages for your character to get free. You're right though: high dex will result in a a.c. bonus that comes in handy for a paladin.
I think it both has advantages and disadvantages..But because I always do all areas and collect all items, after a while nothing really matters anymore hehe :P.

I didn't realize Minsc and Jaheira were even there until I had gotten through half the level! I need to raise my intelligence.

I just started a Half-Orc Fighter/Cleric and its a pretty fun class, if anyone was considering it.

Tip. take int to 3 and put the extra 7 into dex, will make it alot stronger

Cool, I just found this and will be following it. I just did a walkthrough/lets play of Shadows of Alm and am now starting Throne of Bhall.
Great to see so many other people playing this game, and the different ways they play it. Keep up the good work!
