I also noticed how long Razor held the north. I have been looking for a game i could play,where people actually make an impact on the universe. I am tired of the same old grindfest, where developers change the landscape is Eve that game. just keep making it longer.

You should keep the current speed as well as the ability to jump directly to a specific year. That way everyone can actually see how the political landscape changes and at the same time skip the time they are not interested in watching. I didn't play EVE during the BOB wars but when I see this vid you get an understanding of the history of EVE and how it evolves. If you speed up to much it will just be colours flashing around for the smaller allianced and boom a powerbloc will have annihilated

Is there any way you can increase the contrast between the alliance names and their background colors. Especially on light colors it's pretty hard to make out.

Definitely suggest making it longer, rather than faster. If you speed it up, most of the little wars/skirmishes will get missed as it all whizzes by.
