@jonesy97 Awwwwwwww... Days ago i managed to cut this wonderful piano solo from their song :D Amazing that you mentioned it !! I wonder how many of us remember this one...
The melodic parts are mostly the best in so many songs. Let us not forget the intro and the mighty clash that then backgrounds this vocals "And I embrace bereavement Everything beloved is shattered anyway I would devote myself to anyone I would accept any flaws I am too weak to resist Tension vibrating with horror Finding the outcast in my eyes Pushing nerves on a puppet Endless poison in my veins Clean intent now tainted with death" Truly a clean masterpiece for its own !!
my current favorite is around the 10 minute mark in blackwater park when the song starts to end. it crushes your head and then blows your mind and goes out beautifully. perfection absolute.
It's hard to pick out a specific "special moment" from Opeth, just because there are so many. While Morningrise isn't one of my favorite albums by Opeth, it contains (probably) my favorite Opeth song moment. The guitar solo around 3:55 in the song "To Bid You Farewell" is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in my life and the entire song itself is something to behold. The only other song that gets my emotions going like that is the song "Ghost Love Score" from the band Nightwish.
Mikael, played in an old church, which is now a concert hall in Pittsburgh Pa. USA, and laughed his ass off as he said "never thought I would play in a church". Mikael should do stand up when he is not strumming, he has a great personality He also answered someones phone in the second row that night as a joke. so funny....
I bet TheGlockmeister100 never had so much replies to one of his comments like he has in here now :p Brothers and Sisters!! Let us behave decently from now on. Let love reign!! Let us watch the Steven and Mikael creating great stuff in studio vid!! The lovely vid i have masturbated so many times on!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Wow!! I got a tattoo of the Opeth "O" when I was sixteen and blackwater was their latest album and now I regret the shit out of it. Opeth has sold out and now sounds like just another road runner records piece of shit like the rest thanks opeth for giving up your creativity and making me look like another trendy asshole.
@TheGlockmeister100 How does making a progressive rock album = selling out? Selling out is changing your sound in order to gain more popularity. Opeth's latest album sounds the way it does because that's the sort of music Mikael is into. That is not selling out. Quit being butthurt.
@illithid29 I have an Opeth tattoo as well, Opeth represented a significant musical transition in my life where I became more tollerant of other music styles and opened the way for me to find other bands like Porcupine Tree, Oceansize, Sleepytime Gorilla Musuem, and ultimately Kayo Dot/maudlin of the Well which is now my favorite band that absolutely astonishes me. I'll never regret my Opeth tattoo, in fact, its my way of saying thank you to them for their impact.
@TheGlockmeister100 O cmon!! It is not good to dwell in the past, but... remember your thoughts when you got the tattoo ;) Wasn't it a good time? Imagine your painting would be a Snap logo :P So calm down now!! Opeth still rockz and always did!! HAIL Opeth :D
Are you fucking kidding me? If you were an open minded person, a real opeth fan, a appreciator of music you'd understand how awesome the new album is you're talking out of your fucking ass and btw why would you get a tattoo of a band are you fucking retarded?
@TheGlockmeister100 Wait what? They sound extremely far away from mainstream with hard to follow rythms more jazz / folk music inspired stuff.
This is further away from selling out than you possibly can come. This stuff usually sells less than extreme black metal. Altough I enjoyed their earlier stuff more, they have not sold out.
@TheGlockmeister100 how could you say they sold out, heritage is possibly one of the most least accessable and sellable albums, while i only like part of it, its totally a different direction for Opeth, yet it still retains opeth roots....i wonder if you know what selling out means...
@TheGlockmeister100 opeth did not sell out at all... if they did they woulda made albums just like blackwater park since that was their most popular they took a leap with heritage
@TheGlockmeister100 They sold out by making an album inspired by obscure 70s progressive rock? How is making even less commercial music selling out? Think...then type.
@TheGlockmeister100 Are you kidding? heritage is actually one of the most amazing progresive rock albums i have ever heard. Its amazing. Mikaels voice is awsome in the album.
@TheGlockmeister100 They're foremost a progressive band, they sound reminiscent of Rush or Dream Theater, if you've got a beef with that band then there some serious issues going on here man.
@TheGlockmeister100 Man you sound like a fucking hipster. Blackwater Park doesn't sound like ANY bands on RoadRunner. Are you fucking high?! Seriously you fan boys piss me off... The first couple albums they put out are the fucking gospel to you retards and anything after that is considered selling out. I've seen it so many times from so many different people.. I like old Opeth and I say Blackwater Park is their best. Fucking elitist!!
@TheGlockmeister100 Ive been listening to opeth for over 10 years and heritage was the deciding factor in me getting an opeth tattoo. i have a whole opeth themed sleeve that is not even close to being finished yet.
@TheGlockmeister100 dude that new cd is amazing and so was watershed and every cd before that. just because he is trying different ideas doesnt make him a sellout. this band is full of skilled musicians with 10 times the creativity most bands possess
@TheGlockmeister100 I bet you don't even know anything about Opeth, Akerfeldt himself, or the fact that you're just probably a fucking scene kid. Grow up, realize that music evolves or takes a different direction every once in a while. Opeth will always be the best thing that happened to my musical life, along with Pantera and Emperor. Their past efforts shall NEVER be forgotten... Remember that.
@TheGlockmeister100 Going from one of the most legendary and well known Death metal bands in the world, to exploring new genres ranging from the ever popular money making genres: Jazz fusion and 70's prog that was unknown even in the 70's like Magma, Gentle Giant and King Crimson.
I've always found it ironic that metal is the bastion of "individuality and creativity" but the moment a band tries something that makes them more unique and creative they get labeled as sellouts.
TOTALLY kidding. Opeth is above and beyond anything else musically today. I saw them live and it completely changed my perspective of music. Not that I was all chugga chugga before. But, they still made a huge impression on me.
This is amazing but, I still think the into to Karma is sooooo amazing Mikael's angelic clean vocals mixed with the following death growl its absolutley beautiful.
OPETH IS:
