Quite a charming film, particularly the 'Carpe dium...seize the day, and gather thy rosebuds while ye may' philosophy...however wouldn't it have been more fitting if Keating had punched that old fart in the nose?
I'm in college... During a lecture a fellow student jumped up on his desk and randomly spewed "Oh Captain, My Captain." Class of over 300 laughed hysterically. I think I was one of the few who knew what it was from...
i remember i insisted seeing this movie when it 1st came out saying it was inspirational, i was right, we went home jumping onto street benches hollering, my captain ,my captain, we felt inspired! It still inspires me!
Great movie and I agree that this is one of Robin Williams' best performances in a drama. I also liked him in Good Will Hunting when he worked with Stelan Saarsgard
That smug look on Mr Nolan's face when he makes Mr Keating leave just boils my blood. However, who gets the last laugh as all the kids call him Captain? Priceless
I Did this on the Last Day Of High School To My Teacher Mr. Knapp I actually Stood On my Desk And Said: O Captain, My Captain. My Teacher Smiled and Said "That's Why I'll Remember You. :) All the years I've Shown this movie Your the first to do that."
@utopikopako Pues no me lo tomes a mal ..
Great film, makes me feel good. But maybe it should have been re-written so that Todd's suicide PRECEDES this scene so that the feel story can end in a bitter victory? But who am I to improve?! Great movie. I'd love to see it all again on Blu-ray...
If you have ever been a teacher, this scene makes your ache with all teaching is about. There are the students who don't need you(they will be ok), the students who are beyond your help, and then the one you reach, whose life you change. What a moment when you know you did it.
@jazzyjetson Beautiful words one can find in youtube. You must be a scholar, but you don't need a degree to say what you did. You need a good heart. Sure you have it.
@jazzyjetson I agree. I think teachers are the most under payed and under appreciated people in our society. Being a teacher should be looked upon as one of the most prestigious jobs you can get. It's a huge responsibility. It's sad that people don't realize that, if they would, the educational system would be so much better. I've had some horribly shitty teachers but also some of the most inspirational persons I've met thought me much more than simply what was in their respective curriculum. TY
notice that the portrait behind the old pig is of Walt Whitam.. totally opposite to what he is teaching. the braveness and decency of Anderson is heartbreaking.

Iros a comer mierda putos grigos bastardos.Yo crei que era poesia de WW y sois unos gilipoyas de cuidado.
El texto es cuanto menos cuestionable y la "actuación" de los autodenominados
actores es simplemente basura.
