  • Zangbeto is a fetish which is part of Egungun cult practised among Yoruba and Fon in a pretty similar way.

The main puprose is to honour the Ancestors and in this ceremony a zangbeto fetish is giving birth to a protection fetish. Its priests are called Oje.

Siddone : easy to start spectulating specially when not involved. There's none inside.

  • everybody is free to believe what they want.

as a skeptic, I say that the movement of the Zangbeto in this video is rationally explainable with the simple presence of a man inside. but if you believe you can trust there is nobody. I won't blame you for this.

  • There are TWO men inside, this is the reason it is very huge, twice the others.

There is a moment when the other men lift it, and it drops a thing, wich is one of the two men inside, crouched under a veil. You can't see it, but on the top there was a plastic devil-shaped toy.

The man under the veil moves, and then the zangbeto start moving thanks to the second man wich is still inside.

Then they lift again the Zangbeto, with the man inside, maybe attached to something, and put it on the other.

  • you said: "there are two men inside, but it is said that it moves alone. they litf it to show that there is noone inside. "

I didn't understand! Is there man inside or not??

  • There is always someone inside but u need to understand charms exist. By the time they lift it up the person inside would have disappeared and u wont see anybody. This things are real. I am from Badagry, Nigeria and I av seen this live several times

  • I do understand charms exist. I'm part of an African religion too, if you don't know. However, what I find a bit queer is the fact that the "ritual" was recorded, watched by an audience, and posted on youtube hahahaha. It can't be real!! Not that the ritual itself is not real. But this one, in particular, can't be! As far as I know, this sort of ritual should be done secretly, behind close doors and stuff. Correct me, if I'm mistaken. Do you understand much about the ritual? xoxo

  • I didnt mean to say u werent an african. Alright if u think this is not real.

  • hehe I'm not African. I just said that I'm just an African religion FOLLOWER.

Anyway, thing is: I'd like to know if you know this ritual well, as you said you are from Nigeria, I just would like to have a word with you - this is: if you are willing to explain me the concepts of the ritual as I do not understand much yet.

    cheers

  • Zangbeto is the local masqurade of the egun pple. My parents are eguns and I was born & brought up there so zangbeto was something I saw on regular basis. I do not know the in-depth of the rituals involved bcos it is fettish. The only thin I want to leave u with is that it is real & this is by far the simplest of what I have seen b4. I av seen one where the zangbeto gave birth to a smaller one and the smaller one grew up to a bigger one as we watched. But how they do these things is beyond me

  • they told me it wasn't a "true" magic ceremony, it was only a "demonstration" for people in the village, for the children and the families (not for tourists, I think, because the village was difficult to find and we were introduced as "special guests").

the "true", magic vodou ceremony was during the night but only adepts could see it.

  • Thank you Siddone! All your posts are terrific! #1

  • the first time, one of the "drivers" crouch to the ground, and it is said he is a spirit. the second time, the other driver grabs the strucure and is lifted with it, to demosntrate there is noone inside - but you can see that eight men are necessary to lift it, so it's very heavy.

it drops a little demon-shaped fetish (actually, a carnival plastic "devil" toy on a rock) and then starts moving again, while the first driver, crouched on the ground, is covered with another empty zangbeto.

  • the zangbeto is the fetish for dead spirits.

people sing and dance to keep him under control. they must never touch him when it's moving.

there are two men inside, but it is said that it moves alone. they litf it to show that there is noone inside.

  • siddone u dont kno wat ur talkin about there is noo one inside it its a spirit thats dancing damn its funny how people are quick to jude what is new to them n not understand

  • I'm not a vodou believer but I'm graduated in Religious studies so I know what I'm speaking about. If you believe in it, you are free to do it and I respect you. But I, as a rational man, think that there is someone inside. it is far more reasonable to me then the existence of spirits. what i see is not a miracle, only a moving zangbeto and it is not sufficient to shake my rational way to think. I hope not to hurt your feelings, I respect your faith but I wish you respect my filosophy too.

  • @Siddone trust me siddone noone is inside it we live in a magical world and you dont even know it this knowledge has been lost else where africa is the only place thats been able to preserve this precious knowledge the western world has brainwashed and destroy this knowledge by enforcing science to explaine everything but wats funny is that science was only possible because of this same knowledge the top power elites know this

  • @Siddone trust me science cant explaine everything and this is one of those things its too complex and advanced for science because its spiritual my friend

  • @GunKlappa welcome to african vodun

  • @Siddone are you scared?

  • can somebody please explain this tradition
