When I saw the movie, the scene where Melanie slaps Jake wasn't in. Is there a reason that scene was cut out? Neither was the scene where the preteen-aged couple climb a cliff or whatever that was in the movie. Why cut those parts out?

Do you mean the part at the beginning where little Melanie and little Jake are walking on the beach and get struck by lightning? It's weird that this scene would be cut out because it's plays a part in the rest of the movie. Like that's why Jake decides to go into the glass-making business. :S

I saw it just once (but not the whole thing), but I never saw either scene.

The scene where Melanie slaps Jake was actually in the part at the dog cemetery when Melanie visits Bear's grave. It's right after Jake tells Melanie to go home after they kiss. Some dvds don't have that.

i love this song...its sooo beautiful and this has been my favorite movie for six years ever since i 1st saw it in theaters and up until now i can watch this film 30 times and never get tired of it...its sweet romantic and sad at times...its beautiful...but i really think they should have left jake kissing melanie at 2:02 on the head its just a sweet tender moment and reveals that he still loves her even tho she humiliated him...or a deleted scene at least...
