  • Jerry ..Lames ...LOL

  • Have you read some of the ghost stories of Bodie in the 1971 nonfiction book by the actor and psychic investigator Richard Webb called GREAT GHOSTS OF THE WEST?

  • I am sure there is a donation fund directly to Bodie through the National Parks System. God Bless

  • People say that it is bad luck to take something from Bodie, I wonder if it would be good luck to give something to Bodie.

  • It's amazing how much of the old west is still left out there -- even in places that aren't parks. Thanks for sharing these great images. Death Valley's ghost towns south of Bodie are well worth exploring as well. Nice job.

  • Used to see a lot of salvaged mining artifacts in Mojave that came from Bodie back in the late 40's and early 50's before it was protected.

  • Wow you were there at a great time. Too bad they didn't have digital cameras back then. But the pictures are all stored in you mind I'm sure. Thanks for the comment

  • I have tried to recreate those Images and other old mining operations in my work.

  • is that enyone still living there now ?

  • Just the Park Rangers. It was declared a State Historical Park back in the early 70's in order to preserve it as is, or as they say "Arrested Decay"

I began going their in 1969, when it was empty except for 4 rangers protecting it. Beautiful place. Magic

  • @Islandjerry it makes me glad to hear that it is a historical park, these kind of places need to be preserved for the future.

  • il be cruzn through there end of april!i lived in goldfield nevada for a few yrs,old towns are fantastic!

  • Did you get to Bodie in April?

  • i have ridden in by snowmobile all the way from bridgeport...it is very beautiful covered in snow and its loneliness is magnified

  • I first discovered Bodie in 1969 via a jeep. We were roaming around that area off road and came over a crest and saw this old town. It was in March with snow on the ground. We thought we had found a lost Ghost town. Didn't know the rangers were already living there to keep it from being looted until we met them just as we were about to open a nail shut door. Good thing as I'm sure we would have come home with some memorabilia. lol The Rangers were a great bunch of people.

  • Very nice work! I really enjoyed that video. My Great-great Uncle was james Stuart Cain, and I finally got to visit Bodie last year. It's a fascinating place.

  • Ella M. Cain is my great grandmother. You might think I;m crazy, but here's the deal: my mom is the grandaughter or Ella M. Cain.

  • I visited Bodie last year. It was a family reunion.

  • James Stuart Cain was the father of the husband of Ella M. Cain, Victor Cain.

    It's crazy.

  • i just went there two days ago and i will say one thing and this goes to everyone that goes there. dont go out the back way to the north because it goes 14 mi. and then it comes to a dead end where there is a big wash out that brought down a bunch of rocks right in the middle of the road. u can only make it thru if you had a realy nice 4x4 car or even better a rock crawler. but yeah good luck to who ever goes down that way because it is a tuff drive there.

  • Congratulations and thanks to Islandjerry. Excellent photography, well put together.

  • Make sure you have breakfast or lunch in Lee Vining at Nicely's. Good food.

  • our trip is scheduled for july 28th thru aug5th will

go back to the hot springs pool and travel out to Bodie again and stroll on down to mono lake

  • we've been to Bodie and it's awsome. i feel so funny when i'm there it's like eyes are watching you from beyound.

  • That's the magic of Bodie. Every time you visit something you discover something new. Perhaps the eyes are watching from beyond?

  • This video is great! My grandmother was born and raised in Bodie and you have several pictures of her family's house in this video. It is the Metzger House...up behind the church. Her dad was the foreman of the Standard Mill. The house is the one with the shiny windows....just after the pictures of the mill.

There are two more pictures later on in the video.

Thank you so much for sharing!

  • I'm very glad you enjoy this video, I make all my videos from the heart. Course I also like to add some extra popcorn, so you don't have to buy any. lol

I would very much liked to have met your grandmother. She must be a wonderful woman.

I've spent a lot of time in Bodie, I went there every years several times since 1968 until 2002. Love the hobby. Never tiring, never dull.

Again thank you for watching my videos and let me hear from you.

  • Yes, know the house well, in fact if you look closely you will see it's twin (little fun I had) to the right of it.Your grandmother must have been a wonderful person full of life.

Thank you for watching my video. I do them for the love of it.

  • This is a great video of an abandoned mining town, aka ghost town. It looks familiar and I am wondering if Bodie has been used as a movie set, perhaps HBO's new western series.

  • En Aranjues Con Tu Amor performed by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band.

  • I like this, it made me think lots and imagine all that old machinery, shiny and new.

I wonder what the first music track was?
