that is what my mother listen while i was growing up....and i still love it how many years later...at that time it was something i just listen cause it was house music ..wow...now i understand it.....much more at my age...
I've never heard of her before today, but what beautiful music, what a voice! And does her younger pictures remind anyone else of Janet Jackson? It's kind of weird.
I went to Junior High with her and she was blowing back then too. She turned out our Talent Show singing a Sarah Vaughn classic - Forbidden Fruit. I think this album, "Everything Must Change" is her best by far.
everything must change and such the humanity of man has been revealed.she sings and time stands still and i am captured by the resonance of her voice and the reality of her song"EVERYTHING MUST CHANGE" rob
I first heard this song 25 years ago, a junkie had a tape, he left it at my apartment in NY, a couple years later my friend Jeanette stole my stolen tape from me, I hadn't heard it again till now, what a lucky day this is,mm
Oh so many years ago, Stella Link, a superb DJ @ KAZI in Austin,TX turned me onto this beautiful song and so many others. Also calls to mind Teena Marie's Deja Vu, another Stella favorite. Bless you, Stella Link, wherever you may be.
when you are going through something this song with help you get through. i needed this more than words can say... thank you randi you sound like silk sheets on a hot day...
I love the lyrics of this song it was sang to me by our best friend and a great musician in kyoto japan on our 10th wedding anniversary!! Thanks Stephen Burns!!!!! We love you and now 14 years later I still think everything must change except our friendship!!!!!!!!!!
I just finished listening to different versions of this song and while I love many different versions she puts that liitle extra part of her soul into her lyrics that are untouchable and it gives me tingles. She astounds and though she hasn't reached the success she deserves I'm sure God has blessed her beyond her voice
I was introduced to Randy in the late 70's. This song to me has always been her most special. It's just heart rending. And her delivery and voice are just untouchable
In lost my father 22 years ago when I was a child, I understand and am sorry for your loss. Randys song "One day I'll fly away" makes me sad. But then I remember we have to go on and as she says wounded hearts will heal.
Thats interesting to read because I was impressed as a kid when I heard the melancholy original on Quincy's 1974 LP, Body Heat, and many years later when I bought Randy's soulful LP version. A few months ago, I replayed Q's old CD and images of a funeral and celebration of life and life's passing flooded my mind, tho it was of no one in particular. The version by the songwriter Ighner on Q's Body Heat is just simply different, different era and recording technology Very evocative as is Randy's.
Only stupid person never change opinions only false and artificial things stay the same forever ...time changes world and it's amazing to see how as long as we are around to see all these changements THANKS YOU TUBE for this sweet voice and this sweet song
ever since i heard your voice Randy, you have always express the way my soul crave for what we call music. thank you very much and God bless you and your family always....Vic Espinosa of Iloilo city,Phillipines
This is Randy's first album the entire album rules, she does"Never Been to Me", a version which blows Charlene's version away about 6 years before Charlene's version
If anybody can find & post the Randy Crawford song This Night was Made for One Thing Only from the Stakeout movie soundtrack,I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
The original version is by Billy Paul sometime in the 70's I think. This is THE version of this song. Great lyrics and superb performance! The Standard!
Google "Benard Ighner" or look under Quincy Jones. Mr. Ighner wrote the tune and performed it with Quincy Jones. I think I actually like George Benson's version the best (also from the 70's).
Really nice live version. I first heard this song covered by George Benson and mistakenly assumed he wrote it. I just found out it was covered earlier by Quincy Jones (although Benard Ighner wrote the tune I don't think I've heard his version). Googled Mr. Ighner and found out some really interesting stuff.
I believe the song was on an album called Body Heat. It's also on the Quincy Jones "Ultimate Collection CD". I don't own either but I googled the info.
I first heard this song performed at a college jazz ensemble concert by some guy that I wish I could hear again. This is such a stellar song. Thanks for posting it.
its my favorite song..always has been, but Randy trumps George Benson in a BIG way on this one. Im a die hard Patti Labelle and Chaka fan, and there sint much at all that I dont like from them, but Randys' version of this song, is my favorite all time tune...BRAVA!! Madam Crawford..
I really enjoyed that...if you like that song check out my two favorite performances. One is Oleta Adams version of it and the other , if you can find it, is a guy named David peaston. He won 6 times on the Apollo in the late 80's and ended up doing 2 albums. But he KILLED that song. Sort of like Phillip Bailey would have done it! I think you'd like it. Hope so anyway!
i am very lucky to share with you, that i had the chance to have invited Randy in Bangkok for drink in Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. Randy had a concert in Bangkok that time in the Siam intercontinental Hotel. She is a one of the best singer for me and most of all very down to earth person. she should make a come back and make more song..
beautiful...just beautiful, although i'm partial to George Benson putting his magic to this piece. Randy is great....
