I just finished listening to different versions of this song and while I love many different versions she puts that liitle extra part of her soul into her lyrics that are untouchable and it gives me tingles. Thats interesting to read because I was impressed as a kid when I heard the melancholy original on Quincy's 1974 LP, Body Heat, and many years later when I bought Randy's soulful LP version. A few months ago, I replayed Q's old CD and images of a funeral and celebration of life and life's passing flooded my mind, tho it was of no one in particular. The version by the songwriter Ighner on Q's Body Heat is just simply different,different era and recording technology Very evocative as is Randy's.

Really nice live version. I first heard this song covered by George Benson and mistakenly assumed he wrote it. I just found out it was covered earlier by Quincy Jones (although Benard Ighner wrote the tune I don't think I've heard his version). Googled Mr. Ighner and found out some really interesting stuff.
