  • I used to love out wringer washer, in the 1980's and during the summer we kept it in the yard. It washed so well and it went as long as you wanted it too.. Now with kids be careful they can get hurt.

  • dang! that water sure is brown!

  • hi, I saw in an instruction manual that one is supposed to fill up to the top of ribs on agitator. you'll have even better washing action. happy cleaning!

  • When I had my first apartment in Baltimore, some 35 years ago, I found an old Maytag Gyrator in the alley for free. All, I had to do was lug it home, quite an effort. It was used for years ad did a wonderful job washing my clothes. Every Saturday morning, I would do the wash and vacuum the apartment while the washer was busy agitating. At the end of a few hours, I had a spotless apartment and clean clothes! I was sad to see the machine finally rust through and die. Only lasted some 65 years...

  • It's kinda funny how simple issues always seem to cause things to get worse. For example the getting bit by the rollers. Despite the rollers being more efficient than a spin cycle, because of the occasional bite they were done away with. It seems the old wringer washers were about as good as they got when it comes to actual efficiency (how many clothes can be washed, how clean they got to the energy used). People just getting too lazy. Line dry is epic.

  • @yesiamanalien Well put! Exactly how I feel about it. "Line dry is epic!" .. Nice

  • I hope I don't disapoint you, but I'm afraid your washer was made between 1966 and 1983 because this is the only period that they made washers with an aqua agitator. Of coarse there is a possibitlity that the agitator is not origional to the washer, But I loved the video anyway, your 'daughter'..? is very cute and the machine is pretty cool

  • @gagafreakbeiber Haha .. no problem GagaFreak ... I appreciate the information. I am glad this is the case because it maybe easier to find them then I originally thought and therefore should be able to buy another in case this one breaks. Thanks!

  • Great to see somebody else using a wringer washer in this modern era! I hope you don't mind me offering some advice - it appears you have overloaded the tub. The clothes should have enough room to circulate freely. According to the owner's manual (which you can often find on eBay), when properly loaded, clothes will tumble towards the center of the tub I've posted a short vid demonstrating this.

  • @BradRoss63 Thanks Brad. Good advice. Do you know what the little hole is or mount on the front? It looks like it maybe holds a clip for clothes pin bag or something. Also mine came with an air bulb you depress with your foot to engage the roller. I took it off and used a bolt to hold the roller safety on.

  • Great video, thanks. I'm picking my wringer washer up this weekend ($75 Craislist!). Since we live on a farm, can't wait to really agitate the clothes, and get them CLEAN. We'll be setting up so the gray water drains to our orchard (except in the winter). So extra use of the water. For the people who want wringer washers, and treadle sewing machines (I have four), Craigslist is your friend.

  • @BohemianGarnet Good Stuff! We got ours off of craigslist as well. We also reuse our gray water for gardens, just make sure you use good soap that won't hurt your plants and keep your fingers outta the roller! Have fun :)

  • Not to date myself but as a child we used one of those. I remember my mother getting "bit" a few times. Good find. They are very hard to come by now.

  • been wanting one of those, but man they are tough to find

  • My husband thinks im wierd id love one of these and a treadle sewing machine

  • @nagaempress I think like a lot of things we've been sold a lot of promises with "new" technology. These washers do a great job and don' t take much effort to do laundry.

  • I've been wanting to get one of them for a long time
