  • Joseph William Perkins (July 7, 1913 – March 21, 2011), known by the stage name Pinetop Perkins, was an American blues musician, specializing in piano music. He played with some of the most influential blues and rock and roll performers in American history, and received numerous honors during his lifetime including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and induction into the Blues Hall of Fame.

Pinetop was buried at Clarksdale, Mississippi, 2 April 2011.

  • Some of these musicians are really strong, Pinetop is one of them. Not many had the chance to even arrive at the age of 30!

  • Saw Pinetop Perkins live in Chicago back in the late '80. Went backstage, bought his album which he autographed as he made a pass at my girlfriend. He was well into his 80's by then...considered it an honor.

Last of the Delta Blues originals.

    RIP Pinetop...Legends never die.

  • R.I.P. Pinetop - you will be missed by so many.

  • Saw Pinetop with Muddy in the 70's, never anyone better, must be a great reunion jam goin down in the great beyond...makes me wanna go :)

  • In 1978, I went to see Muddy play at Paul's Mall in Boston. My wife and I were guests that night and sat at the table located right next to Pinetop. When it came to break between the shows Pinetop came over by us (as it was the closest table to him) and asked if he could sit with us. He did of course but he really paid attention to my wife. That old guy knew where his bread was buttered. I got a chance to play with Pinetop and Muddy during the second show. We are very sad to hear of his passing

  • Hey guys be sure to buy Pinetop Perkins new album called, Joined At The Hip: Pinetop Perkins & Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. I bought it in June when it first came out and love it!

  • Clarence «Pinetop» Perkins (1913), pianista de blues, ha sido un prodigio de longevidad y energía, ya que pasados los 90s ha seguido dando conciertos y grabando con cierta asiduidad.

  • Perkins is so bad not even a train could stop him from playing the blues.

  • We saw Pinetop with band few weks ago at Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. Concert lasted over 2 hours and 3 out of 5 musicians on the stage were over 80 years old but what an energy!! One of the best concert ! I wish younger perfomers learn : you cant fake talent and you should always play for yours and audience pleasure . Pinetop needed little help to walk but once he started playing , he was ageless, furry of energy, I thought this piano will not make lol. ,:)

  • @jrtibebu He always said that he couldn't play like he used to, but of course, times were different years ago

  • might get to play with him in november in california

  • I played with him at Byron Bay Blues Fest a few year back. We did Caladonia, Down in Mississippi, Pinetop Boogie, Kansas City, Got My Mojo Workin' and 5 Long Years. Wonderful man such a gentleman

  • nice

  • Pinetop is emerging as a new musical sensation at age 93. Life is weird.

  • saw him at Maryport blues fest uk a couple of years ago........awesome....most guys have forgotten to wake of a morning let alone knock out the boogie/ honky tonk piano.....

  • if you dont all ready know he is well known for his playing with muddy warters and others so hes always been wellknown

  • Pine Top = Solid.

  • Pinetop's the man! Great video and sounds great, too bad there's not more.
