@MusicLoversUtd If you have any specific questions, please send me a PM. I recommend always practicing recall inside the home first, then venture into the backyard, front yard, then eventually to large open spaces like parking lots and parks. I always teach my dogs the sit, down, and stay along with recall. Good luck!
I'm going to adopt a doberman in about half a year (of course from a dobe rescue organisation!;) but before that I want to gain some experience with dogs by helping out in my local shelter =)
have you received some special training or are there any books/websites about obedience training you can recommend? :)
@JaheiraVanHeaven So happy to hear that you are looking into adopting your next dog. And yes, working with shelter dogs will give you a tremendous amount of experience working with a wide variety of dogs! I don't have any formal training experience and don't read any books/sites, but there are various trainers on YouTube who have amazing training tutorials. Good luck, and keep me updated on the adoption!

This is amazing! Good for you for trying to get the word out about shelter dogs. Love the vid (: How did u learn to teach him all of those tricks without any classes?
@rukarukakaykay He has truly come such a long way from how he used to be. People who never knew him beforehand can't believe he had any issues either although he still gets tense during dog-to-dog introductions. I know his limits, boundaries, and we work together to build his social skills on a daily basis.
This is amazing! I have five rescues at the moment - 2 of them seniors - and wouldn't trade them for the world! I volunteer at our local shelter and are working towards making it "No-Kill". Thanks for your inspiration!
Thanks, he's almost 11 and didn't have any chance of getting adopted. Now he's mine and no one will ever get any more chance of having this lovely friend ;-) I'm also doing bitework with him, he's such a good student, doing all the best he can to please his master. He's the greatest! But I have to admit, Vinny is better trained :-) Can't keep his attention for such a long period. He can perfectly do 30 steps in attention but not like you do, I love it! :)
@MercuryLovex3 Again, I'm so glad to hear you adopted him! I don't know when you adopted him, but most people do not take a chance on older dogs - most are euthanized very quickly at shelters. I have a soft spot for seniors & special needs pets <3
Just love the way you're working with your dog. I have a malinois from a rescue center and I'm also training obedience with him. He's such a grateful fellah :)
I love Vinny Love!!! ha.. Please tell me how I can train my MinPin "Roo" like this. Whats the trick?? She is such a loving and obedient dog with just the few things that I have trained her in but I dont know what to do besides take her to classes and thats very expensive. I would like to do it myself. Do you have any real tips even just on the obedience stuff?
All I can say is WOW! I've been training dogs for 35 years and this is as fine of work as I have ever seen. It's obvious that your connection withe Vinny Love is deep and complete. In looking at your page and other videos I am also impressed with your commitment to shelter dogs and to positive reinforcement training. Keep it up!
Is there anything specific you are looking for? Please send me a personal message & I would be more than happy to help you. I don't make dog training tutorials as there are plenty available online.
I think you have done a marvellous job; you are a great pair! You have inspired me! I'm taking on a shelter dog just before Christmas (when I'll have 15 days holiday from work). He's a beautiful 3 year old Lab-mix, and has been in the shelter for two-and -a-half years. He's in Rome now, and I live in Padua, near Venice. If he turns out half as obedient as your lovely pooch, I'll be very happy! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words & support. I'm so glad to hear we've inspired you! Thank you & congratulations on adopting your new dog. I wish you guys many happy years together, and good luck with the training!
I actually taught him the "look at me" command so I can get his attention if he starts fixating on other dogs. It's an excellent command for teaching them focus control around distractions!
Aww, thanks! Most Border Collies are workaholics that love to have a job. You should give trick training or agility a try, it's fun and I bet your BC would love it!
This is so awesome and amazing! And the message sent along with it, that one should adopt from a shelter makes it even that much better. I love you and this dog and I've never even met you!
yea, right... I pressed like also... wonder why sooo many guys like this Vid... ok, sure... im not going to say it either !

@MusicLoversUtd I would recommend teaching your dog using a long lead first before walking a dog off-leash.
