This is the BEST band that I've ever heard play this. I love how the solo keeps going throughout the song. I wish my jazz band had thought of that before our concert...
but next year I'll be first tenor, so hopefully I can do something as amazing and
It is truly a classic. We just played this selection with our Humboldt, Iowa Community Big Band at the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa for three sold out shows of 300 people at each. This song will live forever and this arrangement is very playable by any band, adult, College, High School, or Middle School. Rollie Jensen, drummer, Pocahontas, Iowa
Agreed Rollie, Sammy wrote to me years ago after I sent him this recording saying that he never imagined this level one chart could sound so good thanks to the tenor sax player.
He also recently wrote to me again.
Dick: I am flabbergasted, thanks ever so much, I am impressed and deeply grateful. Your band is fantastic. I've heard so many renditions of my music that I was disappointed in.
I worked shortly with Gene Krupa, and I wrote a couple of things for Buddy Rich ... making it another thing we have in common.
What a treat to hear (and see) your band play my music. I wish to profusely thank you for the many you-tube numbers that you have sent to me. They were fun listening to, but by far the best were from your band. I can't thank you enough.
Artist: Classics IV Song: Traces Faded photograph Covered now with lines and creases Tickets torn in half Memories in bits and pieces Traces of love long ago That didn't work out right Traces of love Ribbons from her hair Souvenirs of days together
Thanks Richard for posting this ... (and all your other stuff too!) I played that chart on "Traces" when I was 12 in 7th grade.. on 2nd tenor sax in the Junior HS "stage band"...

beautiful as that.
