I had the same idea with the Honda transmission. I was going to use a trans off of a trail 90. I took the head off and piston/rod and put a plate over the hole like you did but never got any further than that.

Now I know. Like everyone else, I'm curious about what happened with the cops showing up and wondering if they came over to talk to you about the snow pile. Sounds like your neighbor is a real pain. My neighbor used to call the cops on me for riding my snowmobile on the strip of grass in front of his house which was a city Right-of-way. Cops told him I was obeying the law. He didn't like that.
