Also, it seems to me that this enormous need to be in the spotlight, to be a dramatic, admired, REAL woman is in fact an unbalanced phenomenon. I actually had a trans roommate and she said ten times a day "I'm a real woman".

Like an obsession.

I thought he/she was entertaining, but only slowly realized the tragedy behind it all, and the ease with which doctors just did anything to him. He/she had no clue

of what was going on really, swallowing tons of meds everyday, rashes, sickness etc.

why do transvestites and transgender folks have such short life spans? I recently watched Paris is Burning and googled several of the people in the film....hardly any of them lived to be over fifty....

@ekimusman2 I think it has a lot to do with the changing of the hormonal balance in a person's body. yes, it's possible to go from a man to a woman using hormonal therapy etc. but all of that HAS to take a toll on the body sooner or later. I've never seen an elderly transgendered person. I don't have an M.D., but I think that's why.

Good point! Though society heavily & blindly promotes all "alternative" gender phenomena and constantly tells us how great and NATURAL it all is that we are being ourselves, the truth is few people in society ever find a balanced sexual identity.

I've known trannies and I can tell you I was horrified by how they get butchered by the med system. Then all those hormones, implants...Plus the lifestyle, that's so off the mainstream that not seldom will they get into prostitution...

"SOCIETY" isn't blindly "PROMOTING" anything. Quite the opposite, right? No one is promoting gender change. These people are the opposite gender, and need to do whatever to realize that to the degree that is possible. No one knows why, but they all say that they remember realizing they're in the wrong gendered body from early childhood. That's enough for me. Gay comes from biology, maybe that does as well. Time will tell.

It occurred to me that my comment might have been a bit hard and not very gentlemanlike, and it wasn't my intention to offend some of the beautiful transgendered creatures that have walked a very long road in order to try to be who they feel they really are. Yet I'm not as sure as you are that people are born that way, and gays may very well sense that they were always "different", but this difference didn't necessarily pertain to sexual orientation...Best to you.
