  • i got a k&n on my truck and it gets so loud on my truck. its an automatic so it gets loud when u hit the gas and then it downshifts to get more power and screams and then shifts up

    there is an electronic speed muzzle on the 2.4. In the stock tune its limited to 129mph.

  • due to its positioning is there any air that is actual reaching it, wouldnt it be better if the intake was placed down near the bottom of the fender, and the tubing, the intake itself would sound much better if it was made of metal

  • Do you know if that model has a governor? Have you ever tried reaching max speed on it? I know the 2.2l has a governor and cant exceed 105-110 mph.

    I have an '05 2.2L NA standard which I've surpassed 200kms/hr in. I know the 2.2L NA automatic has a speed govenor at 110MPH but I'm not sure if the same is true for the 2.4 standard vs. automatic. Not sure if this helps.

  • Not everyone can afford the SC or Turbo, expecially if you only 18 and pay for all your own stuff. i have the 2.4L because i couldnt afford the SC and i have to say it better than getting the LS or LT i think...

  • Your absolutely correct. This model now named the "sport" is considerably better then the ls and lt put together. its a well rounded cobalt for anyone that cannot afford the ss/sc or tc. After purchasing the SC myself. i would have to say it doesnt handle very close to the same. but when it comes down to the power...u really cannot compare

  • Yea. I've got the Ion version of the SSNA and after driving a TC, they feel very similar. I am a couple days away from turboing my 2.4 to Stage II, which should put its whp to about 260, right where the TC engine. Definitely worth looking into the ZZP kit.

  • That's true I own a 2008 SC myself, it's a great car and gets mistaken for the SS Supercharged alot, hey one questions I have the same headlights as yours, did you take off the weather strip in order for it to fit properly?

  • @BlueZero2003 No, actually i did not. i used a flat piece of plastic to push the weather stripping in with the light while adjusting the sitting point. this is very important that you do properly since you want to avoid as much water intake as you can

  • I got a 2006 Cobalt SS 2.4 for $5000 and I love it, I already have trouble not geting speeding tickets lol. Plus I'm happy its not forced induction because frankly, I'm too cheap to pa for premium gas haha!

  • i know every one watching likes this car, but its pretty much slow. why not get the sc, turbo model.

  • slow? Match it to the 5 speed and a good driver and its a beast...Though i did get ripped open by a Stage II SRT-4 Neon last night...sigh. I post in the mid 14s and once everything is done this winter, I hope to drop in the low 13s to upper 12s. Not slow at all friend.

  • actually what neded up happening was i rolled this one. spent some time with a purchas eof a new Supercharged one. then started getting massive warranty issues GM would NOT do. sorry i dotn have patience for SHIT service. I traded it in and got myself an 08 GT mustang. much different car of course and i am happy with it. but i would have to say i will NEED a supercharger on this thing since i miss the sound

  • i cannot see the L4 get near 12's. not without extensive modifications. With a year inot an L4 with a t3/t4 hybrid turbo, inj, etc. ur still looking maybe mid 13's at best. also the L4 comes with a getrag 5 speed. Stock for stock the neon will easily kill the L4.

  • wow ur amazing. u know when people get older they get better cars usually. this car was sold for the supercharged model and now that is gone and i now have a 2008 s197 mustang gt.....and all of them are "real cars" now if you were to say something on the lines of "2.4 cobalt" not being a race car... then i would have to say you posted in the wrong forum. this is for people looking to by the typhoon.

  • to Neo; well its not a bad thing. of course this is called a short ram so its meant to be like that. if you are looking for a Ram air. then there would be directed air going into the filter. a good example is the ws6 trans am

  • I'm no engineer, but isnt pointing AWAY from the airflow of the car a bad thing? Unless they only race the car in reverse, then I guess its cool.

  • The whole point of air intake system is draw cool air into the engine. this is the reason why the intake is away from the engine so it not sucking in hot air which will reduce hp. And yes your definetly not a engineer because anybody with half a brain can figure this out. K/n design some of the best air intake systems in the world tons of research goes into every design.

  • Yeah i'm definetly getting it. I found it for 212.00 from muscle exhaust online store. I can't wait to hear this thing in my g5 gt.

  • Yeah more mods to come. this thing sounds really good on load. it cost me about 350 bucks canadian, retails around 450 or something. if u can get it cheaper do it! its worth it. K&N was advertising between 10-15whp more power with this thing. i dont know if its actually that high but i can feel the G's now,lol. killed integra type r after installing this mod and a vector tune

    its a VERY good thing and it gives about 5-7 hp in 5000 RPM
