@johnr1031 download the 3.1.2 firmware onto ur desktop manually (google search: 3.1.2 iphone firmware download) then plug in ur iphone and instead of just clicking restore hold shift and then hit restore. then search for the downloaded firmware and click it.

you dont have to restore it you have to click the home and sleep button at the same time for 10 seconds

I told at&t I broke my iPhone so they would remove the data plan. I said I will use a reg phone I have lying around.

Heres the thing. If I put my sim back into my iPhone 3gs it will just start charging me agin because it will know its a smart phone. So does jailbraking or unlocking your iPhone hide your IMEI # so they dont know you have a smartphone? Otherwise at&t makes you pay data if you have a smart phone. PLEASE HELP!

You iphone is "tethered" which basically means you need to jailbreak it every time you reboot it. The simple solution is just make sure its charged and never turn it off.

@very0bad0ducky this is a tethered jailbreak, like he says in the video, if you turn off your iphone/itouch you will need to connect it to you computer then rerun blackra1n. Once its finished you should get back to your menu.

After reboot it asks for iTunes. Looks scary, but do the same tutorial again. No need to worry about that text asking for iTunes. Then it started to work.
