It is simply referring to Jacob (his name was changed to Israel which means something akin to "he who rules with God") and those who accept the message. Simple as that.

The poem was aimed at Christians who go about the routine of the religion without seeking the actual core of what Jesus taught. It is completely possible to be a "Christian" and just go about the routine of the religion without really accepting Jesus as the life-changer that he is meant to be. That's the reason behind the poem, and that's the reason why it needs to be heard by all Christians.

While it is one thing to love the moral/ethical ideals Jesus supposedly put forth, it is another thing to make a religion out of one man's teachings. It is possible to respect someone without making them into a god. I don't accept Jesus as my savior because I do not believe in the RELIGION of Christianity. Which created more reason to sin, that is why Jesus came to die for our sin and free us from the "law" (period of grace) which is now. As long as we believe in HIM. @Quartrez ya.. he fulfill them, the only ONE that could do it. No human can completely follow the law, thats why through HIM, we are free and through HIM we did it. It is not that HE remove it, it is because HE did/fulfill it, and through HIM, we are free and no longer chained to the law, and our sin is no more and had been all wash away. Church life ought to help us keep each other accountable to God as well. If we are going to be Jesus like persons, you can't ignore that we must be religious.
Adding on to this, Jesus was a religious person himself. He attended synagogue growing up and during his ministry. He knew the Old Testament well, and observed its commands, festivals, etc. All of the apostles also were part of the early churches, and Paul worked tirelessly to establish, encourage, and teach many church communities all over the Mediterranean basin. You don't have Christians without the community and a commitment to obeying Jesus' commands together.
I'm curious, what does believing in Jesus give you? Peace in your heart? The feeling of being forgiven? Well, I already have peace in my heart, because I deal with my problems (or sins) in another way. Usually something close to the five-stage (Kübler-Ross) model. Does it give you a guidance to do what's right? Well, my instincts already tell me 'what's right', like it does to any human being. Level with me, and explain to me what I'm overlooking.

Peace in knowing where I will go when I die, peace in KNOWING the truth about why we were created, peace in knowing how much I am loved. Christians also feel so much more love for OTHERS because of how much He loves US! we know we r ALL brothers, created by our Father.

It is simply referring to Jacob (his name was changed to Israel which means something akin to "he who rules with God") and those who accept the message. Simple as that.

@twayf3 The point of the original spoken word poem wasn't to claim that Christianity isn't a religion. The poem was aimed at Christians who go about the routine of the religion without seeking the actual core of what Jesus taught. It is completely possible to be a "Christian" and just go about the routine of the religion without really accepting Jesus as the life-changer that he is meant to be. That's the reason behind the poem, and that's the reason why it needs to be heard by all Christians.

@PBnJBand arguably the only thing of Jesus's that is 'here' are his ideas and teachings. While it is one thing to love the moral/ethical ideals Jesus supposedly put forth, it is another thing to make a religion out of one man's teachings. It is possible to respect someone without making them into a god. I don't accept Jesus as my savior because I do not believe in the RELIGION of Christianity. If religion has given 'you'(Christians) a bad name, that doesn't mean it is right to just re-brand it.

Christianity at its core is NOT man made. Denominations are the man made sections of Christianity. What Denomination was Christ? ...Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic, and more are all man made. Throughout history it wasn't Christianity that makes war it is the leaders of the Denominations that create war. It is Denominations that pit one Christian against another. Traditions and Church Rules are man made, GOD's Laws are not. This video should be named "Why I hate Denominations but love Christ."

You can't go to Heaven simply that way. You can't kill people in Heaven, you can't hurt people in Heaven. Which created more reason to sin, that is why Jesus came to die for our sin and free us from the "law" (period of grace) which is now. As long as we believe in HIM. @Quartrez ya.. he fulfill them, the only ONE that could do it. No human can completely follow the law, thats why through HIM, we are free and through HIM we did it. It is not that HE remove it, it is because HE did/fulfill it, and through HIM, we are free and no longer chained to the law, and our sin is no more and had been all wash away. But of cos there is one condition which is to accept Jesus as our saviour etc. I'm really bad at explaining things, hope it is more clear this time.

the problem is, a lot of people think the Bible is just some dusty old book that just tells you what to do and how to do it condemning all to death it you don't follow to the letter...it's not...the Bible is the greatest love story ever written. thanks for saying what you said man! keep it up!

Believing that Jesus died on the cross for your sins is a CHRISTIAN belief. I don't know what else to say. Believing you have a relationship with Jesus is something only Christians believe. Therefore this guy in this video belongs to the Christian religion. No one can deny this.

@scvman992000 being a "Christian" isn't so much of an organized religion to most of us so much as it's a state of being and state of faith. the translation of "Christian" is "Christ Like". this term was given to us by the very people who tried to eradicate us in the very beginning. unfortunately civilizations like Rome noticed the devotion of Christians and decided to turn it to their advantage. that's why a lot of Bibles were Latin so people couldn't read for themselves. it's all history man.

Hoping that i can have the relationship back and feel his holy spirit in my heart. and the peace that passes understanding. since i have been obeying him i feel him knocking on the door of my heart to let him in but i am afraid of trusting him and letting him guide me. idk why. i feel him trying to open my heart but i just harden it and i feel my heart getting blackened spiritually. so what do think i should do?

I got saved when i was in 8th grade, i was catholic then i turned into a christian when God called me because i was always led by the Holy Spirit in everything i did. me & Jesus had a special relationship...4 months later i fell astray & i completely lost the holy spirit. Now i'm in 11th grade searching for God except in a 'religious' way...

Dude the belief in Jesus Christ makes you a Christian! Christianity is a RELIGION! A RELIGION started by Jesus Christ! And, the best way to love Jesus, have a personal relationship with him, and live an honest beautiful life, is to go to church read the bible, and following its teachings (especially about loving all people on this Earth), and be a part of the Christian RELIGION!

I for one am so proud of you:-) To be such a young man, u r very wise. You are obviously in love with Jesus & has the right attitude that ALL Christians should have!!! The reason a lot of people are lost & don't want to go to church or become Christians is because of the things they see so called Christians do they way they act "holier than thou". Great approach sir, however? the man said "Our father" not "my father"? did you read the bible from start to end sir? did you read it in the language spoken by Jesus (pbah) which is Aramaic? Church life is critical to being a christian person-- it's the place where we are supposed to work on becoming more like Jesus in our actions. Showing grace, looking for and meeting needs, offering legitimate friendships and care for persons. Jesus' primary message in the gospel accounts is to repent of our former way of living. Church life ought to help us keep each other accountable to God as well. If we are going to be Jesus like persons, you can't ignore that we must be religious.

Adding on to this, Jesus was a religious person himself. He attended synagogue growing up and during his ministry. He knew the Old Testament well, and observed its commands, festivals, etc. All of the apostles also were part of the early churches, and Paul worked tirelessly to establish, encourage, and teach many church communities all over the Mediterranean basin. You don't have Christians without the community and a commitment to obeying Jesus' commands together.

I'm curious, what does believing in Jesus give you? Peace in your heart? The feeling of being forgiven? Well, I already have peace in my heart, because I deal with my problems (or sins) in another way. Usually something close to the five-stage (Kübler-Ross) model. Does it give you a guidance to do what's right? Well, my instincts already tell me 'what's right', like it does to any human being. Level with me, and explain to me what I'm overlooking.

@Muskar2 Where do you think that your "instincts" come from? Yes, Jesus gives us peace. Real peace that God gives us is too wonderful to explain. Peace in knowing where I will go when I die, peace in KNOWING the truth about why we were created, peace in knowing how much I am loved. Christians also feel so much more love for OTHERS because of how much He loves US! we know we r ALL brothers, created by our Father.

It just seems like replacing the fear of death with an popular idea that is less awful, to cope it. You think Christians feel more love for others? Sorry, that's just ignorant and rude. He makes me throw away the OLD me that lived for myself and destroyed myself, and gives me strength to walk in THE LIGHT. So much more than that too message me if u have any other questions!!
