not through the middle, the interlocking gear-teeth block the middle.
Also the gear-teeth on the left side move away from each other creating low pressure (intake). The gear-teeth on the right side move toward each other creating high pressure (output)
Right way of flow, basic engineering, if you observe two toothed gears meshed together there is a fine tolerance between the meshed teeth, then the oil or fluid is drawn round between the gear and the pump casing in the teeth gaps, then it flows out of the outlet, it cannot flow back through between the gears as there is a tight tolerance.
@klidpsol You are wrong. Look again. And think about it. How can the fluid flow where the gear is meshed? There is no space for the fluid there. So it go around the other way. Hence the flow direction shown is correct.
flow direction is right because
My guess:
the water is gong the long way around

@Lamboragon i didnt say that's a centrifugal, it's a gear pump and the flow direction is wrong!!! learn more about fluids bro...:P

You don't need to learn fluids to see it.

Hi, can you actually build this in a small scale? with 2 hydraulics?

Hi, I do not think I have to see it.
