Chase please consider a tutorial on setting up accessibility features on iPhone (or iTouch) and how one can most effectively use iPhone for everyday tasks. Thanks.
When I listen to you making these video tutorials and your submissions to Blind Cool Tech I'm reminded of Jenny Axler who of course produced several excellent tutorials about the Icon.
This is truely amazing Chase, Apple really have taken accessability far further than we ever thought possible, who would have thought totally blind people can use a trouch screen device. Now that you have your Refreshabraille connected can you turn speech off and use the braille display exclusively to access the iPod? I assume this also works with the iPad as well, right? Does iOS support other braille devices besides the Refreshabraille? I can't believe Apple has actually done this.
Yes, you can turn speech off and use the display. Apple has implemented support for many Bluetooth displays, so you are not limited to the Refreshabraille18. Also, Braille Displays can be used with the two devices that run IOS4 at this time that being the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPad is scheduled to get IOS4 in the fall, and it will have Braille Display support in that update. If all goes well, I will have a video demoing the Refreshabraille18 with the iPad at that time. That's very responsive. I'm wondering if this could replace our traditional notetakers, particularly since the main unit feeding info to the display is far cheaper.
@rml695 Perhaps it could, but the problem is in this case you're using 2 devices instead of one, also traditional blindness PDA's have generally had very good battery life, and the customised user interfaces mean that it's very quick and easy to jump from task to task at the touch of a button, and enter information very quickly without having to worry about graphical user interfaces, this is particularly true with the BrailleNote. I'm getting a VoiceNote Apex by the way.
Wow this is amazing

That's very responsive. I'm wondering if this will replace traditional notetakers, as the main hardware to power the display costs far less.
