  • BOTANY BAY?

  • @Now691 Well Star Wars and Star Trek both are the best!!

  • The 20 people who disliked this trailer shall be left as you left me, as you left her.

Marooned for all eternity at the center of a dead planet... buried alive... buried aliiive...

  • @KHAAAAAAAANNN

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAA-- oh shit, that's actually your username! LOL well played.

  • Star Wars is still better

  • hands down, the best Star Trek film

  • THIS IS CETI ALPHA FIVE!

  • whenever i look at this film i wonder why people only love the 2009 film yet this one is unspoken for, the abrams one sucked on ice

one time in class, i tried to convince the teacher to watch wrath of khan instead of (lets call it star trek 11), didnt work out that well, worse still, the class was applading at the end of 11

    *starts to cry*

  • KHAN!!!

  • ........TO BALDLY GO, WHERE NO TOUPEE HAS GONE BEFORE!!!

Probably the best of the bunch of the original Trekkie movies imo. The first home video i ever saw back in (cough) 1982 when we got our first VCR.

  • "Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human." - Eulogy delivered at Spock's funeral

No matter how may times I watch it.....I always get goose-bumps/choked up during that part. For all intent purposes, Spock was dead. At the time, though we all probably suspected there would be another film.....we didn't entirely know for certain if there would be a part 3/Search for Spock. So the whole scene was rather dramatic.

  • I've done far worse than kill you, I've hurt you, and I wish to go on hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me marooned for all eternity berried alive, berried alive.

  • @MrMajungatholus1 He tasks me! He tasks me, and I shall have him! I'll chase him round the Moons of Nibia, and round the Antares Maelstrom, and round perdition's flames before I give him up! Prepare to alter course!

  • my favourites are the motion picture & the final frontier and of course this one aswell

  • @ :39 epic entrance

  • "I see the Enterprise, Lord Kahn, but it's deflecting our Turbophasers"

(I hear the Turbolaser sound effect)

  • epic rap battles?

  • To the last I grapple with thee...from hell's heart I stab at thee...for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee!

    KHAAAAAAAN!!!!!

  • Now that I've watched this trailer, I have to go watch the movie like right now.

Looks like I'm getting nothing done for the next two hours.

  • Ah so this is were KHAAAAAAN parodies originated from

  • i do fare wor then kill you i will just hurt you and hurt you over and over again

  • Khans voice totally sounds like Bachir Boumaaza xD

  • Universal Studios logo is the Genesis planet

  • KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone else here sometimes think of TWOK, TSFS, and TVH as one whole movie? (Since the all connect so well).

  • Was this really the trailer back then or did you make it? I don't remember this. Was too young, I guess.

  • @indranee19

    Hi

Yes this was the offical Trailer. I saw it here in the United Kingdom before the films release at the movies. I was so excited!! Its still the best STAR TREK movie in my opinion.

    cheers

    ATVmidlands UK

  • Wow. Scrolling down and reading these comments, I thought STAR WARS fans were over-opinionated, bickering assholes. Trekkies FTW!!

  • "Left for dead.............he has survived...."

Great Voice over. They don't make trailers like this anymore. Old school shit is the best and the film itself is EPIC.

  • too bad with the picture :( hope this will be remaked

  • Well i dissagree with all of you.... wait a second.....KHANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I watched this movie a few nights ago. i haven't watchedx it in full since a rainy Sunday afternoon in August 2002. This movie got better with age. I also saw things in the actors performances i hadn't noticed before. As a newly Middle Aged, More Experienced " Admiral ", Shatner was good as Kirk, But not Great. His Over acting and act of his character acting Casually and Personal with the other characters/actors on Film is apparent. I saw no flaws in his when i was a kid, and Young Adult...

  • Wow. Pretty badass for 1982. I felt the same about the original Alien trailer.

  • There were alot of good Trek films but this was definitely the best. Best story, Best villain, Best music, Best Savik & Best space battles. The only thing I wished they'd done differently was leave the Warp drive special effects the same as the first film. The colors & sharp flash that would happen whenever they engaged the warp drive in ST 1 was really cool. Can't believe they did away with that. Even so, this film was as good as it gets.

  • @vodude I would say that this Trek is not only the best of the Trek films, but in the top 10% of sci-fi films, period. II and IV are the two Trek films that also can stand on their own with the non-Trekkie viewing public.

  • @peterp21 I couldn't agree with you more.

  • @peterp21 They are actually both similar films as well, due to the same Director Nicolas Meyer.

  • @peterp21 don't forget star trek VI and First contact, they were both great movies- better than IV imo, they both stand on their own with the non trekkie viewing public too, in fact out of all the 11 trek movies, I think First contact is probably the most enjoyable one to non trekkies

also the Motion Picture, the Search For Spock, Nemesis and XI were all reasonably solid movies

  • @elcap22 I really loved 2 & 3......but IMO, in terms of acting, script, special FX, etc.....ST VI The Undiscovered Country was probably the best of all. The whole cold war/fall of USSR parody was brilliant & also understandable to non-trekkies. VI was also nostalgic because we all knew it would be the last the we'd ever see that cast all together on the big screen. Also, considering that part V was pretty bad....VI was a redemption of sorts and a good way to kind of.....end ST TOS "in style".

  • @peterp21 Well.....Star Trek VI too. The Undiscovered country was really a kind of parody for the end of the cold war & the fall of the USSR.

  • @gjc82071 Parody? Where's the humor?

  • @peterp21 and first contact, maybe ? my mother hates sci-fi but he loved that movie

  • @peterp21 the most accessible films are IV and the reboot. As far as appealing to Star Trek films, II and VI are the best.

  • 0:59 best ricardo montalban bit ever

  • Der deutsche Trailer ist auch nicht von schlechten Eltern. :-)

Teil 2 bleibt ungeschlagen an der Spitze, Teil 6 ist in meiner persönlichen Fav-Liste auf der 2. Stelle.

  • After watching most of the Star Trek movies this weekend on Syfi, I have to say i liked this one very much, Undiscovered Country was pretty cool too, and First Contact was fun to watch I was dissapointed by Generations, Nemesis was ok. Need to watch the Search for Spock.

  • I love the references made from Moby Dick. Truely space opera. Kirk was Khan's white whale. The Undiscovered Country quoted Shakespear and Peter Pan. The dialog in both those films were supurb

  • moby-dick?

  • I feel so weird considering watching Star Trek because I haven't seen it and always avoided it. Thanks to Firefly and the new Battlestar Galactica I'm finally considering it.

  • @leonnasagawa you should do, star trek is probably the best sci-fi franchise ever, probably better than battlestar galactica and star wars. The Original Series, The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine were all brilliant series, This movie is absolutely brilliant, very underrated

  • @elcap22 I'll have to give it a go then.

  • @leonnasagawa you should, I'll recommend you watch the deep space nine episode called THE VISITOR, believe me you'll like it, the guy who wrote that episode was a writer for Battlestar Galactica

  • This film is so epic .

Montalbans acting sends a chill down my spine ...It is by far the best star Trek film ever made !

  • The best star trek movie of the lot

The other films Never captured the essence of star trek like this one did

    Montalban was superb

Rick berman messed it all up

  • @cetieel I disagree, St the motion picture like it or not was a Star Trek film, but more about the scientific exploration that Star Trek is supposed to be about. St 2 and 3 imo go together, because 3 is basically a conclusion, and is still quite a dark film albeit a bit less than 2. St 4 was the final chapter to the Genesis trilogy, it was a fun film and it was more like an original series episode, St 5 was dreadful, St 6 was a final good Tos movie. The rest of the St films are awful!

  • In space no one can hear you scream unless your name is Khan.

  • KHAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cool

  • KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Some of the best acting yu could ever ask for. Not once during that film do Kirk and Khan end up on the same set face to face. Wouldnt surprise me if they didnt even work the same days during filming yet they can pull off an great acting performance like that. Nothing in the last ten years compares to the level these two pull off in this film

  • 18 people have been marooned on Ceti Alpha V. KHAAAAAAAAAAAN!

  • dont remake this leave it alone abrams

  • I'm watching Star trek 2 right now on Blu-Ray.

    Great movie!!

  • Now THIS, is an awesome trailer.

  • No Tv show (trrek or other) can compare to this... there are only a couple scifi movies that are better then this

  • The plane, the plane!

  • those turtle necks must have hot ~

  • Cheesy trailer by today's standards — AWESOME movie by any standard!

  • This competes with The Undiscovered Country as being the best Trek film, I can and have watched both over and over and never tired of them. I guess the rest go Star Trek (Abrams), The Search For Spock, The Voyage Home, First Contact, The Final Frontier, The Motion Picture, Nemesis, Generations, and Insurrection.

  • FIRE ASS TORPEDOES!!!

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • Not only is the the best Trek film to date.. It's easily one of the top 10 movies EVER made.

  • love the star wars blaster sounds they use for this trailer. thats blasphemy i tell ya.

  • @StephenColbertRulz

Ilm did some of the effects, so Ben Burt probably let them borrow the sound effect :P

  • C L A S S I C C

  • this is such an awesome trailer. Especially from a time when trailers were usually really hammy

  • this is such a classic trailer.i love it. especially khan's "vengeance" speak at the end.some strong writing in this one.definitely my favorite trek film.

  • My dad started yelling kahn today so i looked this up after i asked him where he got it from. I found the part where he screams kahn xD

  • They should have just gone to Fantasy Island.

  • In this trailer Khan sounds a lot like Captain Ahab from "Moby Dick" with the way he says he will pursue Kirk. Plus the way he says "There she is" sounds somewhat like Ahab saying "Thar she blows."

  • @nrkgalt Well in the movie they do show a copy of Moby Dick on the book stand with Milton. Nothing is 100% original... except Abrams Trek, but it was 99% crap so there you go.

  • @McMahonHater Actually, in the 2009 version, the villain had a vendetta against Spock that was similar in intensity to Khan's against Kirk. So that one also took inspiration from things that came before.

  • @nrkgalt Not even close... Khan didn't sit on Ceti Alpha 5 for 15-20 years waiting for Kirk by choice, he was stuck there. The 2009 villian was as poorly written as everything else in the shit film (other then McCoy who was masterfully played by Karl Urban... the films one good actor.).

  • @nrkgalt yeah he's supposed to resemble Ahab

  • It's funny how a fake Khan is so much better than all the crappy Khan actors out of Bollywood.

  • KHAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!!!!

  • Thank the gods they're not wearing those awful grey things.

  • This movie is iKhanic!

  • @donniedarkodevotte

    A very apt comment. SOL

    (Smiling out loud.)

  • They Are making a new Star Trek, "Star trek 2" the sequel to the 2009 movie

  • @Zombiestewstudios Yes. from what I've read they're suppose to start filming in january for a 2012 release. I haven't heard too much about the plot.

  • The robot chicken opera sketch of this was pretty awesome

  • Personnally , BEST Star Trek Movie EVER made . Second best for me would have to be First Contact : )

  • @doctorwhoone No argument there. I would also add the recent Star Trek film to the list as well.

  • @mrrab20 That was an ok film, but i wouldint concidering it to be one of the best, but thats your choice offcourse not mine and i completely respect that fact : )

  • @doctorwhoone AGREE..This one and the new STAR TREK movie...ares the best of all star trek movies

  • @romeonarcizo than u aint no real star trek fan cuz that 2009 was no true star trek movie. how can u not say first contact or generations wasnt good?

  • @doctorwhoone true words, bro! *shakes hand*

  • @doctorwhoone

I would agree with you on this, they need to do a remake of the Wrath of Khan! I don't want to see alternate universes I want to see revenge and hatred. "From hell's heart I stab at thee"

  • There she is! There she is! Ah... not so wounded as we were led to believe. So much the better!

  • @doctorwhoone no i think the second best is The Undiscovered Country and First Contact been the third best

  • They don't make them like this any more. Best Star Trek Movie of all time.

  • "He tasks me,he tasks me."

  • KHAAAAAAN!!!

  • Best of the original series...

  • One of my favorite movies of all time! However, the trailer is pretty terrible. :P

  • Kirk: Khan.... I'm laughing @ your superior intellect.

  • watch as khan screams 'FIIIRE!!!"1:00......the face of satan enraged! P.S.:who's that girl on montalban's right?

  • One of the few sequels that is better than the first. Others include:

    1. T2

    2. Aliens

    3. Empire Strikes Back

    4. Rambo 2

  • @pdynamics1 Don't forget The Godfather II. Although I prefer the first Alien.

  • only thing i didn't like about this movie was that Spock died:( and i had to wait 9 months 9 MONTHS to find out what happened

  • TURDITIANS FLAME!

  • All credit to Channel 4(Television channel in Britain) to have shown all the feature films from the Motion Picture 1979 to "Nemesis" 2003 on 10 consecutive Saturdays.

Now this weekend, they are showing them all 10 films over 2 days!!!!

  • Now that's an epic f*cking brilliant trailer of awesomeness.

  • @Eregost2

Honestly, I prefer Deep Space Nine.

  • @FekLeyrTarg good for you :)

  • @Eregost2

Yeah, everyone has his/her own taste and favourites, don't they? :)

  • @FekLeyrTarg Indeed it appears so. I am unaccustomed to such individuality as it is a suppressed biological trait in borg clones such as myself. All borg prefer Voyager due to its empathetic representation of borg society thanks to the efforts of ambassador 7 of 9.

  • @FekLeyrTarg Can't campare Deep Space 9 to Babalon 5 -they were a copy! Actually they really were!!

  • @obdsystems

I haven't watched B5 yet but I've often heard that DS9 and B5 copied each other.

  • @FekLeyrTarg I heard it was a copy from the creater of Babalon 5 in a documentary. 2b fair it would take further research 2 confirm but in the end its preference n sci-fi :) Anyway I recommend any1 2 watch Babalon esp series 3 on with Shaddows :-)

  • @obdsystems yes you are right babylon 5 season 3 is very good

  • @FekLeyrTarg To tell You the truth, the creator of Babylon 5 went to Paramont with his story bible about Babylon 5 and the Five year arch.. They turn it down only later to give a copy to the Producers of STG and they mainly just copy most of the sub-plots of Babylon 5. But most people who are fans of DS9 would point out that DS9 came out a year before Babylon 5, and also over look the fact that the Babylon 5 plot movie was already shown on tv even before both shows came out.

  • @FekLeyrTarg

You need to really watch Babylon 5! It's one of the best Sci-fi series ever made, I would put it right up there next to TOS Star Trek and TNG. My suggestion would be to start with the second season and only watch a couple of epsiodes from season one.. The first season of Babylon 5 isn't that good and only has about maybe six good epsiodes. The second season is where the real story of Babylon 5 starts with the new captain.

  • @FekLeyrTarg

Well actually, Strazinski came to paramount with an "Original idea" (And we all know how scared they are of those) about a space station orbiting a planet noone heard of with a gateway that can go thousands of light years away. Paramount rejected it, then JMS went off to make B5, became a success with sci-fi fans, so Paramount decided to go ahead with DS9. However, the sotries were so completely different for both, it's more accuate to say DS9 was 'inspired' rather than ripped off.

  • @FekLeyrTarg

i did not watched B5 either but 5 years before the premiere of either show the producers pitched B5 to paramount & others, who weren't interested in any non-Trek Sci-Fi.

Then myseriously they hane an idea for a Trek show about a space station near a hyperspace transfer point.

...so hands down ds9 is a copy. but i dont care because i liked it.

  • @obdsystems

Well, actually, the stories for the two series were so completely different that it would be more accurate to say DS9 was inspired, besides JMS went to paramount first with an idea about a station with a gateway outside that could go thousands of light years away,

Both stories were presented completely differently, so I'd say that neither "Copied" the other, but they may have drawn inspiration from eachother to some small degree.

  • @FekLeyrTarg so do I.

  • @Eregost2 The Orginal was the best, but I liked Voyager as well, all of them were better then TNG and that pussy captain.

  • @Eregost2 that series is what got me addicted to star trek :)

  • @Eregost2 you fool voyager is good but excrement compared to the original star trek crew. Period.

  • no u

  • Wow - these old trailers are often really cheesy, but this one was surprisingly taut and well done. Superb. Now I really want to watch this movie again - it really is quite brilliant.

  • Light years better than Star Trek 1.

  • I never grew up watching the original series but I love the first six films and of course the re-runs,but after seeing the other spin-offs and their films I can honestly say they all get left behind by James T. Kirk and crew.KAAAAHHHHNNNNN!!!!!!

  • If JJ abrams wants the next star trek movie to outdo the first he's gotta bring back Khan. It's a new reality, and Khan isn't dead.

  • @FREAKNIZZLE100 Nero was a poor man's Khan. The first movie used so much plot ideas from the earlier movies that it just didn't measure up. And to bring back Khan? Why? Ricardo Montalban made that character so memorable. The movie should try to be it's own thing, not a pale reflection of things already past.

  • Long haired Ricardo Montalban, priceless!

  • Correct me if I'm wrong or confirm if I'm right but... is the narrator the same guy that did the original Transformers series? Sure sounds like him.

  • I absolutely hate remakes of classics that don't need it.....

The Crow, which i hope they don't do.......

The Hitcher an exemption, and other mindless killing movies

I think Hollywhateverwood needs less remakes and more originality....

But I would definitely love to see a restyling of this movie...

I hated the original series my mother made me watch....

That was until I watched this battle...

I'm not saying do it J.J., I'm just saying it would be cool and

die hard treks would love it

  • hey just let everyone know, follow the NEW batch of movies, then go to the 60's and then the 80'smovies and shows.Khan will be here soon ,younger much like JIM KIRK.

  • I'm not a trekkie and even I can tell this film was freakin awesome!

  • star trek 1-4 and first contact are my pics.

  • star trek movies started to fail after 4 because they removed the original score (starting with 4 watering it down) except for first contact (i did like) wich had its own original score but was scored by the person who originiated the music for star trek the motion picture.

  • this is the music they need to go back too, forget 2009's horrible soundtrack. thats why star trek tng's movies sucked (except first contact wich i liked) because they removed the tv's shows score wich was a direct rip off of star trek 2. star trek 2 should be the music for all star trek. 3rd favorite film of all time :) behind starwars/esb.

  • yearg

  • Indeed an awesome classic! One of my favorite movies! Just watched it on the Directors Edition DVD the other night!

  • Some of you are correct...

    The Order:

    1) This. For khan, the old school shootout tense battle, spocks performance, mccoys bad fashion choices, kirks 1 nighter

    2) Journey Home: Just for the jokes. Brilliant film, chekov and scotty esp, uhuras haircut

    3) Undiscovered country: cute plot, bit of decent fighting, sulu in command. shapeshifting. not bad

  • Since Lucas went back in time and made darth vader a total pussy, Khan is the greatest space villain of all time.

  • @ratholin hahahahahaha. 15 year wait for jar jar binks and darth vader misses his mommy and spoiling the original trilogy for anyone who hasnt seen it and wants to watch star wars 1-6 all the way through. why they didnt just have a love traingle with anakan and obi wan and padme and have everyone wondering if luke and leah were vaders or obi wans kids is beyond me. I heartily agree. Star wars episode 1 made battlefield earth look like blade runner.

  • This is The Temple Of Doom of the Star Treks.

  • One of the best Star Trek movies ever

  • Star wars sfx for the trailer?

  • @DarkKnightBob1o1 It's because they had to tell the audience that they wouldn't yawn for two hours.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm curious: Does anyone of you have the re-released TwoK Soundtrack from FSM?

  • @FekLeyrTarg Yes- it's excellent!

  • @Xon4

I agree. And so is the FSM soundtrack of TSFS. I hope that they'll release more Star Trek music soon.

  • Best Trek movie ever.

  • @GroundskeeperRonnie -

the Ceti Eel alone scene does it

  • The problem with MANY of the Star Trek movies --- including JJ Abram's Star Trek is that they have been desperately trying to replicate the same "lightning in a bottle" plot and energy that Wrath of Khan had and that's why the franchise has gotten thinner and thinner over the years.

  • One of my most favorites. the only time ive seen two federation starships actually battle against each other.

  • Kirk got more enemies than he got women! lol.

  • Khan.......the best enemy Kirk ever had..

  • @Ezza190 And, I think I'm right in saying, one of only two to face him twice, the other being Harry Mudd.

  • Watch TOS space seed episode first before watching The Wrath of Khan. I saw Khan when it first premeire in the 1980's

  • im not really a big star trek fan but i loved this new star trek movie but never seen any episodes of star trek, should i watch this anyways?

  • @themightyjoseph

    Yeah, why not?

  • @themightyjoseph yes- then youll understand what star trek REALLY is.

  • yo man must see tv show...but only new generation realy worth it ...in my personal opinion :P

  • @themightyjoseph Of all the previous films, this and "The Voyage Home" are probably the most accessible to people who aren't familiar with "Star Trek", which is quite funny since this is a sequel to an episode of TOS.

  • @GusF What about "The Undiscovered Country"?

  • @keysersoze5 I'd place it just after this and "The Voyage Home".
