does anybody have any of the early episodes on film to share....i'd love to see some from the beginning in 1963. also i heard that jana taylor (played angie costello) passed in real life a few years back. does anybody know the cause? thanks
I hope General Hospital will last long! We need to save GH! We need to support GH! And watch the show to make the ratings high! The soap operas now are getting canceled just like all my children, one life to live, as the world turns, and guiding light. :(
Another odd question that I've never go a answer too. Audrey had a older sister, I think her name was Lucy or Lucille (I could be wrong on the name) But how was Audrey's sister written out of the program???
@gotch09 Yes, Audrey had a sister named Lucille March Weeks. She was the head of Student Nurses, the post Audrey herself later had. Lucille was tough, brusque, and bombastic, but she had a heart of gold. Lucille was written out of the show when she married a man named Al Weeks, and retired. She was played by veteran actress, Lucille Wall. Hope that helps.
@AlbieGray BTW, who played Scotty Baldwin as an adult? I think his character was Laura's(of Luke and Laura) 1st husband. It seems like the actor that played Scotty had a non-identatical twin brother who for a talk show for a very short time in the 80's. Now THAT'S obscure. Maybe you can help me.
@gotch09 Scott Baldwin was played by actor Kin Shriner; and his fraternal twin brother is comedian Wil Shriner. And yes, gotch, Scott was Laura's first husband.
As far as Jessie went...they just referred to her dying in her sleep or something like that I believe. In real life, Emily McLaughlin was recognized by John Beradino (Steve Hardy) on her passing.
"All My Children" was taped in New York accross the street from the "Regis and Kelly" and "Millionaire" studios. I remember seeing "All My Children" outside the studio.
@babylou52 Your comment brought up an interesting question. I remember the very very early General Hospital. My grandmother watched it religiously. Do you remember Jesse Brewer (don't remember the actresses name)? How was she written out of the show?
Jesse Brewer was played by Emily McLaughlin. She died and they just said she
died (off camera) and in the beginning or ending of a show, John Beradino who played Dr. Steve Hardy, looked into the camera and dedicated the show to her...I miss the old cast and episodes...my email babylou52@yahoo.com if ya wanna chat more
@babylou52 i am an old gh fan....i loved and watched the early years....not many old videos show these great episodes. is there anyone who can share the oldies so we can enjoy them again?

I am glad ABC decided to air clips of the first episode from 1963. I hope they do it again in 2013, plus air some classic Luke and Laura clips.

@AlbieGray Thanks. Not many people rember Lucille. General Hospital didn't seem the same without the old crew.

Great to see Shell Kepler. Did Amy become head nurse? How did they handle the passing of Jessie Brewer, RN?

I miss this opening!!

I remember loving the old opening. It was so simple without the sappy music and faces of people at times most of whom I didn't like.

Do you miss THOSE days when we never knew any thing about contracts? Who was going..who was coming? I sometimes miss that kind of surprise...
babylou52 3 years ago
Yeah but sad thing is even knowing who's coming and going the face begining doesn't do much. They don't get rid of the faces right away.
Dizzybear 3 years ago
I agree with you. Too much of the surprise has been ruined by the soap magazines.

I never get sick of watching the Faces of the Heart opening. They never should have gotten rid of it.
