  • A rabid right-wing plutocrat out to destroy working class American families.

And he's got solid hate-mongering help from Scalia and Thomas.

    WORSE SCOTUS EVAH!

  • @SoINeedAName48 Someone isn't educated.

  • the guy's tougher than a three dollar steak. and just as smart.

  • thank you for protecting me from terrorist Mr Roberts .... shouldn't you be protecting the constitution ...im speaking of the patriot act....

  • wish not to confirm.uswe?

  • That last advice made a lot of sense!

Never thought government class would be as intense as it is, but it's interesting to hear from the Justices. It actually helps to hear their voices.

  • Thank you for posting this, CSPAN.

  • Great judge and from Indiana too!

  • judge not the bar

    /watch?v=W9iauKOKbDQ

  • Sure looks like Tom Hanks, you don't suppose he's an actor too, do you?

  • roberts just had an oral. hahahaaaa

  • I don't recall the Constitution beginning with the phrase: "We the People (including Corporations) ..."

  • The highlight of Bush's presidency was appointing Justice John Roberts. He is a great justice, unlike the two pigs Obama got on the supreme court.

  • @YHWHisSovereign

    WOW, that was ignorant.

  • Great video; awesome words. I have heard a half dozen law profs say the same thing. It's a good theory; one designed to elicit a result oriented towards justice. In practice or reality, however, the law is very people-driven. The hearts and ethics of those involved and corruption, or the lack therof, is what charts the course and determines the outcome. Great words; I believed them in my youth and law school, but total FUCKING BULLSHIT in reality. What's more, he knows it is.

  • @Parent33w Well put. Fortunately, I realized what you did, but a couple of weeks into law school.

There is no law. the "law" is purely a vehicle by which those in authority are able to effectuate their beliefs, intuitions, and desired outcome.

It is quite unfortunate and discouraging that the law is empty.

  • It's disheartening because the Constitution is actually very beautiful. I am a huge free will and freedom libertarian. Life just isn't that; not even America. It's like religion. The Bible is full of wonderful words as well. The Anti-federalist, Federalist, and Common Sense were always some of by favorites too. It's just not out there if you are a normal person. I have been listening to the oral arguments in this case; you can hear them on C-Span.

  • The orguments and questions pointed to a lot of cool things. I am not anti-corporate, but deregulation has hurt this country terribly. The whole corporate speech issue is irrelevant considering American reality. Contract law has provisions for unconscionability for good reasons. These corps/interest groups are selling the politicians. Regulations should make the environment one where "the People" know what they are buying. Anything less and voting and democracy are illegitimate. What a joke

  • A whole new field of tort, contract, and criminal law needs to be created to address the harm that is accomplished against voters, etc. by campaign finance as it currently exists. I think the Constiution should be amended myself.

  • When Obama Knows the Constitution, yhen let us all join in a civil discussion.

God Bless America, and a Happy St. Patricks Day to all.

    Galway

  • Roberts is by far the most skilled in the oratorical arts lying pig I have ever seen.

  • YOU LIE!

  • this asshole just sold out our republic to the highest bidder. "we the people" shoud demand justice from our legislators.

  • Sold out the republic??? you mean uphold the first amendment and free speech. Oh I forgot you liberals want the government to arbitrate who someone can donate too or not. Corperations and labor unions are just made up of individuals who have the right to donate or say whatever they want. isnt this America or am I missing somthing

  • @cmares58 --- i think you are missing something, if you think the issue is as simple as "free speech". and it's not a partisan issue (or at least it shouldn't be). this type of policy means that inevitably all our officials and elections will be entirely bought & owned by the wealthiest among us (and maybe foreign interests, too); if this is ok with you, then why bother defend the constitution? why not just push for an american monarchy?

  • @cmares58

Yes, you're missing a lot. The constitutional rights were designed by/for "physical" people/individuals who behave and think in a certain and (hopefully) rational/educated way. On the other hand, corporations (union is also a special kind of a corporation) are driven by entirely different "thought processes" as they are geared only toward higher and higher profits...

  • While that's true to a degree, not limiting donations has a highly corruptive effect, essentially allowing the people with the most money to "buy" elections, which severely limits the free speech of the people who don't have as much money, because money definitely talks. I'd say the decision could be seen as not "[upholding] the first amendment and free speech" as it limits the speech of all but the most wealthy.

  • Roberts you will go down as a crook in the history books.

  • Look at this man's face and remember it. He just destroyed democracy in this country, January 21, 2010. He was picked by. guess who..., yeep G.W. Bush...

Now the corporate money will take over politics. You and I don't count anymore.

  • @unamendable

    ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!!!!!!

Here comes all the stolen Halliburton money!!!!!!

  • The corporations run by the jews that caused 9/11?

  • He didn't destroy America. Americans have watch it be destroyed. Those that haven't resisted and called for accountability are as much to blame. People like him are to blame to the extent they propagate the system and fail to denigrate those they should within their "words of wisdom". The influence of corp and interest group activitity could be rendered negligible with appropriate legislation and real campaign finance reform irrespective of what was spent. BUT, they are ALL politicians.

  • rofl, Oral argument.

  • This guy had no judging experience and he was nominated to be the Chief Justice in the land?

  • it would been nicer if bush nominated scalia or kennedy or even thomas to chief justice so that the democrat would have a quicker time apointing a newer cheif justice

  • That is a rather informed comment. Justice Roberts served on the D.C. Circuit. Additionally, he argued an amount of cases before the Court that most attorneys can't even comprehend AND clerked for the now deceased Chief Justice Rehnquist.

  • thanks

  • You who think that survival of the fittest means that you can lie, steal and murder and get away with it - your day is over.

  • what on earth are you talking about?

  • lmfao, only reason i clicked on this from featured vids:

It says, "Chief Justice Roberts on Oral" and cuts off there lmao.

  • me to!
