While a lot of desirable things [Such as tails, muzzles, fur, etc] could appear, a lot of other things could go horrible wrong. Those of you who have read books such as Maximum Ride would undoubtedly know what I mean; misshapen limbs, deformed facial features, mutations could affect vital organs and even weaken/destroy them. Nevertheless, it's a very intriguing subject that is brilliant in theory; This could also be brilliant in practice centuries or decades from now.
this is interesting, just to think having the mind of a human and the physical abilaties and instinct would be just happy and more exciting the the boring-compared everyday life of a person. We are animals all ready so it would matter, we are just very smart. heck, even looking like one my be cool do, unique- the future! :)
mutations suck.....but excelerating a humans strength, speed, and brain power would be nice....but i wouldn't want to look like a fucking lizard or cat for that matter....eugenics is a thousand times better than mutations...because it would allow someone to still look the same except he would have incredible agility and strength...anyways mutations may possible, but it would take time to make it right...nowdays you'd be lucky just to even get a blood transfution with an animal...
You have a very good point. It'd be pretty cool to be a cat human or a lizard human being able to have our abilities being enhanced tenfold. We should start this experimentation!
I have to agree on this, but with tecnoligy NOW it would take years, but in 10-15 years, the time for the mutation period would probably be cut to a couple of months.
Persinaly, if there have been a copule of test runs, I'd go for it.
3: the reason politics will not touch the subject is that they really are afraid. If they did back the project and if it ent horrribly wrong, they will (unrightfully to an extent) be the scapegoat. Playing with lives can be daangerous, especially genetic makeup, which we still haven't completely mapped.
When i watched this biology was screamingout some problems... (I'm not trying to discredit your idea, just give some constructive criticism) 1: Agro viruses would need to be controlled- ie, how shall we direct the virus to produce scale cells here, new muscl clls here, etc. The virus will have the whole set of 'instructions' as it were, but not when and where to produce the certin proteins to stimulate scale growth or muscle growth etc.
you are right about people being afraid of the unknown and stuff, but they wouldn't be able to just change you now, maybe at conception or possibly with a retro virus, but they wouldn't test that on humans atleast not unless it worked perfectly on everything they tried it on
I agree its not an instant change if it were even possible but still if there were anthropomorphic people in the distant future I would hope everybody could see each other as equals. :)
people have alredy created genetic experiments but they are being put in cages and on examination tables being riped apart so there creators can see what makes them tick (they hurt what they cannot understand)
That is a very unfortunate truth. I only hope that people become more evolved to realize that no matter what we look like or what species mix we are, we are all equals even if we are part animal which we are already animals to begin with. Were just an animal called human.
Back in 1984 the japanese government authorized genetic engineering experimentation. Osamu Tezuka (the godfather of the entire manga and anime industry) saw the danger of creating life in the lab...his studio produced the TV special "Baghi" about a genetically-engineered human/animal hybrid.
Now, Tezuka's warning rings true after two decades.
Honestly, it was only a cartoon and still that cat mutation was a truly kind and wonderful creature. We shouldn't base our fears off of a cartoon when in reality genetic manipulation could prove as a huge benefit to the human and animal species alike. True this story is very close to what could happen. Humans fear what they don't understand and what they cant control. Does that truly give them the right to kill a new life form such as what was portrayed in the cartoon?
I don't think so. Humans are still primitive even if they can create computers and robots but true intelligence and wisdom comes from those few like myself who would give such creatures a home in our home, give them our food and our bed to rest in. It is a shame that less than .001% of the human race isn't as open minded as I am and a tiny handful of other people are.
Maybe in the next 100 or more years people will grow up and get wiser but until then even our natural creatures of the world must be cautious around humans for humans are truly the most destructive of all the animals on this planet.
this makes sense because i heard somewhere that we are exhausting our gene pool, this WILL lead to our extinction. if we were to mutate like the movies suggests, then we will recharge that very same gene pool by adding new info to the genetic equation. thus, we will continue to exist.

You'd have to make a lot of monsters before you got it right. I thing you would probably create more gene defects than functioning traits

With everything there are risks that must be taken to progress in science. Otherwise we would still be in the dark ages today.

The only thing humanity is good for is turning the world into a giant death factory.

As long as they are those who are afraid, this may never happen, not even for another thousand years.

Sorry for the bad grammer.
