the problen with a lot of the electronic music today is its edgy for no particular reason and it lacks the melody and pretiness of a song such as this
I remember this song as a kid in elementary school. Great song! This was a time when life was so much simpler, people were friendlier, and were trusting of each other. Nice video!
Glad to see the guys back together again after all these years(our cousin Is Mickey Lesprone ,lead guitar and vocals ) Money and contract disputes caused the breakup....I believe the band would have surpassed Santana.. El Chicanos sound is unique!.I hope they one day achieve their well deserved Grammy!
I'm a proud CHICANO man, who wonders y beautiful women change when "you tell her u love her"! And not only telling her she's lovely. That by my actions?
@YouMuseMe There are some "real good oldies" stations on the Internet. Radioio has a great 70's pop station that will play songs like this. As far as finding some good stations on FM radio, it's not going to happen. They only care about advertisers and ratings so they rely on their "tried and true" formulas for radio success. It's why radio is so crummy these days.
MY RESPECTS TO (MICHEAL LESPRON) YOUR GRANDPA BABY ....SINCERLY.....BUT THE TRUE FACTS ARE AINT NOBODY CAN TAKE CARLOS SANTANA...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RECOGNIZE!!!! AND THEN WE GUN LEAVE IT ALONE!
For starters, listen to those guitar harmonies -- Carlos Santana was nowhere near that on his first album (I was 16 in 1970) it had much more jazz pop/latin credibility since I was starting on guitar......"People want to....." Listen to that tritone modulation there, light years ahead of most pop at the time. And the bass line just defies words and could'nt be any tighter.
these were the good old days in sanjose,ca.Imoved to cal;if from ogden, utah used to throw concerts at the fairgrounds.I remember booking these guys for a gig with the latin allstars,Pete escobedo was playing percussion.I remember meeting his little daughter Sheilas who is now Sheila E.She got up and played with here dad must have been 5 yrs old.whata show.I will never forget it.Thank you for the great memories. i must of fell in love 365 times that year.Great year for Music

Bobby Espinosa, a keyboard player who helped create El Chicano" has died. He was 60.
Espinosa died Saturday night after a long illness.
Along with other local Latino bands War and Tierra, El Chicano played a funky, jazzy mix of R&B and pop music tinged with salsa. An offshoot of an East L.A. cover band called the VIPs, El Chicano quickly gained a following in 1970 with Viva Tirado, Part I, a riff on a jazz recording by Gerald Wilson
