I've been carrying around this game since buying it brand-new all those years ago. I never beat it then as I didn't know about the research tree bug and didn't have Internet access at the time. Despite it's inefficient interface, old graphics, and trouble getting it to work on a 64-bit OS I really enjoy it. I'm also doing much better than I did when I was 12.
I've played all the remakes that I can find, but they're just not the same.
You're selling the torp launcher? I always keep one guy as designated torp user (with high acc). It saved my behind countless times.
Can't help thinking that you're probably causing more damage to yourself than enemy because you're choosing soldiers that are brave but can't hit the side of a barn. I'd take a cowardly sniper over a brave generic soldier any day.
Is it not better to choose a most accurate troops so they could hit something at least or with good strength to throw grenades? Or you could choose leave all as is and send poor bastards to scout instead of "genetic selection" and loosing money.
I'm even not talking about mc lottery. That's significant reason to "genetic selection" procedure.
@ProjectVRD LOL !! Yup, it would've -- grammar issues notwithstanding. But how's "I gotta check my 'Aquanuts', (see how are they hanging in there)" any better?! ;-)
I thought XCOM recruits were the best of the best?
Instead of recruiting them from bloody seamen, why not recruit from, say, the SAS,Spetznaz and Navy Seals? Thats something that really gets me.... if your going against an interplanetary mencace, you dont send rookies.....
Heh, choosing soldiers on bravery is a newbie mistake. Firing accuracy, reactions and TUs are far more important, to avoid morale problems in the first place. And bravery's effect is lessened when you have an officer behind the lines. At the very worst, if you still care that much, you can use low-bravery soldiers as meatshields. But yeah, a 60 bravery 40 firing accuracy soldier is not good - brave but incompetent
This does sound like you're talking over the phone. It's a bit distracting. Nevertheless, judging from this video you seem entertaining, so I'll ignore the sound issues. :P
Oh, and if any of the three first X-Coms suck, it's this one. Game breaking bugs, and horrible, HORRIBLE design changes. Not to mention that the world map is much less accurate than in the original. I could draw a better one from memory than what that map looks like.
for some reason all I can think while listening to your voice is that your oddly loud breathing helps to make it feel like we're underwater.
Jk, commentary is awesome. I was a fan of Necroscope as well, but he was a bit slow and a bit dry (DID YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE), you're a bit more energetic.
@Glorkas2 Greater attachment to your troopers you're sending out blindly into the dark. If they're named after people you actually know you might...just might...exercise the right levels of caution. ;-)
dude why i cant play this it is all shit the graphics (DONT ask i have shit pc i can run games like cs 1.6 with no problem so THIS shouldnt be prob i read from manual needs like 33megahertz of mem I HAVE 2.6 GIGAHERTZ and other stuff are too good lol anyways it is all shit it looks like the disc is shitty inserted or sth (when i play games on the old sort of games like mario and stuff its all long and like it was squashed and is flat pls help me its awesome game (P.S good vid loved it
Without chemical flares, you are going to get your clock cleaned on the night missions. If you plan on exploiting the game to avoid the night missions, then what is the point in watching this? It would be more interesting to watch you take on the toughest challenges this game has to offer.
I never researched gause or laser technology for ufo. I start of with med kits and go straight for the allien technology, The allien rifles and canons are all you need to slaughter the green man.
And about the mod, if you have decent experience with the game you should not use cheats. Although the initial base layout and management options are good try to stay of the real cheats.
Cheater :P lol true heroes do it without all gear you need at the start but hey if you dont have confidence in your abilities then each to their own :)
ow men i love this game is awsome i also play to,i finish them a two o trhee times but i keep playing xDD is so good
P.S:the smoke granadeis not so usefull is only for cover i say the best item is the chemical flares and aslo how do you do to get the barracudas and mantas transports ships and also you get sws in you hammerheads LOL xD
LOL, instead of using smoke grenades, which are basically the most useful item in the game - he installs a mod that makes everything easier...and then he sells smoke grenades making everything harded. Such irony.
Nothing funny about that, XComUtil is an incredibly useful (and popular) utility for the game that fixes a lot of the really bad inherent bugs, and does a variety of minor tweaks to remove tedium, such as saving the equipment loadouts on your soldiers/aquanauts so you don't have to manually rearrange everyone's gear at the start of a mission. It doesn't make the game 'Easier' at all by default, other than easier to manage
40 Bravery is sufficient to treat a soldier as something other than fodder, especially if you have an officer present to help their morale. If they're 30 or below, fire them or use them as fodder, but don't turn your nose up at 40 Bravery.
For example, Gerhard Schultz had 60 TUs, 53 Reactions, and 69 Firing Accuracy -- that's GREAT for a starting aquanaut (in fact, he has max starting TUs and only one point shy of max FA). His Bravery could easily end up going up if some of his comrades die.
Dude, I am sorry but you are already using some modifications which make your life a LOT easier, and yet you still go with experienced? It seems you are deep into this x-com thing, why didn't you go with at least veteran? I know superhuman is... basically madness, but at least you could have gone genius. I will watch your videos, but hardcore fans of the series are the ones that'll watch you, and they would have been happier to see harder levels...
A vaild question, I did this forr a few reasons, I hadnt played TFTD in a very long time, I was playing xcom ufo before i started the lp, but I still wasnt sure what to expect so I figured a little lower would work. A lot of people have never seen TFTD before and I wanted to make sure if I did this lp that it would last, i could adjust and help these people as I adjust via your guys tips etc. And I just chosse it cause it seemed iike a good pick at the time :) Hope that explains it a bit.
wat this is my fancey smancey drill bit show wait did i say that right uh oh this is just a stupid comment but i must go now for his comentry makes me want to drill a hole in my head
@SgtHydra Awesome?! For what?!? Surely not for playing a *trained* game, and on a low difficulty setting as well !!... Because, if that's 'awesome', then I *REALLY* wonder how'd you feel about finishing the game on Superhuman, with no helpers...
*hehe* thanks so much he did a great job on that cant wait till he does more. TY So much for the sub its appricated and hopefully I can get these out as much as possible.
I belive I have I watched as many as I could find why I wasnt sure weather to do TFTD or not but when I saw there was no LP of it but of just the orignal XCOM i thought it fit nicely as a start. Glad you agree :)
cant run windows version.... crap.

also, high bravery leads to big drops in other stats, its hard to find a aquanout with 50 bravery, and high health, TU etc
