Sigh.... his men might have loved him in the civil war, they hated his GUTS in the indian wars. He didn't give a rats ass about his troops, Custer was for Custer, first, last, and allways. Like his superior ( Sheridan) Custer even by the standars of his time was vicious, nasty and murderous. Interesting "take" in this documentary... but some claims made in this are completly inaccurate.
the soldiers got what they deserved and custer they were baby killers if all the natvie americans were together we would have kick all of there ass back to erup
@OAKLANDCHICANOS14 I very much doubt you would have got all the native Americans to fight on one side - although Little Big Horn demonstrates what might have happened had that been possible.
@OAKLANDCHICANOS14 I agree . I don't belong to my white body. In fact China should give back Tibet to it's people tomorrow. Or put this way if China gets the hell out of Tibet tomorrow than us white and black men must go back to Africa and Erup.
Lessons of Little Big Horn, as taught in US special operations: 1. ALWAYS listen to your scouts. 2. ONLY attack a force superior to your own if you have stealth & fire superiority. Custer ignored his scouts and he attacked a force superior to his own without stealth and fire superiority. Spec ops proverb: Never let your ego command your judgement. Vice Custer "could have" won at Little Big Horn: next time you see a stripper w/out tits, let me know.
The Souix and Cheyenne brought superior force to bear on an enemy, sound tactics. But anyone who doubts that the 7th could have survived given decent weapons should study the Battle of Plevna where the Turks, using Winchester repeaters, mowed down a massive Russian assault. That sounds like I wish more Indians had been killed but I don't. Just another armchair general.
@deriter64 A lot of us offer analysis that may sound brutal. It does not mean you are, not that you have taken sides. Go on offering your opinions like this - I for one appreciate it.
@alanheath3 Well, thanks. I'm always wary of being regarded as bloodthirsty when I offer an amateur opinion about military history and I'm not. Just interested.. For instance, I read a lot about the Black Plague but that doesn't mean I want to catch it.
@kelvingxie The Wikepedia article on Plevna has references to publications about the battle and the use of the Winchester. That article refers to the rifles as U.S. manufactured while I've always understood they were manufactured under licence in Turkey. Whatever, they helped hold up a five to one superiority in manpower and gave the Ottomans a little more clout at the Congress of Berlin. Best.
@TheCowboyfan67 Hey, don't get upset, I'm just relating what I read. No one doubts the quality of U.S. firearms, Colt, Winchester, Remington. But it is odd that so many police departments arm their people with some model of a Barreta, especially considering there are many street officers that want to go back to the 1911 for its reliability and stopping power.
@deriter64 guess youre right beretta is a big gun company but people are getting fed up with imported chinese crap so they want to return to using the colts
