He was denied a liver not only because of his use of the drug, but it was later found that even if given a new liver, he would still die, so they decided to let him die instead of wasting/delaying a liver to another patient who would live. The media took the marijuana thing out of control and potheads got pissed. Damn hippies.

I don't think he should be denied a transplant, I am not without compassion. I do know that a the liver of a live donor will regrow, so I am saying since this man has little time left according to his doctors, then someone here who is in good health and believes he should be allowed a transplant, then make yourselves available immediately. The organ from a live donor helps out a lot, because the recipient is not adding to the list of all those already waiting for an organ.

Well if knew that at best most transplant patients get another 5 yrs and the number of medication, it is not really a good thing, it is cheating your fate, so sad this misbelief that a transplant will solve his health problems it will only extend furtilatity of it all give the transplant to a younger person not this one .. Isn't hepatitis C almost always spread by IV drug usage in the US? All blood donations have been screened since 1992. Sad it sucks. I had a close friend die of liver failure waiting for a liver. More people need to sign up for organ donation. When you die you no longer need your organs, so why not donate them to save peoples lives?

You are very badly misinformed, Hepatitis C can be spread only by blood to blood contact and it isn't always by IV Drug use. It can be by blood transfusions, tatoo parlors that are not clean and even at a Dentist office where they don't sterlize tools good enough.

The problem is that there is not enough awareness about this disease and people get labled as drug users when it may or may not be the case.

Take the story for instance about the clinic just recently in California that gave 300 or more people Hep C thru colonoscopies. I am not speading misinformation, I am spreading awareness. Your right about blood testing but people have it today from before they started testing.

Your research into gout is well misinformed, you recycle old incorrect wives tales of gout, diet does play a role in the illness but the underlying factor is genetic, gout suffers either produce too much uric acid or the kidneys fail to remove enough either will cause gout to form. There is do doubt that what is happening to Tim is a miscarriage of justice. Unfortunately that is how things are in the US nowadays.
