Basically I think he represents the Spirit in/of Nature. So he can be seen similar to the horned god. But Frey and similar gods from many cultures are probably the origin for the horned god. This archetype is beyond religion. Tarzan is green man, in a way. Can't you think of a few other "nature boys" depicted in our culture ? The sacred masculine is badly needed and dearly loved .

The Green man was pagan symbol/deity, later taken up by the Celtic and Catholic Churches, which amongst things denoted, harmony, ecology, agriculture and fertility. Aswell as being the often male counterpart to long held idea of Mother Nature, or as some suggest it's the origin of Mother Nature.
The Green Man and the Horned God are seen as one being/deity, correct?
