I love your videos, specially the popin cookin , candy ones!

  • this is definitely not good for the environment . They use so much plastic for one onigiri!

  • 0:56 keep presing its funny

  • really clever!! i used to eat onigiri all the time when i was in Japan also, bento boxes. but i never tried the conbini maki sushi.

  • Now I want to have that but I can't get it in Canada!

  • oiishi desu ne ^o^

  • You have the best takeout food ever, I'm jealous! :)

  • whats 98 yen in american dollars???

  • @meganandremmie33 98 Japanese yen = 1.258222 U.S. dollars (1.26)

  • @meganandremmie33 About a dollar. :)

  • Wouldn't it be better if they use wax paper as a lining for the nori instead of plastic?

  • i would love to try some too~ i'm hungry ..

  • wow store bought onigiri are really bad for the environment. Look how much plastic they're using for one onigiri.

  • ooh emmy , you look like HIKAKIN .. is he ur brother?

  • ほっしゃん

  • the one thing i dislike about commercial onigiri is the wasteful use of plastic just for this simple snack..

  • @theMilkz How about the wasteful use of plastic just for 30% chips in a potato chip bag? (¯3¯)

  • @gmwings the use of plastic for packaging in itself is a vice for the environment. however, i'd imagine wrapping onigiri with biodegradable, recycled paper would be a better option. i doubt they keep those items overnight in stores anyway.

  • I want one of these so bad! They look so Yummy :)

  • from where i come from, we have cone shaped onigiri. and i think its called california handroll and its really good:)

  • I am kinda hungry now.... :(

  • hey you know if all that plastic is biodegradant?

  • I love the way nori snaps when you bite into it. I would probably like the sushi roll better because I like vinager.

  • love your vids!

  • zushi? lol

  • Where can I get this in America, specifically Ohio? Anyone know?

  • i tried unwrapping the onigiri once but the end was tough so i ripped it apart and my onigiri flew out the window, ):

  • I dont get hungry when i watch your videos anymore cayuse i come prepared! ;))) I have homemade onigiri right now! ;) Thanks emmy!

  • @SweetBayCharms - lol. Way to strategize. :)

  • @SweetBayCharms I need to start doing thatXD

  • Gooooooodd, that looks so delicious. I can't wait to get back home so I can fill up my rice cooker and make onigiri until my craving is satiated.

  • i'm drooling now....lol

  • Can you make a video about instant ramen?

  • I wanna try onigiri. xDD

    Looks cool. x]

  • What does Nori taste like?

  • @emmymadeinjapan How much is 98 Yen in USD?

  • @webcamfan2569 It's gonna be just over a dollar. So maybe, 1.50? About..

  • I once got one of the onigiri, I didn't know how to open it (cause I don't understand japanese and I'm american raise *lazy*) I completely ruined it, but ate it anyways. ahah

  • They sound so crunchy and delicious o.o

  • I really want to try this but I think it'd be hard to find in the us...:/

  • @TheDeathlyHallowsx You can make it! Albeit you won't have the fun plastic unwrapping experience, but OMG the crunchy nori effect will be the same!

  • @vailismyname im not even sure where to buy nori! they really look great though!

  • @TheDeathlyHallowsx Hmmmm I know that in most grocery stores here you can buy it in the ethnic food section, however I'm in Canada so I'm not too sure if it's as easy to come by elsewhere. Look for the plastic packages of it! Usually either comes in 10 or 20 sheet packages.

  • Omg....i have never had this before.....but it looks so good.....sharing is caring :)

  • i might try seasoning my onigiri rice, not sure with what more the black pepper

  • So Nora is seaweed

  • how do we use yen??

  • I love the THOUGHT and engineering that goes into this simple, tasty snack, but I'm left with a twinge of guilt regarding the plastic.

  • I ate this today. The salmon spicy one. I love it .

  • I love eating onigiri my i am not good at opening it, always falls apart

  • I made my own onigiri with tuna mayo, it was good but i have to get use to the briney taste of the nori but i loved the snap of the nori.

  • I want to eat one of those sooo bad. lol good luck finding it here in baltimore!

  • first time i bought onigiri, i destroyed the packaging and the experience wasnt good. i just bought another one so i could follow your instructions:D thank you!

  • I remembered when me and my mom bought Maki Zushi, we didn't know how to do get the rice and nori together and ended up breaking the rice in half. Glad you did this video XD!

  • i am from the UK and i saw a lady in the park who i believe is japanese giving these to her daughter but not from packaging she must of made them and took out of a bento box i couldnt help but stare as i was sitting there with a dull sandwich

  • @chilliconcarnie1 - Sandwiches can be yummy too :)

  • I loove onigiri, but the normal ones, with nothing inside.

  • OMG EMMY EMMY I GOT IT I GOT IT I HAVE BOX MEAL AND JUST ADD WATER LIKE POPIN COOKIN AND U MIX IT IT CALLS '' QUICKEATS'' OOOOHOHOHH I LOVE IT THANKS FOR ALL YOUR VIDEOS SO THAT NOW I HAVE AN IDEA HOW WILL I DO IT !!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH EMMY KEEP SAFE ^_^

  • I love onigiri I want to find a place to buy it near me!

  • LOL IT SAID ZUSHI! hah

  • @monkeygirl243 Like French language, Japanese words some time make "liaison?" (I forgot the spelling) change the sound when particular word comes after certain sound. Maki-zushi(rolled sushi) instead of Maki-sushi, either is correct, but in this came Zushi is more proper.

  • I had a rice thing from my univ co-op in japan. It was just like a solid block of rice with egg seasoning and nori seasoning but not wrapped at all. What would that be called?

  • @SeanTaco - It's probably an onigiri too. There are infinite combinations and many don't have any nori :)

  • i tried the onigiri, i love it !! i had the tuna kim chi mmmmmm!!!

  • We call them rice balls, is that the same meaning? I like mine with grilled salmon or chicken salad, or seaweed salad..anything goes! I'm going to look for that sushi-tube thingie in my Japanese market. You are making me sooo hungry! : - )

  • @startingoutbackwards Do you make them home? Try coating the surface of onigiri with soy source (brushing) and broil it over heat. It will make very flavorful (& warm) we call it Yaki-onigiri.

  • ohya the packaging in singapore sucks too, they stuck scotch tape at the openings and its difficult to open it the same way as u...i just rip them off and end up spoiling the nori -___-

  • Omg i tot thr would be nth from japan in singapore, but i found this onigiri w the same packaging in ebi sushi!! they only have crabmeat, tuna, and salmon though. have only tried the tuna before and it tasted ok...i like the rice tho. havent try crabmeat bt it sounds gross, yuck, mushy crabmeat

  • I wish I saw this video before I went to Japan.

  • @x3MMT - Oh, next time :)

  • @x3MMT Haha me too! I bought onigiri from 7-11 and unwrapped them like I was playing with a Rubik's Cube.

  • |: Emmy even thought this is not a candy video this makes me happy about geting my tooth out :) (:

  • you made me crave a tunamayo onigiri! so i went down and got one ^o^

  • they should do that with mochi have the paste seperate from the mochi than your roll it on to the mochi

  • I want some!!! Wonder if they sell those here in the suburbs of Chicago? Any Japan store or? Where?

    Regards,

    Tasha

  • In Singapore the rice is packed with just a sushi behind and we have no tabs to pull. Why can't Japan export this to everywhere else!

  • This jst made me want sushi! Gosh Im hungry now :/

  • 山田花子にしか見えない

  • こんなところに山田花子

  • i had a migraine just watching the maki zushi unwrap @_@

  • Wow, I didn't realize onigiri had such complicated packaging. Ahah, at least I'll know how to unwrap one now.

  • ほっしゃんに似てる

  • Nice :) Haha.

  • so complex!!! lol

  • www

  • that is some complicated packaging but sure is clever ^^

  • seems like the japanese are the kings and queens of packaging

  • I Love Onigiri. I had one yesterday! The only thing is I HATE mayo. hahaha. I think the Okaka ones are really good

  • Food porn. Lol

  • Do you know if they have a nutrition label on them

  • That is so funny. I just bought one and couldnt see the instructions. How appropriate for you to put this one up. Thanks!

  • yum~ i used to make these halfway of my 1st yr in university xD... my tastebuds still cant get used to poutine and Tim Horton's.. lol... just hope we have these packaged ones in cafeteria... for sudden asian cravings xD

  • Is there different flavors i'm allergic to sea foods :T

  • @mimi157441 dont worry there are hundreds or more.

  • @bottomOFair thx :D that makes me really happy!!

  • @mimi157441 - They're tons :) A couple non-seafood flavors off the top of my heads are: chicken mayo & umeboshi or pickled plum. Try inventing your own & add whatever your heart desires.

  • @emmymadeinjapan thx :)

  • once i finished watching this video my dad brought home some onigiri from the asian market near my house!!! :D weird... such a coincidence

  • @bearythebearbear - What a co-inki-dink :)

  • so THAT'S how you get it to open without ripping half the nori off. i always end up ruining my onigiri because i didn't know how to open it and it would collapse on me. ):

  • I wish I lived in Japan. I would be eating healthier. : - (

  • That's soo cute

  • When I was little there was a carnival held at Maryknoll, a Catholic school in Los Angeles, every year. Many of the Students were Japanese or of Japanese decent and a lot of the food was Japanese. One dish I had was called "something" Zushi. It seemed like sushi on a plate without being wrapped up in Nori. Do you know the name of this dish?

  • @BillardFriend - It might be chirashi zushi, a type of sushi where the 'filling' is sprinkled over top the seasoned rice. yummy

  • Cool! ;o

  • cool

  • hahaha there is exactly the same thing in korea lol

and there is a make it your self thing also

  • @bassya123 - Yes, I've seen the kits back home in the Korean market, but haven't seen them yet in Japan.

  • YAY your hair is crazy again!

  • This is a very familiar process for me. I buy onigiri at one of the Famima convenience stores here in Los Angeles all the time. They are delicious. My favorite is the Umeboshi one but they introduced a california roll style one that is really good too. The steamed buns are the other thing I get there all the time. Those are great too.

  • i had a maki sushi roll this morning i think .. it had spicy ahi in it .

  • i want to know about the packaging!! >.<!! :)

  • Good Lord, if I went to a school in Japan as a foreigner that'd suck! Cause I'll probably buy Onigiri at a Conbini and I'll forget about the instructions to open it! So then I'll become more of a 愚かな外国人

  • the clylinder is more like a regular sushi roll

  • Umai!!

  • Yay another Emmy video!!! I want to go to Japan just to EAT!! Everything looks so delicious.

  • oooo so that's how u open it....i normally would mess up the whole onigiri because i don't know how to open it DX

  • man i eat the store-bought onigiri ALL the time whenever i'm in taiwan for the summer. :) they're so fun to unwrap!

  • is Nori a type of fish??

  • @ColorsInMyHair its pretty much seaweed..

  • @ColorsInMyHair it means SEEWEED!!

    NOT a fish!

  • @ci6dy66 i know it means seaweed, im not stupid but if seaweed is from the sea does that mean that vegetarians cant eat it?

  • @ColorsInMyHair - Yes, seaweed is a plant.

  • @emmymadeinjapan thanks!

  • I´m ashamed what is the reason for all the plastic again? is the rice so wet or why the seperation?

  • @MrBrokensoul26 It's separated so the rice doesn't make the nori soggy; if there was no plastic to separate it, chances are the nori will be soggy by the time somebody buys it, and it's not as pleasant to eat as crispy nori.

  • @Spooniechuuu

    Oh...ok thanks..I´m new with onigiri :)

  • @Spooniechuuu

    Oh...ok thanks..I´m new with onigiri :)

  • That is really smart!! I love it!

  • I wouldn't mind nori but every time I try it, it tastes fishy even if the dish doesn't contain fish. I heard that fish actually gets caught in the seaweed and gets made into the nori. I'm not sure if that's true. It could be I haven't had high quality nori!

  • Emmy, I've seen onigiri with red bean paste in them.. What does that taste like? It seems so yummy.

  • just curious emmy, how many onigiri do people normally eat to fill themselves up? I've had 2 and it's never enough for me XD

  • @yami3242 - Depends on how big your belly is :) I usually them as a snack, so one's enough for me.

  • Whenever I'm really hungry, I go to the supermarket to buy an onigiri.

But I'm so hungry that I pull the plastic off properly but never fold the seaweed to stick the rice!

I don't have the patience for the maki as well hehe

  • Lol - I just realised that i was clapping my hands & going "Oooooh" when you unwrapped them ! But i just think its so cool ! :D

  • @RavneLoort :)

  • @RavneLoort That's adorable!

  • @PINKbyVictoriaS Heheh x'3

  • I'm in love with nori...and wakame... <3

  • I LOVE Onigiri

  • Wow, complicated packaging xD
