from the library...I have been reading some interviews and it appears Michael doesn't feel the book or film represent him accurately so do not spend the money. In the book there is some sliver of compassion or recognition despite addictions and destructive behavior the mom had some love in her heart but in one interview she is dismissed as nothing more than a birthing vessel so I don't know what to make of it except Mike did go from "lost" to found and also to a good student as well. Best!
There is a great aspect to southerners that northerners dont understand. I lived in Georgia for 12 years and encountered some of the most beautiful people in the world. At one point, I was sick and alone. Some of these rednikks came to my doorstop to give me food. There was nothing to prompt them. They found out where I lived and went there.
In Queens, I couid pass out and die on my doorstep now, and my death wouldnt be re ported until my body smelled.
Yes, my tired eyes have read the book and I saw the film. I liked the book better than the film. The Collector also written by John Fowles was also made in to a film. He was a highly imaginative author. Merci!
