I rediscovered Quo in '75 when their backlog of LPs hit the cut-out racks. I had no idea they had done anything beyond the "Matchstick Men" days. I also had no idea they were hugely popular in Europe, but viewed as dinosaurs by the rock press there.
So it's '76, this comes out, and no one in the States knows, because the hipster press is going nuts over the Ramones and punk.
As far as I can hear, the Quo beat the Ramones to the punch.with their Piledriver LP in '72.
What's with the stooopid triangle thing during the performance? U don't fook around with music this honest and raw. U just film it as it is in the flesh, no fancy crap.
hhmmm.... Piledriver, Hello!, Quo, On The Level, Blue For You, Live, Rockin' All Over The World. Gotta be Heaven!! Still crank up the volume when I put them on!! The Mrs doesn't understand me!! Get out the air guitar!! lmao!!
how can one dislike this Video? These where the dayz!!!! I thank Quo from the depths of my heart for influencing me deeply with their sound between 'Mw Kelly's..' and the 'Live' record. ULTIMATE rock! Best!! Liveact on earth!
Newworldman, i would say with the shameful rockin all over the world their downgrade began. In the worst possible way.
I was 7yrs when i began to listen to quo back in 1980 and the Live Album was one of my most if not the most essential record of my early years. It's also the best live album ever released!
think it is out of question that Quo has been most heavy rocking in the 70s with Alan and John. Well John broke up the original line-up when he left, and I didn't like the idea of having a different bass player when they did the comeback. But even in the 70s you could hear that Francis and Rick did not get along well with Alan over the years. So no matter whos fault it is, we have to accept that most 70s bands are not touring in their orignal line-up anymore.
LMAO, well, another blinding comment there loverat50, proving to me even more than before that the "50" is indeed your IQ. I don't think the amount of times i have seen Quo in the last 30 years is neither here nor there, the fact of the matter is Lancaster is gone and JC ?? Well, as far as i know John Cleese never played with Quo :) Do your knuckles hurt much when you walk ? :)
Were you born retarded or are you working on it loverat50 ? If it's the latter you should get a medal. So, did you read what i wrote ? Did someone not explain what it all meant ? Obviously not, you just have a boner for Coghlan and Lancaster and saw red i guess. Other than rockerstar101, you're all talking out of your arses and shouldn't even be considering yourselves "Quo Fans". I'm sick of reading this bullshit about Lancaster and Coghlan, Lancaster was a whining bitch who got what he deserved, the boot and personally i think Rhino pisses all over him. So do me a favour, enjoy Quo for what they are and not for what they were, all versions of the band have kicked butt and having seen every line up live i think they are sounding better than ever.
the only one talking shit is you ianandterri/ it shows wat the fuck you know about quo /tyo say they sound better today /is so thick and sums it up wat you know about them fuck all /i think you will find the quo far better in the early 70s and the early 80s and sold more lps and sold more shows /wat you have said is so thick /and to call urself a quo fan to say the new quo are better /wise up go and fellow some other band like pink /lol quo rock in the 70s with lancaster and jc/i know saw them
I never saw the Frantic 4, however when I saw JC in Aldershot last year, it was clear to me anyway, that it's not the bass playing that's the void, but the drums.
JC is in my opinion, up there with Bonham in terms of power, which is what half the Quo sound to me is anyway.
I totally agree. Mr Lancaster is lost for SQ. I´m really sorry as your are. I´m also missing Mr Coghlan on the drums. Year 70-76 was the best lineup. Thou i think they should kept Mr Lynes all years. I havent seen the band live ever. Had the chance once -75 but i spent all my money on a girl that time, but we where listening to SQ. Does that make me less of a SQ lover & fan? Dont think so..

Yes Quo sold more lps in the 70s and early 80s, but they are still selling records, selling out arenas etc now. I couldn't care less how many times you've seen them, it doesn't mean you know them better than anyone. Being a Quo fan isn't about how many times you have seen them, it's about supporting them. the 70s Quo were Ace, but there is nothing wrong with the current Quo

This video seriously get's as close to the core as possible, now I know again why my first record I ever bought (Apollo Live) is still among my favorites, what a drive!!!
Can't remember this. I was on their lighting crew for the Rocking all over the world tour which started October '77, so if this was '77 it must've been early '77. Great to see this, brings it all back, thanks!
Pretty sure this is one of three tracks from the "Pop Awards" show from Stafford Bingley Hall from early 1977, I need to check the ticket stubs for the exact date. This was the first of 130+ Quo gigs for me including the the last 11 dates of "The End of the road Tour" (1984), 7 at Hammersmith - 2 at Southampton - Crystal Palace and Milton Keynes.
This sounds like one of the two gigs (could be wrong) that they played at the Glasgow Apollo in '77; the other being the Quo Live (was that '77? Gettin' old...) recorded double LP - at the top of their game at that time...but it was to be all downhill after that. They followed up with their disappointing Rockin' All Over the World studio album next.
But please...some more footage of these gigs in Glasgow, if you have it!
Not perfect but looking pretty good for a 30 year old clip. Song more ferocious live than on record. Still surprised their later music isn't well known in the states.
i agree.i love quo but without lancaster the band lost their soul
