  • i agree.i love quo but without lancaster the band lost their soul

  • I'm sure this was the Daily Mirror awards ?

  • My god were they brilliant!!!

  • I rediscovered Quo in '75 when their backlog of LPs hit the cut-out racks. I had no idea they had done anything beyond the "Matchstick Men" days. I also had no idea they were hugely popular in Europe, but viewed as dinosaurs by the rock press there.

So it's '76, this comes out, and no one in the States knows, because the hipster press is going nuts over the Ramones and punk.

As far as I can hear, the Quo beat the Ramones to the punch.with their Piledriver LP in '72.

  • so tight at 2.30 on totally brill

  • What's with the stooopid triangle thing during the performance? U don't fook around with music this honest and raw. U just film it as it is in the flesh, no fancy crap.

  • great song - 2mins 46 - 2mins48 reminds me of knightrider

  • @sempervivum44 I always thought that part had a middle eastern flavour.

  • NEJLEPŠÍ ROKENROLOVÁ SKUPINA VŠECH DOB. JÁ OSOBNĚ JSEM VYROST NA AC DC A GEORDIE ALE JE TAKÉ MILUJI

  • the days as quo was rockin'

after coghlan and lancaster left the band died, at least their groove did!

and with the armyjoke they burried themselfs alive!

so here's the good old days, in unbelievable bad quality...

  • Great Eatern Rock'n'Blues Express in der Westfalenhalle Dortmund Ostern 1977, Status Quo als Headliner, supergeiles Konzert, vergess ich nie:

    Quoo-oohohoohoh!!!

  • der erste Konzertbesuch meines Lebens 1977 Stadthalle Bremerhaven, absolut genial!

  • @heisteg

Mein erster Konzertbesuch war 1975 in der kölner Sporthalle. Das berste und eins der besten Konzerte die ich bislang miterleben dürfte.

    Status Qou forever.

  • status quo rock and are even better now than they were back in the day they play there songs in a modern way on tour which is awesome i have to say

  • hhmmm.... Piledriver, Hello!, Quo, On The Level, Blue For You, Live, Rockin' All Over The World. Gotta be Heaven!! Still crank up the volume when I put them on!! The Mrs doesn't understand me!! Get out the air guitar!! lmao!!

  • how can one dislike this Video? These where the dayz!!!! I thank Quo from the depths of my heart for influencing me deeply with their sound between 'Mw Kelly's..' and the 'Live' record. ULTIMATE rock! Best!! Liveact on earth!

  • the last real good studio album they made Blue for you

  • Frantic Four, Class...End Of Story

  • Thanks for putting this on here great band and great song just as I remember them.

    Cheers

  • Is that Stafford Bingley Hall??

  • Was sixteen that year, Quo fanatic, caught them at the Glasgow Apollo few times, pure magic.

  • When Status Quo lost Alan Lancaster, their original bassist, they lost a lot of their energy.

  • @DieNetaDie I agree Alan was the one who wanted to keep the rock side to their music and Francis liked the country side.

  • @DieNetaDie

enery lost in 81 when john left, they DIED when Alan left

  • Shame they did not use Lancaster more on vocals.

  • this is rock n roll!

  • after "whatever you want" quo turned into a crap cabaret band.............and they are still doing it.how the mighty have fallen.

  • Certainly better songs back then!

  • nwm123 , unfortunately u nailed it, as metallica growled, sad but true

  • Newworldman, i would say with the shameful rockin all over the world their downgrade began. In the worst possible way.

I was 7yrs when i began to listen to quo back in 1980 and the Live Album was one of my most if not the most essential record of my early years. It's also the best live album ever released!

  • Its not that alan is/was better than Rhino, but I feel he gave the band "balance", as regards not being just being all about Parfitt and Rossi

  • think it is out of question that Quo has been most heavy rocking in the 70s with Alan and John. Well John broke up the original line-up when he left, and I didn't like the idea of having a different bass player when they did the comeback. But even in the 70s you could hear that Francis and Rick did not get along well with Alan over the years. So no matter whos fault it is, we have to accept that most 70s bands are not touring in their orignal line-up anymore.

  • WOW!Did you have a video recorder in 1977??We did'nt get one until 1983!

  • LMAO, well, another blinding comment there loverat50, proving to me even more than before that the "50" is indeed your IQ. I don't think the amount of times i have seen Quo in the last 30 years is neither here nor there, the fact of the matter is Lancaster is gone and JC ?? Well, as far as i know John Cleese never played with Quo :) Do your knuckles hurt much when you walk ? :)

  • Were you born retarded or are you working on it loverat50 ? If it's the latter you should get a medal. So, did you read what i wrote ? Did someone not explain what it all meant ? Obviously not, you just have a boner for Coghlan and Lancaster and saw red i guess. Go wipe the drool off your chin and put your dummy back in, then read slowly what i said in my post, it said ALL versions of Quo rocked, that would include the decades you are living in right now too.

  • my favorite song of the album blue for you

Lancaster is a great singer, too bad he left the band

  • ianandterri/ retarded .you are the fucking retarded. /at least i have saw quo in my days /wat about you .maybe 1 are 3 times /you dick sucker .and for you /i hate the new quo ok /bcause they suck now ok /they play like shit now /but when alan was there and jc were there they were men . ok is that to hard for you to understand /learn a bit more about quo .next time .i have had my good times watching quo live in the 70s and early 80s /wat about you know it all have you

  • the only one talking shit is you ianandterri/ it shows wat the fuck you know about quo /tyo say they sound better today /is so thick and sums it up wat you know about them fuck all /i think you will find the quo far better in the early 70s and the early 80s and sold more lps and sold more shows /wat you have said is so thick /and to call urself a quo fan to say the new quo are better /wise up go and fellow some other band like pink /lol quo rock in the 70s with lancaster and jc/i know saw them

  • live at the apollo i used to turn 1 speaker just to listen to parfitts driveing rythem gutair

  • This gold!! Thanks paperplane27. Cant thank you enought.

  • I dont want to knock Rhino, but you realise after looking at this film how much of a void there is in quo with out Alan Lancaster

  • couldnt agree more...and John of course! Only one proper quo!

  • I never saw the Frantic 4, however when I saw JC in Aldershot last year, it was clear to me anyway, that it's not the bass playing that's the void, but the drums.

JC is in my opinion, up there with Bonham in terms of power, which is what half the Quo sound to me is anyway.

  • Hey pump35.

I totally agree. Mr Lancaster is lost for SQ. I´m really sorry as your are. I´m also missing Mr Coghlan on the drums. Year 70-76 was the best lineup. Thou i think they should kept Mr Lynes all years. I havent seen the band live ever. Had the chance once -75 but i spent all my money on a girl that time, but we where listening to SQ. Does that make me less of a SQ lover & fan? Dont think so..

  • bad quality, but thats the atmosphere

  • My dad saw Quo live in 1973 in "Ruisrock" festival in Turku, Finland. And he still keep saying that Quo is the greatest live band ever!!

  • your father is so right :)

  • Saw them 1979 in Cologne Germany and YOUR FATHER IS RIGHT!!!

  • Magical foursome. Nothing comes even close to these 4 guys.

  • kiss?

  • cant compare these two bands. each have a style of their own. i like kiss also. but being a huge quo fan they dont come near :)

  • Exactly, they are still great live but at this time they were unbeatable, even better than Led Zeppelin

  • great track from the best album ever recorded.

FUCK ALL THAT DO NOT AGREE

  • those first few chords all ways remind me of "money for nothing", seein quo on Tuesday, cant wait!!

  • mate, you stuck in the past, quo are awesome as a band, if it werent for rossi disbanding quo, then bringing it back, then we would not have quo now, your a mellon mate, a proper twat, quo are still selling out arenas, aqnd rocking to this day, go take ur past and shove it up ur ass mate, people like you, and the ones who are not proper quo fans, people who have stuck by them through thick and thin, are real quo fans, rock on to the mighty quo, and all members past and present, hugs and kisses

  • wait to i tell u something mate /i no the quo better than u ever will and i bet i have saw them more than you try 2ootimes in the 70s and the 80s /and dont come this shit to me about proper fans .many times have u went to see them /i bet just in uk /well i have been all over the world and saw them beat that/and i have met them 2times. oh an just for u /the quo sold more lps in the early 70s and the early 80s and sold out far more than they ever do now /so i think u will find old qou were best

  • I have to agree with Rebel19821. You are stuck in the past and need to live in the present. Yes Quo sold more lps in the 70s and early 80s, but they are still selling records, selling out arenas etc now. I couldn't care less how many times you've seen them, it doesn't mean you know them better than anyone. Being a Quo fan isn't about how many times you have seen them, it's about supporting them. the 70s Quo were Ace, but there is nothing wrong with the current Quo

  • wtf's your problem? it dosent matter if they arent as gd now, people still go to there gigs and enjoy them selfs. and i dont give a fuck if you where in quo, who gives you the right to slag them off people off like that? you dont know all the young quo fans or rhino, so shut your mouth!

  • Jesus! Have you ever heard of full stop?

  • how the fuck do i no if jesus as heard of a full stop. but me loverat i sometimes do and.i sometimes dont ok .but u would need to ask the big man himself if he as heard of the fullstop ok

  • Ok loverat50. I think the big man is the master of punctuation but i´ll ask him the next time i see him anyway lol.

  • now uc that is wat happens u get wee young quo fans that think they no it all and they dont like my mesg so u put the thumbs down on me well for a start i and a lot of quo fans in my age and older would no wat we are talking about and for start who the fuck is rinho dose he look like quo play like quo em i think not mayb like big country yes ?and if i hate quo now well then thats me and a hell of a lot hate them now as well when rossie started to play god and say who i wrok with :likes of jc and

  • lancaster who were the fucking main men in the quo who started it of like rossie?so george dont you come this high and bull shit to me about quo i have saw them more times than u have had sex ?quo r shit now and allways will b with that wanker rinho in the band ?if lancaster and jc were back then likes of myself and 1000s of others would love them again but rossie thnks hes the man ?tell me this georgee boy have you read the book of wat happen in the quo well when you have then talk to me

  • Back in the set list on the current tour, and sounding as good as ever!

  • Now THIS is Quo - real Quo, heads down no nonsense rock.

  • HELL YES!!!!!!

  • great vid? is there any other footage from this gig? i think Alan lancaster is way better than that muppet edwards!

  • so sad this band blew its last breath when the drummer left in 1981.

the 70's where their years anyway, THIS is how I remember "my" QUO.

Nice footage, thanks for sharing :)

  • Spot on.

  • love this song a real headbanging song best played extremely loud

  • QUO live. The best album EVER

  • This video seriously get's as close to the core as possible, now I know again why my first record I ever bought (Apollo Live) is still among my favorites, what a drive!!!

  • there is no better way this is the real quo as it should be raw and very gritty if yo you know wot i mean

  • Can't remember this. I was on their lighting crew for the Rocking all over the world tour which started October '77, so if this was '77 it must've been early '77. Great to see this, brings it all back, thanks!

  • what a brill vid, i seem to remember now that some of the songs were on telly from the stafford gig, john peel dj'd that night too!!

  • lancaster rocks on this!the one and only

  • An Alan classsic

  • Francis Rossi

    Rick Parfitt

    Alan Lancaster

    John Coghlan

    The classic Quo Line-up

    the best band ever!!!

    QUO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ich stimme dir zu!

  • if only

    this is quo (full stop)!

They could of been better if not much better.

if they didn.t split at the time they did

  • now that was status quo only 1 alan lancaster and john the drummer quo will never sound as good as that ever again get rinho out to fuck

  • I agree with stevemilligan - Rinho looks like a bad drunk man... Lancaster is the only quo-bass player

  • "Hello!" is their best album, "Piledriver" at second place!

  • original line up=shit hot! every one a classic!rock on

  • Pretty sure this is one of three tracks from the "Pop Awards" show from Stafford Bingley Hall from early 1977, I need to check the ticket stubs for the exact date. This was the first of 130+ Quo gigs for me including the the last 11 dates of "The End of the road Tour" (1984), 7 at Hammersmith - 2 at Southampton - Crystal Palace and Milton Keynes.

  • Good thing for this song, or Turbonegro would've probably never existed. Class.

  • that place is too big to be the Apollo, looks like European velodrome type place

  • This sounds like one of the two gigs (could be wrong) that they played at the Glasgow Apollo in '77; the other being the Quo Live (was that '77? Gettin' old...) recorded double LP - at the top of their game at that time...but it was to be all downhill after that. They followed up with their disappointing Rockin' All Over the World studio album next.

But please...some more footage of these gigs in Glasgow, if you have it!

  • I think the Live LP was in 1976

  • Actually it was in 1975

  • Not perfect but looking pretty good for a 30 year old clip. Song more ferocious live than on record. Still surprised their later music isn't well known in the states.

  • Sweet. That song rules. Thanks for posting this.

  • quite simply WoW!!!

  • Must see more of this gig!!!!

  • Superb!@

  • Good footage m8, any more songs from this gig ???

  • Kick Ass

  • THE REAL DEAL IT DONT GET MUCH BETTER

  • Holy bat shit !! were the hell did you get this from ?rare ain't the word !

  • Rock on Quo.

  • This video is as rare as rockin horse shit were did you get it.Brilliant love it,plus its one of my favourite quo songs!
