The judge could have swore every in the room under oath and got to the truth. Nine times out of ten that judge saw them . Those deputies are her officers that work with her all the time. I have to say, as a Criminal Justice graduate, it is an enormous sigh of relief that there was at least some justice done in this situation. It is CLEAR that the Second Deputy mad a Xerox Copy of that Document and all Copy Machines Keep Records of the Images they Scan. That Deputy along with the First one should both be charged for their crime.

Soddard took a letter from the defendant to the defense attorney. Yes, he was found guilty of civil contempt of court, ordered to apologize or go to jail. Stoddard refused to apologize and was held somewhere in a special arrangement for 10 days, before the case was appealed to a federal level. He was released pending review. That appeal was heard Feb 9, and we're awaiting a response from the federal judge that heard this.
No, I don't. I think it's taking longer than it should, but with the national publicity and the local tendency to sue (and investigate) judges that don't agree with the sheriff's office, I assume the fed judges are being very careful.

So the fact that he is already serving a 20 year sentence for a aggravated felony and then got in more trouble while he is in jail has nothing to do with the fact that he deserves to be there. Sounds like the judge is trying to sweep this one under the rug. What a notion to think that a cop has any right to look through a defense attorneys legal files. And I'm sure the judge saw the whole thing go down. If it were my courtroom I would called him out in the act and demanded answers. I would have, at the least, dismissed those officers from court duty.

@redrider187x The judge seems oblivious-failing to notice a court officer intently reading documents on the defense council's table-but I rather think that she was dumbfounded by an accusation that she never thought she'd hear. I don't think judges or any other officers of the court would ever expect an officer to commit a felony on tape in open court. She's also required by duty and law to assume that the officer is innocent, I'll bet both the officers went to jail once she saw the tape

There's another video of a news cast about this particular matter. Apparently the deputy did end up spending 10 nights in jail. I have to say, as a Criminal Justice graduate, it is an enormous sigh of relief that there was at least some justice done in this situation. I came into this field because I trusted it in doing the right thing the majority of the time, although no system is perfect. To see these things happen without any retribution makes me sick to my stomach and shameful of this field

It is CLEAR that the Second Deputy mad a Xerox Copy of that Document and all Copy Machines Keep Records of the Images they Scan. That Deputy along with the First one should both be charged for their crime.
That is why the Returning Deputy brought the Document back. He had already secured a Copy of it and left it outside the Courtroom. I know how Cortrooms are setup and what access they have. I can think of 3 Charges that Both these Deputies should face.

Soddard took a letter from the defendant to the defense attorney. Yes, he was found guilty of civil contempt of court, ordered to apologize or go to jail. Stoddard refused to apologize and was held somewhere in a special arrangement for 10 days, before the case was appealed to a federal level. He was released pending review. That appeal was heard Feb 9, and we're awaiting a response from the federal judge that heard this.

No, I don't. I think it's taking longer than it should, but with the national publicity and the local tendency to sue (and investigate) judges that don't agree with the sheriff's office, I assume the fed judges are being very careful.

If that was the case, then the judge should have found the sheriff in contempt also. As far as corporate criminals, I can surely understand your frustration.

this disgusts me, they always use the security breach routine to explain thier actions when stealing someones rights,i dont know or care what this gangbanger did but not one of us should have to worry about bailiffs stealing our freedoms,if this was n.c. he would be fired hopefully,and the defendant would walk,my question to the officer if your watching is what were u thinking? and then try to cover your ass by saying he was a security breech? he was shackled what was he gonna do paper cut u?

This is preposterous! There is no doubt of what happened here. The State clearly violated the attorney client relationship here. That deputy needs to be fired and sanctions against the Sheriff's department.

This is an unbelievable abuse. At the very least it is a misdemeanor unauthorized use of personal property. In a larger context, it is a state violation of attorney client privilege and the right to counsel. If this "scumbag" killed my mother, I would be FURIOUS at this officer for putting the case against the guy in such jeopardy! The rule of law must be respected the whole way around. When you overreach to bust the bad guy, you become no better than they are...just another rule-breaker.

You and the P.O.S. judge can feel that the Officer is wrong, thats your opinion. All i care about is the saftey of the institution and if he is doing his job to protect the lives of those inside the building then so be it. Whether people disagree is there opinion. I wont have another gangbang bitch stabbing another Officer inside the elevator because so skank lawyer wants to hide a d*cksuck letter from her scumbag client.
