@jounihat isn't it good that a game isn' remembered solely for having a girl? What about the awesome stages, awesome music and awesome weapons. Not to mention the Wilyzilla final boss
The problem is that Splash Woman's stage wasn't one of the awesome stages. I immediately compared it to Bubble Man from MM2 and it's just sad how average SW's stage, music and the boss herself are in comparison.
All in all I find the music in 9 to have a lot more going on even in some of the blander pieces there is still a good amount of background variation. 10 just seemed too bear. These are so full, so mesmerizing.
I thought it was a good idea to have there be a woman, but my friend said it was killing the old-scholl feel. I don't think that at all. What do you guys think?
Well, it was unexpected. It sorta feels like Capcom made her JUST to please the feminists, as the origional games had bulky male robot masters. Compare to the big, bulky masters; Splash Woman doesn't seem as threatening, perhaps because it would kill the 'girlish' appeal Capcom was going for. I wonder why Wily built a robot with female anatomy... I wonder if he had any secondary uses planned as well... If you understood that, maybe you understand why a female robotmaster could be considered off.
Well for starters, Splash Woman was made by Dr. Light, not Wily, which explains a lot. She may have been designed like she was to look less threatening to humans.
is this slower than the one in the actual game? seems like it, maybe not. this soundtrack is all the way through fucking incredible though, not one bad track
The world needs more classic gaming. Mega Man 9 should be just the beginning, and game companies need to dish out quality, stuff that appeals the gamers that grew up with this stuff. Not junk...
Agreed entirely. Fuck guitar hero, fuck Halo, bring on the real games. I've yet to see a truly memorable game for any of the recent systems that didn't look like it's just a copy of hundreds of other games aside from MGS4 and SF4.
@mirokyu Dido. I grew up on the N64 and got an Xbox 360. After playing Mega Man 9/10, I went out, bought a NES, fully refurbished it, and started getting games for the old toaster.
Since, as far as I can tell, they emulate the NES audio very closely (including dropping channels for sound effects during gameplay), it would technically mean the white noise channel (static) is used for the drum beat, and the triangle wave is, in fact, the bass line.
Not that it matters =D. I agree, though, that is is really great!
honestly, the first thing that popped into my head when i heard the announcement for mega man 9 and saw all the screenshots was "oh no", as in "this game looks awesome, i really hope they get the fucking music right". i was honestly very worried for awhile it wouldn't be up to par, but hearing shit like this makes me so damn happy they didn't fuck it up.
Personally, I think this is the least interesting of the eight robot master stages, but it's still worth a listen. She should've gotten Hornet Man's music though.
I love this song. It sounds very floaty and ethereal. Definitely a perfect song for the first (and most likely only) Woman robot master in the series.
We need more ladybots in this franchise.
Good thing there's Mega Man Unlimited. Comet WOMAN.

I think the first woman robot master should've deserved to be more memorable. It was ok, but not what MM9 is remembered for.

@jounihat She was. Granted, she wasn't the only thing that MM9 was remembered for, but...

Splash Woman is the first female Robot Master. She isn't the first female robot. Roll is.

Capcom making a female robot master was a great idea. Too much "man." Splash Woman is most awesome because of her Laser Trident. I use it a lot :).

Eh... if they were ever to make a woman character i was a bit disapointed it had to be the game everyone was waiting years for....

It is strange...but then again, Wily did seem to have a thing for being surrounded by men, so it's a change for everyone involved, I feel.
RobotwarsKing 2 years ago
Wily didn;'t build the MM9 bots; Light did. Splash Woman was his creation. Maybe he thought Roll needed a sister?:)
lalalei2001 2 years ago
@lalalei2001
Or megaman. Both, maybe. All the robots creaited by Dr. Light have something to do with the Megaman family.
For one, Roll is Megaman's sister. Still, it must be pretty tough having to destroy your own brothers and sisters for the world's sake. :c

on mine, when i play as mega man it plays the proto man whistle at the beginning every time of this stage... weird....

that's odd, you should only hear ProtoMans' whistle when you play as ProtoMan... that reminds me, I need to buy ProtoMan's mode.
