ce qui? I'm not familiar with you or your work. I do remember though seeing quite a few years ago what looked like an old home made video of the Four Vandals definitely looked prior to 2005. Maybe I'm mistaken? Maybe I'll give you another giggle? :P
@sassolungo - This is the only footage of The Four Vandals. I made the record with Steve Brookstein in 1999, and then we claimed it was thirty years old to prove a point that the Northern Soul scene is bigoted and biased.
This song is amazing. Had me fooled. When I saw the video, I thought it was a remake with singers who were doing their "classic" material. The story behind this is hilarious. This song sounds like a classic from the 60's,very soulful. great job. I was certainly amused.
That's that bloke who won the 1st X factor isn't it? crikey he's doing well that's good to see . He got slated a few years back . I'm really pleased for him . Top Top Tune!!
I love Northern soul, but its full of elitism. Why? Their popular soulful sound mean Amy Whitehouse & Duffy are now in the charts. Ive even heard Duffy played at venues (not accepted of course) cos its not old! Most soulies will groan if it comes on but sneakingly tap their feet. Or perhaps like me they just want to keep handbaggers out of our scene & keep it special. Look what happened to Wigan in its latter popularity. Me? I stayed in M's whilst downstairs played Joe 90. Yeh yeh Im a dinosaur!
I used to hear tis sdong on an online Northern Soul radio station. It never occured to me that it was anything other than an old record from the sixties. Absolutely cracking tune!
Deffo one of Ian's best productions along with Barbara Pennington 24 hours a day. Considering this was probably recorded digitally it has a real authentic feel and certainly got the props from northern DJ's when it "surfaced" lol.
Better than 99% of what I hear on the radio these days. Great tune, and great vocals. This is what I to hear more of. Why can't we get more of this great music on the radio. This totally sounded like something out of the Berry Gordy Motown days. I love it!!!!
I wish we could get more stuff like this on the radio too. Which is why I make these records and videos. Maybe someday, someone putting together a huge feature film will look at these videos and see what a goldmine just waiting to be discovered. Until then, I do my best single handed to keep good music alive. I sometimes think I'm fighting a losing battle.
Where can I buy your album at? By the way, my dad is a prominet vocal coach in the industry today, and he enjoyed your stuff as well. He told me the same thing I said, "Wow real music, with people who can actually sing...how refreshing to see". Did you write this tune by the way? I guarantee you if the stupid record companies would put this song on the radio, people would like it, and it would happen. I love the "old school" feel.
brilliant I bought this DVD and realised the X-Factor dude after reading through this, what a story and well done your the best STevie....... only Northern Soul could produce a story like this
We recorded her as Venicia Wilson. I tried to get her to do some more stuff, but she's developing her own career, and simply doesn't want to know any more.
Do these guys have an album or something. There so good, I can't stop watching the video. I would kill for something on a CD by these guys, is there anything?
Two of their tracks are on the "Solid Ground" album, on Goldsoul. Two others were on "Northern Soul2004" also on Goldsoul. The first is still available, the sec ond you should still find on Amazon or E-Bay

A master stroke Ian,im sure millions of people wish they had that idea.
The sound is so very "original 60s",spot on.
Imagin this cranked up on a Dansette, with the lever across to play on repeat.lol
