Yep, the Hawaiian culture prefers their 'official sources' to be casual...they don't really trust them otherwise. Instead of casual Fridays, though, in Hawaii you have "Aloha Friday" and everyone wears their Aloha shirts and leis! Great tradition, keeps even the stuffiest situations light!
I am impressed that Hawaiian newsreaders dont feel the need to wear ties and jackets. This is something that newsreaders in northern tropical regions of Australia could take note of,
