I love the editing style. Great stuff. I'm a pro freelance editor from finland, but still in high-school. Been looking to apply to a video editing college in the US. Do you know how much they look at your CV? I've done promos for TV channels etc, but my school grades aren't necessarily the best.
@r4ndomduud I'm actually not sure...I haven't done anything professional, but I've been actively involved in other stuff that's won contests and such. They don't watch your portfolio, but they do read over your "creative resume". If you're going to apply to film schools here, you should consider applying to USC, UCLA, American Film Institute, California State University Long Beach, Loyola Marymount, and Chapman. Oh don't forget NYU!
@buttfaceROFL Sounds interesting, thanks! As for the video, they said something about you having to highlight yourself, and maybe the video made them misunderstand on what you are really like. As in hearing music and seeing things that aren't there.
Anyway, thanks for the help, and I still watching this video from time to time to get inspiration :)
I used adobe premiere pro cs3 to edit it! Haha thank you. I take it you're applying to dodge? I searched these up around this time last year too haha =)
I think you got waitlisted because your video was too long. It was only supposed to be 2 minutes max and yours ran longer than that, so you didn't follow directions. That's a quality they don't want in a student, especially in such a time-conscious and deadline-oriented subject.
@Qber4life I don't know if they'd waitlist a student based on that alone :/ I've seen longer videos that were accepted. And I asked before I submitted it, they said if you went a little over it was okay :)
@inkstee Well....MAYBE! I honestly think it was my GPA, because I have pretty high SAT's and AP scores. Plus, I'm well rounded and stuff, I'm in sports, my water polo team was undefeated and won league for the 8th time in a row. My GPA was a 3.55 though so yeah...letters of rec were good, my personal statement might could have been better but was good overall. So yeah, I BLAME THE GPA!
@buttfaceROFL I'm in the same boat... GPA - 3.58, SAT - 1940. I play Ultimate Frisbee (5 consecutive state championships), I go to a charter school made up of <250 students (grades 6-12), and I've taken over 30 units worth of classes at my local community college (including english classes, american sign language classes, even a course in public speaking!) and yet I still got wait-listed.
I blame the GPA. Also, watching my video again... I really don't feel like it's that great.
@inkstee I thought your video was actually one of the stronger ones too, though it drags just a wee bit at parts but it picks back up. I did mine in one day so go figure...it's probably why I was waitlisted >:l! haha, Your SAT is close to mine! 2010 for me. I barely broke the 2,000. You wouldn't happen to have AIM or anything like that would you?
@buttfaceROFL I agree, while editing (which was a 1-week edit that involved very few hours of sleep) I built the video with the entire script as it was originally planned, then cut everything. The full version was like 2:38, I cut it down to 2:08, and then was refused to cut any of the other shots because each and every piece was relevant to the story in some way (even the parts that don't seem so). Like... relevant symbollically or what not. I needed sleep. AIM = inkstee.
@inkstee Yeah, my edit was....a one day edit, with no sleep whatsoever. I shot it on Saturday afternoon (HORRIBLE DECISION because of harsh light) and then I basically edited it right after the two hour shoot, and I finished around 10 PM the day of the deadline so YAY.
Your style is very different from mine but I can appreciate talent when I see it. I can't believe you shot this in one day! great work you can check out my video if you want
Wow! You have a great style! Great eye, great editing (you could make an awesome cinematographer). One of the best of the app videos I've seen thusfar! Way to put some effort into it!

WHAT THE EFF YOUR VIDEO WAS AWESOME HOW DID YOU GET WAIT LISTED I DON'T UNDERSTAND.
I got wait listed too, and I thought my video was a really strong contender. I'm infuriated. Would you like to join me?
