@tripleheshy Frey and Henley made Felder rich again. Henley & Frey were having productive solo careers, they didn`t need to reunite for the money. The reunion in `94 single handedly saved Felder,Schmit and Walsh from financial issues. Don`t you get it ? There is no Eagles without Frey and Henley.

The real problem with this band is they bought into the Reagan Revolution big time and that's why they can't write anymore! The Felder thing is personal and thereby miniscule by comparison.
Just because he didn't write as many songs and sing as Don and Glenn did, that does not make his work expendable, no matter who you hire to do it. Maybe Felder is rubbing it in a little too thick, but I think he kinda has a point, by believing Frey, and Azoff see all the ex members work "Meisner, Leadon, & Felder" as expendable. Each member contributed something special to the band, and all of it's worthy of recognition. More than Frey and Azoff give it anyway.
Well the fact remains. It it weren't for Felder they wouldn't have Hotel California, even if all he does these days is boast about how he had the original idea for the song. Felder was and still is to this day a great musician, and I think they were wrong to sack him just like that, and replace him with some studio yahoo that doesn't even get credit as a band member, yet you still does all the lead guitar work that Felder did.
Why does Glenn sing both the first and third verses? They should have let Tim Schmidt or Joe Walsh sing the third verse. If you watch the live version of them playing this song in 1972, Randy Meisner sings the third verse. Watch it, its in poor quality but he does. Does Glenn have some kinda fetish for singing "all" off Randy's former leads? lol
Man I feel damn sad about Eagles. How could they sacked their old pal Don Felder just like that? I mean he's the main guitarist and one of the best in the world. He's one of those stockholder, sure he's got a right to question his stocks.
founding partner??.....how was brought in for the 3rd album, not exactly there from the git-go........get your facts straight.....
He sued for being "coerced" to sign his rights away...lol, no mention of a gun or holding his family hostage. I wonder what he was payed to be " coerced" Shelly Long, Peter Criss, Ace frehley ,David Caruso and a host of others thought they were bigger than the show they were with......Where are they ? sitting on the sidelines, with Felder, where they belong.
If his case was not convincing then why did he win it?? David Caruso??? He's only on the most watched show in the world right now. I suggest you get your facts straight. The rest of them can sit on the sidelines for the rest of their lives because they have fuck you money. Trust me, they're getting the last laugh not you or me or anyone else.
Most watched??..try 28th currently, next to Spongebob of all things.......He signed his rights away and now he's bitching, that's ok though, he's not the first to wish it was all a nightmare. I saw them when they were here.....Felder who??.......don't need him
Just read Felders book, wish I hadn't! Lost a lot of respect for some of my favorite musicians and one of the greatest bands of all time in my opinion. Henley and Frey were (are still for all i know) ASSHOLES
Felder was great! I met him last year in Calgary when he was on his book tour. He was fired for wanting an equal share - Don Henley is the bad guy, not Felder.
That's beside the point. Felder got fucked out of what was/is rightly his. He won the court case convincingly and is today reaping a very healthy percentage from every single concert they've played since they started their "Farewell Tour". Frey and Henley are typical limousine liberal hypocrites who rail against corporate greed yet didn't hesitate to fuck someone they knew for years just so they could keep a little more for themselves. That is a stone cold fact. Way to go Felder!!!
Felder was in no way worth being paid equal, the worlds full of people that feel they are bigger than the group that made them famous.....Add Felders' name to lists that include David Caruso , Shelley Long, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley, all talented people that thought they deserved more.
How can you possibly say that when they (Frey, Henley, Felder, Meisner, Leadon) started out as equal 20% partners in Eagles Inc.???? The word "worth" has nothing to do with it, it's what he's rightfully OWED as a founding partner, nothing more nothing less. If anybody feels they are "bigger" than the group it 's Frey and Henley. Talk about egomaniacs....
Another FINE TUNE penned by J.D. Souther...much as I love J.D., his version from the 70's is not as fine as this one by the Eagles...did you know this was written as a protest song?! Great version!
I've always thought that Henley has truly matured as a singer, and continue to believe that, but I'm beginning to see how much Glen has added to his packaging. He's GREAT to listen to!!! Just like the 'old days!'
DavidLlewelynJones - "they're so old?" That just means that they have had more time to hone their skills and experiences to share with us mere mortals! Besides, if they don't do drugs, drink in excess or smoke tobacco, they should be around another 30 years. Can you picture that one!!!! I'm 60 and I'll fold up my rocker to see em' any day... But you're correct in saying their new album ROCKS! BUT, now they've had enough rest so 'BOYS - lets hear another one come out soon... please...
Welcome to the wonderful world of the EAGLES! You won't stop lovin their stuff, it only gets better, especially with you tube being here to show all the old stuff! Thanks You Tube!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the only song I like on there LROOE album. Its good with Joe Walsh playing a great Duitar break. This Sounds like the Original Eagles sound. I hate the Trumpet, Saxes and helmet crap off their live tours these days. They Need Felder back!
Steuart Smith is a legendary guitarist in his own right, and has added his own incredible sound to the mix without losing the Eagles feel. Don't forget that Walsh isn't an original band member either.
Give Smith a chance. I have seen him play live with Rodney Crowell and with Rosanne Cash on several occasions, and his playing gives me goosebumps.
I saw them something like 5 years ago for the first time in my life. They were the band that I most had wanted to see. I actually cried it was just so good.
Saw them live last night, for the first time in my life. I was like on of the youngest persons there. :)
Finally I got to see Henley, Walsh, Smith and Fray! Not to forget the other musicians there were.
Although it was awesome, I think they can better stop after this tour. Henley's voice is just not as good as it used to be. Heartache Tonight was just terrible..
don't forget they are 62 years old we were there also last night, and when you here the songs on cd or live there is almost no difference in sound great
Yes, some songs are just amazing. But, yesterday evening, songs such as Hotel California and Heartache Tonight, they don't sound as good as the used to sound.
According to Billboard Magazine, it reached no. 23 on the country chart, and the album reached no. 1 on the country album chart for 10 weeks. The Eagles also perfomed at Country Music Association Awards in 2007 & 2008. I think the eagles amazing. Only band in history last all these years. Only inproved with age. Sell out. Seen the 3 times already totally outstanding band . I love them,. Rock on!!!!!!!
this was an amazing song to start off their new album. Great vid as well. cant believe its taken me this long to find it since ive had the album since it first came out. oh well :P
To StoogeWatcher: it was not a hit song; it reached only no. 23 on the country chart. The eagles had a few country hits in the past. Hotel California reached no. 10 on the country album chart. Study because you need education.

The guy with the long hair is Timothy B. Schmit and the guy that says "I've been doin time" is the one and only Don Henley.

To StoogeWatcher: it was not a hit song; it reached only no. 23 on the country chart. The eagles had a few country hits in the past. Hotel California reached no. 10 on the country album chart. Study because you need education.

I'm sure that made sense to someone. But if God slaps Madonna for her execrable cover version of American Pie I may even start believing in him.

ha ha ha.good stuff.thanx to J.D. souther."TAKE IT EASY" part 2.if you like this song or country-rock then buy the POCO CD "THE FORGOTTEN TRAIL" 1969-1974.without POCO there would be no EAGLES.trust me people.RANDY MEISNER and TIMOTHY SCHMIT were both ex-POCO.

Great song! Of course they still have talent. What blows me away is that their voices sound so great after all these years.

Eagles and Bon Jovi prove one thing: If your career needs a boost, go country.
StoogeWatcher 3 years ago 2
But the Eagles were already part-country... Still so true though
Eggehhs 3 years ago 3
After almost 40 years in the business they prove that they still got the talent.
