shut the fark up who ever hates these series, its amazing, its not sick. its about the ups and downs of a beautiful life of infants, GREAT JOB JILL!!!
I'm sorry but I don't find this inspiring nor impressive. Huge studio light, Hasselblad and Photoshop. ...oh yes, forgot to mention shiny kids in agony. Wow. All I see is tyrannical pictures paint-brushed to death.
oh the song is so pure and memorizing that makes me to forget the fact that i have come to c ur works has just closed my eyes and started listing to it , but again i have read the comment what other have written , i don't agree with them well art is art no matter wat it is , it lies in the eyes of the person who is looking at the pics
Why do these kids shirts need to be off anyway can't you get your fine technique's point across with clothes on. And why focus on the kids misery. Sorry not art to me.
In an overprotected, underexposed society, of course people will find something bad in something as simple as this, and you all annoy the shit out of me.
Attachment is suffering. Even as a child we can see that being attached to worldly things such as treat that are there 1 moment and gone the next results in suffering. Even this can teach us all that it starts when we are young and increases when we are older as we have more expectations and exaggerate our desire to satisfy our cravings for external things that evidently dont lead to lasting happiness. Nothing external lasts. Teach children about inner peace the lasting source of happiness
@granyhump - No doubt it is Adobe Photoshop. Probably a version like CS4, or CS5. She can do these effects with just the program, or she may be using a Photoshop with a "plug-in" that creates short cuts. Either way, she is fine-tuning the effect, and not just pushing a button or two. But to suggest she does it all is a bit presumptuous. She may have a digital artist do it for her.
All of you who feel so going bazerk over these pictures are just proving what a great artist she is. She's sparking all of this rage and emotion from you all. These should be used in anti-child abuse commercials/advertisements.
@Felix0890 - Tell you what. You lay on your back with your eyes closed. I tell you I'm going to pour warm chocolate all over your body. Instead I have a person take a crap on you. Would you go berzerk? I could take your photo and I'd be an artist by your definition.
@f8beenthere Of course you would. So do you think I'd be traumatized for the rest of my life because some person pooped on me? If you think so, go take a psych class. :)
and will never have any recollection of it. There is absolutely NOTHING traumatic about the situation they faced. Even if they did get confused their parents will explain things later and Im sure they got the lollipop back.
@artkid666 You are a terrible child psychologist if you think "nothing" traumatic happens as a result of being placed in a vulnerable situation and having stress evoked. It creates a lasting impression, and I say this out of experience. This is not a run-of-the-mill daily thing for these children to be brought into a photographers studio, sat in front of bright lights and have their shirts taken off.
Let me just say that any idiot who is arguing that these kids are suffering or this is child abuse is stupid. As a Child Psychologist I can tell you that there are a million other things that can screw a child up than giving them a lollipop and taking is away. Firstly, a Human mind comes equipped with methods of dealing with confusion and trauma. Especially in children who are just learning about the world. these kids will most probably forget all about this by the end of the day
THAT'S WHAT TAKING NICE THINGS FROM A CHILD IS FOR.
If a little kid isn't doing anything wrong and you take something they enjoy from them it's CRUELTY.
And THAT is something NO parent should EVER EVER allow their child to experience if they can help it!!
I know it's a part of life that everyone goes through outside the home but a loving parent LOVES their child and will only do something to make their little one cry when necessary to teach that actions have consequences.
Wow I see this has stirred some emotions for many, but I would like to point out the photographer captured something truly amazing. Every single expression in these shots could tell a story. These are incredible work. And the glossy texture he/she used gives it an interesting look. Nice approach there. And as far as child abuse??? PLEASE! There's more than one way in getting a reaction. Look at movies, there are many scenes with children crying or in an abusive scene...
These pictures were not taken without the parents' approval, and they were breifed on what was going to happen.. The pictures were to be used in a campaign were children are upset about the state the world will be in when they inherit it.. These are staged images and not documenting real suffering.. Hello Jason, so you have a three year old? Have you never denied your child something and in doing so made her cry? Would that have defined you as a child abuser?
Man, you know Nothing at all about children. They dont know "WHY" anything happens. You act like a child can understand the reason behind something. You think a kid knows why he can't have a toy? A piece of candy? You really think a kid knows what money is at this age? You ever as a 4 year old how much a house cost? They think everything is free, they dont know what work is. All they know is either they can have something or they cant. They cant comprehend why or why not. If you give a kid a
toy, and then take it away from them 30 seconds later, they are not going to know why you did that. They just know they cant have that toy. If you give a kid a toy and take it away from them an HOUR LATER, it's the SAME THING! They dont know WHY you are taking the toy from them. Why are you making them suffer like that? Why are you so mean? Why cant they eat Ice Creme and Cake for dinner? They DONT KNOW or understand. They just know they Cant cuz Mom/Dad said NO. Period.
I see your point. But what you're not getting is when you punish a child, they understand that. If they hit a sibling and get something taken from them, they can comprehend that. However, when they are playing and all of a sudden its time to put the toys away, they dont understand why. When you tell them they cant have a toy in the store. They dont know why. They feel the same way as if you gave them a piece of candy and took it away. They simply dont know why you would do that.

So your 3 year old has never cried? Damn I guess if you took a photo of her in tears you'd be a child abuser too? It was a bloody lollipop they had taken away. Crying is natural and healthy.
I also hope you dont have any kids. Kids need to learn they dont get everything they want. PERIOD. No Justification? What's the justification of their father having to go to work? When a parent leaves the house and the kid crys, in their mind, theres no justification for that. So what has the child done to deserve that? You cant "Reason" with a child. They dont understand things. All they know is either they will get what they want or they wont. Spoiled kids become Delinquents.
Wow, you must be a TERRIBLE parent then. I truly feel sorry for the type of kids you are raising. I dont have a child, but I have a 2 year old niece and she loves to play with my keys for some reason. So I give them to her, then when it's time to go, I take them back from her. And guess what? She doesn't cry. Because she doesnt have parents like YOU Raising her to be a spoiled lil brat. I've also been caught giving her candy which her mom makes me take back from her and she Still doesn't cry.
So, to make a political point, it´s alright to strip children naked, make them cry and photograph them!?
It´s ok to put them in emotional distress, and shoot pictures of them, while they´re naked and volnurable!?!? In this early and defining age there in!?
@TheSearchForTheLight Goodness gracious aren't we judgmental!! I bet you haven't even bothered to find out how the shoots were done! Methinks that because you don't like the message you demonize how it was produced.
Kids cry.... about anything. They get over it and so should you.
@oceandrew The fact is that it wasn't their choice to be a part of this. Not to mention that her photographs only look half decent because she refines them so much in photoshop.

It's actually ILLEGAL for a child to be induced to tears in a movie!!
Those kids are ACTING.
THIS is exploitation of little tiny children.
SirFoggy2Doped 2 years ago
If it was actually illegal for many movies you think they'd still be on screen?
Many areas around the world support child labor & trafficking and not giving a lollipop to a spoiled kid is abuse?

So those kids in Jill Greenberg's studio were being good and were offered and received something nice:)
And to borrow your argument...
They couldn't understand what the so called"artist"really wanted from them or why.
Nothing fills a little childs heart with joy more then being given a treat...
Boy did that evil cunt show them wrong.
She tore them down good,Got all she wanted from them.
Yay for art ^_^
SirFoggy2Doped 2 years ago
Yes I do understand all of that!
But you are BABBLING pointlessly.
All you say has NOTHING to do with what this sick bitch did.
The ONLY time one should take something from a child is when they've done something bad.
For example-If I give my kid a cookie and she turns around and smacks her sibling for no apparent reason then I'll take the cookie back.
She'll understand why because I'LL TELL HER WHY SHE GOT HER COOKIE TAKEN AWAY.
SHE WILL LEARN A LESSON BECAUSE
