Screw those Mexicans. I'm hispanic not of Mexican descent and I think it's outrageous they fly the Mexican flag in the USA while demanding American citizenship.
The LAPD officers and the department were not at fault here. The front line officers were just obeying orders their commanders gave to them, they were conflicting orders too. The rioters merged with the group of peaceful protestors and without being able to distinguish the two groups the police had to clear out the whole park.
the LAPD riot squad was partially at fault for using somewhat excessive force. No one died or suffered life time injureis. I didn't agree with them using rubber bullets or bean bag shotguns. I do agree with the gas attacks. The officers were clubbing people because they were angry about being thrown bottles and rocks at. Some of the officers actually got hurt from the attacks.
please compared to the riot control techniques of the 1960s-1970s the beatings that officers do give out in the may day protest are no where near as bad as they use to be. They should've been thankful they don't go in swinging clubs and breaking skulls anymore. Like I said no one suffered long term injuries and there was no death. I would never be on the receiving end of one of these events because I'm not dumb enough to go.
because going to protests and rallies are a waste of time and effort. Write or call the ones in charge. Vote on initiatives or propositions to effect change.
It would be helpful to read up on human rights history. It takes all kinds of effort - speaking out to friends, protesting in the streets, writing letters. Personally I believe that if voting truly worked they would have taken that right away long ago. But I support voters, too. Whatever works for change or awareness.
1) So you sayin' we should be thankful police brutality cos it isn't as brutal as it was 30 years ago. Well as for me and my house we won't be thankful until there is no police brutality.
2) Sounds to me like you wouldn't be on the receiving end, as you put it, cos you not BRAVE enough to go. Sometimes standing up against evil means putting yourself in danger. I praise God for the millions of people both in America and other nations who have had the guts to take a beating in the name of freedom
some are saying that this actually got ugly before the police came. I dont see it in this video but if that is true than the police could do what they did AND IM NOT SAYING IT WAS RIGHT WHAT THEY DID. → BUT← if this was a completely peaceful protest, than according to the constitution Amendment 1 "freedom of speech, or of the the press, OR THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE PEACEFULLY TO ASSEMBLE. If that is the case, they just unconstitutionaly broke up a peacefull protest. IF it was peacefull.
This is why California is bankrupt! Paying assholes overtime to push, beat, and gas peaceful tax paying citizens. And now they won't even give us our money back after using it to destroy the entire state. Where was Villaraigosa when this was going down? Oh yeah, donking his mistress while Arnold sat by wanking and smoking his cigars.
There's sadly a fine line in appearance between anarchy and a righteous cause gone overboard by a few rabble-rousers tainting the whole cause. God help us protect each other & live wisely in peace.
The remark made by Tank611(which seems designed simply to agitate others here) that "The police acted appropriately." bespeaks the warped mindset of the user. L.A. Chief Bratton was quoted as saying the melee was "a command and control breakdown," and went on to form an Incident Management & Training Bureau, headed by the Deputy Chief. Hardly an action he would have taken, if he shared those sentiments.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing-Edmund Burke
As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this weekend, let us remember that "99 & 1/2" won't do. MLK and those before him fought hard for us to have the rights we have today. Make him proud; use your free voice and be heard with your VOTE this year so we don't have to live in a fascist police state like the one seen in this video. "Cuz, 99 & 1/2, it just won't do."
very well illustrated. many of us protesting the u.s. government's genocidal attack against iraq as well as other injustices occuring within u.s. society have seen that the police serve as the government's thugs, and are in place to intimidate the people and interfere with our constitutional rights rather than to protect our safety or our rights.
police violence towards U.S. and citizens alike internationally needs to be addressed by our governments. for everyone out there tired of getting brutalized or framed by the police go to itsahookupsite[dot]com and click on the "e-Store" button. U.S. citizens who are felons can not make purchases of our products. International order send email to lotdlinfo@comcast[dot]net or call +44-7092-234023 U.K.
A) I love the song, it's a realyl good message. B) I Love her voice. C) I was really upset by a lot of the video images: are we really that cruel as a society? Upsetting indeed.

I am sick and tired of the "just doing their job" meme,
Being a professional means just that, you adjust to a situation
and use force as necessary, beating women and children
for upholding a basic American right ,is what is going to
see an end to freedom and democracy, peace.

Have you ever experienced this "somewhat excessive force"? You would have quite a different attitude about it being on the receiving end, I think.

....then I guess we'll have to rely on braver souls to effect change in human rights.
Are you aware that the government actually hires instigators to disrupt peaceful protests in order to open the door to arrests?
