Ange was such good character, shame she didn't stay in Walford much longer, but then again Anita Dobson probably got out at the right time, to avoid being like some of these actors/actresses, who could never break away and just look what it did to some of them.
very low key deeparture for a major character and compared to todays departures . It was a bit too premature also i think Ange shud av stuck around for a couple more years at least there was plenty more to discover in the character but at the same time she left in triumph . She was Queen of the vic more than Peggy , Kat or any landlady GO Ange !
@crevrath all true. people seem to think only peggy had the vic. look at angie and sharon. best ever. and even thou angie was in the show for 4 years. she is much bigger than the rest of the cast. still is now. hate peggy and kat. if eastenders was on in 1975, we would have seen angie behind the bar for almost 15years. peggy has been on and off for 16 years. but do wish angie was in it today. wonder what she make of everything hmm lol
I love that Angie's departure was so low-key, without hype. She was such an organically engaging character, she didn't need the show itself to write her some stupidly contrived explosive departure. She WAS the explosion herself.
@Messylin i`m no fan of `enders but i recently saw anita dobson on the london stage playing the part of joan crawford in `bette and joan` and she can certainly act
ange was a classy landlady unlike peggy den and ange behind the bar were electric the mitchells as good as they were dont match up to them.

@Pulpedtoafiction31 Den and Ange, what double act they were in Albert Square for 3 and half years, don't make characters in soap like these anymore.

They should have sent Angie off to the Midlands to run the Crossroads Motel! I'm sure Anita Dobson would have been up to the challenge!!!

Quite Apt that they were playing "Every time you go away".
