it REALLY annoys me that the writers for the show wrote this particular line: "It's the schools responsibilty to encourage pupils CHOICES" - I'd like to point out that being gay IS NOT a choice.
@dilydan Being gay is not a choice, but choosing to be open about your sexuality to others is. He might not have chosen to be gay, but he chose to embrace it rather than to fight it, he chose to wear it on his wrist rather than hide it behind closed doors. He chose to go with it, and that is the choice the school is encouraging
what i dont like here is at 6:55 where karen fisher says "schools responsibilty to encourage puplis CHOICES" - IT ISNT A CHOICE - got that off my chest there
I was proud of Nate's dad until he added that last part about it being a phase. I HATE those words more than anything. I mean, seriously, who actually goes through a phase of being gay?
Some people get a little bi-curious when growing up so people misinterpret it. I'm gay but my Nan told me it was a phase I was going through (pretty long phase), some people just don't understand things that well sometimes.
@redsmas I guess that makes sense, but even if, you should never say that to anyone (not saying you, in particular, just meaning those who actually say it). It's kinda rude, if you ask me.
@redsmas But the kinsey scale is one just study like the other billion rubbish theories, theres no evidence that the scale even applies to anybody let alone the majority of the population. For one thing, I know many boys and girls myself included, that have only ever had the opposite sex on my mind. Like I'm not watching this gay storyline because I'm bi-curious, but rather because its a good television.
@prettyb0y1992 While it's true some gay people come out as bi first, bisexuality IS real. Some people really are bisexual. Sexuality is complex, a continum, not just gay and straight.
@SammeSumiko yeah I thought the same thing at first, the choice of words she used wasn't really the best, she didn't mean "him choosing to be gay" she meant he made the choice to be open about it and they accept that choice.
@LordAssassins1 Hi, 'Waterloo Road' is a superb BBC1 program entering it's 8th year. They typically have several story lines woven together. The story of Josh confronting his sexuality (along w/Tom, his father & head of English Dept. at school) & Nate & Connor, was developed & shown in the series's 6th season. I edited Josh's coming out story from 'Waterloo Road' & did so, so the story line would work as a 'stand alone' story, carefully editing so it flowed as a single story/film. Vin

@redsmas There's no such thing as bisexuality. It's basically a cover up. The safer thing to say if you are gay.
prettyb0y1992 3 months ago
@prettyb0y1992 Actually there is no such things as gay or straight everyone is actually bisexual. Ever heard of the Kinsey scale?

@redsmas anyhow apprently these days its deemed very acceptable to be bisexual. Being gay is still a taboo.
