@bigmapidea Lol nah i didn't say that,i just said he plays to many notes for your ears, but for others like myself i can appreciate how he uses space.it just depends on what you like.
alguien me puede decir por favor ¿cual es la afinación común que se utiliza en el jazz? ,hace poco me e estado adentrando en este estilo que me encanta, muchas gracias saludos!
wow i have just found out jazz video's are the only video's where they don't post comments about JB "the thing". usually they post more comments about that dicklikker than about the actual artist playing.
@Supernikomaru Ah sorry but she is the instigator of plastic music! It's all been done before by Cher and Madonna! I would Poker face! Plz lets not mention her mortal name on God's page! Sacrilege! lol
@mikashred It's about as sophisticated as you can get. Maybe you are refering to the chord structure he's improvising over, because George's playing is full of elegance, grace, and sophistication.
@KABRIS1 i meant by this that his playing stay very melodic and doesn't get complex, like it often happens in Jazz. It's open to every one, even for those who don't play an instrument. That's the better way to do music, in my opinion. So yes, i completly agree with you ;)
If you don't know what jazz is and r void of the emotions that receive it, why dont you keep ur mouth shut and let the real beings savour the taste without no unnecessary and immature interruption from a non-existing, stimulus less e.t
@JOLA326 beautifully put, i have a musically ignorant friend, who thinks george benson sounds like elevator music, he just doesnt get it , but at least he doesn't leave mindless comments on here, this is another lovely arrangement by the master
A guitar virtuoso being backed being backed by no less a piano legend than Joe Sample in the performance of a song written by yet another legend can only deliver sheer and sublime listening pleasure.
Jazz Guitar of the highest Calibre. This is normally a song but George Benson made it into an instrumental! Such talent that he can play anything he can sing, so if he lost his voice at a Concert he could fill in with his superb guitar playing and not let anybody down!
This song reminds me that many people have had success and lost it all.
The actual theme of "lately" implies that it is where we are NOW rather than in the past that determines our success in life. Its not what you had or what you are going to have, it is basically a song which expresses the form of where we are "lately". Look at the hispanic brother in the back on the Strat, working his ass off. You gotta be a bad mother hubbard to hold a guitar on the stage with George Benson.
WTF...come on man...How can any man compete with Joe Sample and George Benson....add in a fat Troy Polamalu and a couple of blacks and that's all you need to make the old white bitches go crazy
Understanding the true meaning of listening to music. It aint that hard just open your heart, and fill up that open space, and make that melody your own.No words needed, just your interpretation.Thats what George does..Thank you George !

...I wonder what would've happened if the jazz/blues sensation was replaced instead of the black thug-life....maybe then MTV would still be playing real music instead of 'slap that hoe or I kill you' songs...
@porampo George would practice after a gig that stopped at say 2 Am ,go to the hotel and to practice tiill 6 am or more in he morning. Lonnie Smith told me this when I toured with Lou Donaldson in Spain for 17 days.. Plus playin 6 or 7 sets was normal in many clubs during his time. Pat Martino confirimed this..Miles Davis was one who said he would not play more then 2 sets, which is now common in may European clubs. two longer sets.
I had the good fortune of meeting George backstage about 11 years ago after his amazing 1999 concert at the Paramount in Denver. I have been listening to George since 1979 - back when I was a kid learning to play jazz guitar. Without a doubt, he is one of the most humble, kind and genuine stars I have ever met. George is a true legend and his unique guitar mastery and golden voice will forever inspire this world. Thank you George Benson for inspiring my music career.
Sin quitarle mérito a Benson, que hace muchos años ya se escoró más por el dinero que por la guitarra....francamente me gusta mas el pianista, grande Joe Sample!
@yazzman13 you know, i've come to the conclusion that jazz actually IS elevator music! not because it belongs in a lift but because it elevates and stimulates the mind of those who listen intellectually
