  • Tasty stuff.

  • FANTASTIC!!! BEM VINDO AO BRASIL!!!

  • Joe is nothing.. George Benson is well known artist globe wise..

  • Say whatever you like, he's a guitar virtuoso in his own genre. He played with feel i.e. SOUL!! which can touch anyone who listen to him without any fancy gadgets to aid him in expressing the notes. My respect for George!

  • @supernikomaru.well said.im a fan of same as well as bird' coltrane' miles' the london philharmonic.frank sinatra'uncle tom cobbly an all other types of music played well.george an joe are fantastic here...

  • THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY SITE........AWESOME...!!!!!

  • So good..

  • i like george, but sometimes he might play too many notes.

  • @bigmapidea I hear ya,but George is only playing how many notes that are required, its just too many for your ears.

  • @funkordie100 ah yes, another one of those... "you don't know anything about music" comments. george can do no wrong, right? space is music too.

  • @bigmapidea Lol nah i didn't say that,i just said he plays to many notes for your ears, but for others like myself i can appreciate how he uses space.it just depends on what you like.

  • @bigmapidea your totally right space is music when it comes to playing. :D it is a fact for me.

  • @bigmapidea Yeah, but he does it so tastefully.

  • alguien me puede decir por favor ¿cual es la afinación común que se utiliza en el jazz? ,hace poco me e estado adentrando en este estilo que me encanta, muchas gracias saludos!

  • wow i have just found out jazz video's are the only video's where they don't post comments about JB "the thing". usually they post more comments about that dicklikker than about the actual artist playing.

  • @laiholapso Oh, the irony.

  • Beautiful!

  • love Joe Sample/ George Benson collaboration awesome....

  • Master at work

  • @j4zzbox What are you talking about my friend.Joe Sample never have any stress. One of the best

  • I can't thank GB enough. guitarist I know the recorded solo pretty good ,check out errol earl george benson youtube channel

  • benson is the one of the best jazz guitarist in the world

  • Joe Sample on Keys. He was the leader of a group called The Crusaders that made many contemporary jazz hits in the 70's and 80's.

  • A true masterpiece... These guys know how to keep it going

  • i love this.

  • who's on the keys?

  • @ponchambrosio ...if im not mistaken .....he must be JOE SAMPLE on keyboard........

  • @mrLbelostrino

    you are absolutely correct

  • This guy has mastered the fretboard.

  • que cancion tan mas deliciosa, pocos como george, pocos

  • Respect

  • What a joke 16 Lady Gaga fans! Shame I should wash my mouth out I know for for mentioning genetically modified music on this page!

  • @2patero Ok, two things. First: Lady Gaga's isn't part of that "genetically modified music" you're talking about.

Second: I'm a Lady Gaga fan, as well as a George Benson fan, as an Art Zoyd fan, as a music fan. So please respect.

  • @Supernikomaru Ah sorry but she is the instigator of plastic music! It's all been done before by Cher and Madonna! I would Poker face! Plz lets not mention her mortal name on God's page! Sacrilege! lol

  • George is a master guitarist whatever he plays.

  • InFuckingcredible!

  • bellissima

  • not so sophisticated but so much feeling =D

  • @mikashred It's about as sophisticated as you can get. Maybe you are refering to the chord structure he's improvising over, because George's playing is full of elegance, grace, and sophistication.

  • @KABRIS1 i meant by this that his playing stay very melodic and doesn't get complex, like it often happens in Jazz. It's open to every one, even for those who don't play an instrument. That's the better way to do music, in my opinion. So yes, i completly agree with you ;)

  • I love the pentatonic switch towards the end. George, A man with a twisted taste.

  • horrible version, sounds like something youd hear on blackpools north pier..

  • If you don't know what jazz is and r void of the emotions that receive it, why dont you keep ur mouth shut and let the real beings savour the taste without no unnecessary and immature interruption from a non-existing, stimulus less e.t

  • @JOLA326 beautifully put, i have a musically ignorant friend, who thinks george benson sounds like elevator music, he just doesnt get it , but at least he doesn't leave mindless comments on here, this is another lovely arrangement by the master

  • @JOLA326 this just ruins a great song.its not jazz,its jizz...

  • @bobbyboymufc You have no taste.

  • my favorite song!!

  • No-one does it like Benson!!

  • I like everything except guitar in this song...

  • nice and smooth

  • A guitar virtuoso being backed being backed by no less a piano legend than Joe Sample in the performance of a song written by yet another legend can only deliver sheer and sublime listening pleasure.

  • soundspur U r so very rite n true. U hit the point dead on!

  • Jazz Guitar of the highest Calibre. This is normally a song but George Benson made it into an instrumental! Such talent that he can play anything he can sing, so if he lost his voice at a Concert he could fill in with his superb guitar playing and not let anybody down!

  • I didn't know Icecube is a drummer

  • This song reminds me that many people have had success and lost it all.

The actual theme of "lately" implies that it is where we are NOW rather than in the past that determines our success in life. Its not what you had or what you are going to have, it is basically a song which expresses the form of where we are "lately". Some people may be happy with their life or very successful "lately" but spare a thought for those who have lost it all, are heartbroken and defeated.

  • george bush is great...

  • I just like this man, he's a legend

  • I just like this man: he's a legend

  • THAT IS JUST SOME OF THE SICKEST GUITAR PLAYING EVER!!!

  • Almost cried at the end. His emotions are really expressed out through his playing. Thank you so much!

  • thumbs up

  • it sounds like musak from a elevator but hmmm mmm the guitar sounds sweet !!

  • these dislikers are mental,y ill

  • I, had met George in N.Y after a show Once .Only saying this ,cause He was super ; a real Spiritual soul and we talked like, we were old school Buds , he just was warm ,gracious, w/ No Pretense whatsoever, Peace..[.I hope I can Find the Book He signed] ....

  • @187prettyboy No need to, George is still going strong!

  • fantastic!

  • one m0:00re time!

  • Muy buena la versión a guitarra.

  • Look at the hispanic brother in the back on the Strat, working his ass off. You gotta be a bad mother hubbard to hold a guitar on the stage with George Benson.

  • How can we dislike this ?????????

  • Love this tune!... George -ous alright! He's a Legend!!!!

  • And my Favorite Piano player:Mr.Joe Sample......OH Yeah!!!

  • WTF...come on man...How can any man compete with Joe Sample and George Benson....add in a fat Troy Polamalu and a couple of blacks and that's all you need to make the old white bitches go crazy

  • does he only use ibenez guitars. all the videos of him have him playing ibenez i believe if im wrong let me know.

  • Magnifique !

  • the best!!!!!!!!!

  • whatr a neat performance

  • That is awesome!

  • Saw George live in Sydney and Brisbane early 1980's. My friends and I got invited backstage to catch up after the show. He was so down to earth.

  • amazing....really amazing

  • Understanding the true meaning of listening to music. It aint that hard just open your heart, and fill up that open space, and make that melody your own.No words needed, just your interpretation.Thats what George does..Thank you George !

  • i have chicken skin everywhere ! =)

  • @SexyItaliano20

    Even there? o_O

  • @JoshuaSnell3 yes..^^

  • amazing...what a touch...delightful

  • Beutiful guitar player, remembers me when I wa young.. good for us, also joe Sampe piano sounds like heaven

  • Beutiful guitar player, remembers me when I wa young.. good for us

  • Bravo to the gb-200!!

  • that almost made me cry, holy shit. lol. too good.

  • A very favourite Stevie Wonder song of mine : ) I thought it couldn't sound nice without the lyrics, but these two are amazing. Nowwwww. Joe SAmple issss za Mannn1!!

  • thaaaaa fuck?... Hooow... ? :0

  • ...I wonder what would've happened if the jazz/blues sensation was replaced instead of the black thug-life....maybe then MTV would still be playing real music instead of 'slap that hoe or I kill you' songs...

  • Beautiful :o)

  • @AICXCNIKAO Very nice..thanks so much for sharing this with me. :)

  • awesome George!!!!

  • So so brilliant. A classic song played by a master at work.

  • Extremely chill love it!

  • Brilliant, heartfelt, technically and rhythmically dazzling... With the band to back it up.

All done cleanly without a fuzz pedal and effects.

  • i'll play like this when i grow up;)

  • if only george and stevie would play and sing together... sigh!

  • wish i could play like that :( better practice those scales :D great song

  • with Wes gone so long , I can only thank God for sweet George.........

  • frissons garantis

  • GB is the GOAT (Greatest of all time)

  • It's soul....how he plays trumps the technical routine all day long.... he just feels it...

  • Benson is great, he has all the technique, but he's funky and melodic. Love the little flourish at 1:16.

  • Just look at him: he's overwhelmed by his own performance.

Not only his repertoire is made of beautiful compositions, he takes it to the highest with his twining smooth-paced signature style.

This makes me shudder of delight each time I play it

  • @nozoto I imagine that he's overwhelmed at the talent God has given him. At least I'd like to think so.

  • @porampo George would practice after a gig that stopped at say 2 Am ,go to the hotel and to practice tiill 6 am or more in he morning. Lonnie Smith told me this when I toured with Lou Donaldson in Spain for 17 days.. Plus playin 6 or 7 sets was normal in many clubs during his time. Pat Martino confirimed this..Miles Davis was one who said he would not play more then 2 sets, which is now common in may European clubs. two longer sets.

  • There are no words to describe George Benson... Here let me make a word... Scrumtrelessent !

  • 11 people missed the LIKE button...I feel sorry for them. This song is awesome and GB takes it to another dimension!

  • This is just one of the many reasons he is the best is that I have never heard a guitarist play ballads as well as George. NEVER!

  • bravo (george)

  • wish i could play like George :/

  • Bravo!! *clap clap clap*

  • Absolutely Amazing !!!

One of my favourite video :D

  • this was a nice set.......with the legendary Joe Sample of the Crusaders on Keyboards.

  • I love getting home and sit in front of the computer to have my soul musically fed by Mr. George Benson!!!

    Amazing!!!

  • I had the good fortune of meeting George backstage about 11 years ago after his amazing 1999 concert at the Paramount in Denver. I have been listening to George since 1979 - back when I was a kid learning to play jazz guitar. Without a doubt, he is one of the most humble, kind and genuine stars I have ever met. George is a true legend and his unique guitar mastery and golden voice will forever inspire this world. Thank you George Benson for inspiring my music career.

  • Bad wizard, hey you make guitar talk

  • legend

  • putting a clear tape on the F holes doesnt sound to be a bad idea and doesnt look bad also!

  • Well done gentlemen!!

  • my favorite jazz legendary guitar player... real great ;-)

  • Just Gorgeous

  • It's just "George-ous"! :)

  • @cykli21 haha genus! :)

  • ALWAYS LOVED YOU GEORGE AND ALWAYS WILL, YOU ARE A ONE OFF AND SO SMOOTH

  • Damn ! What a great performance !!

  • Fantastic

  • SHIT!!!

  • tout simplement, magique...."bravo" (george)

  • It should be a crime to ''unlike this''

This is just another level of music, Im in love!

  • Bloody fantastic. Prodigy who keeps getting better.

  • He carries on the tradition of the great late,WES MONTGOMERY for sure man...

  • George is so smooth, slipping notes all around you so fast you have to listen 2 or 3 times and still be awe struck. One of the true greats!!!!!

  • gotta love the camera angle at 3:26 hahahahaha

  • Its technically spot on but its sounds like music you would hear in a lift (elevator).

  • @yazzman13 you know, i've come to the conclusion that jazz actually IS elevator music! not because it belongs in a lift but because it elevates and stimulates the mind of those who listen intellectually

  • @kmurphy1527 Don't get me wrong. I like the odd bit of jazz. However music is best appreciated via the soul and not the mind. Listening to music intellectually is like eating champagne, caviar and lobster after it is has been put into a blender and made into a shake.

    A waste.

  • Sentimento e alma ele põe na execução de suas músicas!

  • George Benson, C.G.P.

  • @SamBlob only a few of them CGP out there

  • magic

  • Oh man you sound sooo sweet )

  • As if George wasn't enough for this concert, that's master pianist/keyboardist Joe Sample formerly with the Jazz Crusaders on piano. What a couple of jazz all stars! Thx for posting this.

  • this is the man that young aspiring guitarists should look up too. This man is the whole package, young aspiring guitarists should learn to appreciate this much more and not brush it off because it is not considered "popular music" within their generation.

  • @DUBXXX I agree and am sure many do

  • @DUBXXX you and I are on the same mind, with the only exeption that I am a 17 year old jazz guitar player and I love benson's music, him and joe pass inspired me to learn how to play jazz. So there is still a litlle bit of hope left for the future of jazz XD

  • Tape over top f hole to prevent feedback? No tape over bottom one because of difficulty in placing? Interesting.

  • He is really feeling the song. It is really good.
