  • Meryl will you marry me?

  • Jennifer Anniston has his "nose'.....

  • I didn't watch this movie. But do they end up together again?

  • @meanbluegreengirl101 nope but they make peace for the well being of their son

  • @meanbluegreengirl101 nope.. Dx

  • does anyone know the song played during the end credits?

  • i was there when this scene was shot, meryl thought her makeup was messed up due to the crying etc so she was asking how she looked but the director kept it in

  • No. The scene where Hoffman explains to his son that he still gets to visit him, after Streep's win, and the boy starts to cry. That scene was sadder.

  • the end leaves it for the audience to have their own interpretations.....joanna and teddy probably got back together

  • i used to watch this movie weekly when i was little

  • What a beautiful movie!

  • damn i am about 2 cry. movies dont do this not more

  • worst movie ending ever. completely obliterated meryl's character that she developed the entire film. the rest of the movie was good, but god damn what a shitty ending.

  • That 's a harsh assessment. Are you saying that by backing away at the end she weakened all th emotional growth that had occured to her? I think it's quite the opposite. She's proven a lot to herself by this point, but if someone wanted to argue that her wanting her son back bordered on selfish (she had every right to want him back) being that she abandoned him, what she's doing now if the least selfish thing she could possibly do because she knows it's best for the child

  • @dzanier Hollywood is marketing to a less intelligent audience welcome to multiculturalism...

  • @matrix49A Actually your racist tidbit is false. It has nothing to do with multiculturalism and everything to do with piracy and how easy it is to download movies. Less and less people are willing to pay for something they can get for free online. So Hollywood is taking less and less risks and going for sure things, the reason almost everything is now in 3D and has explosions that look cool on big screens. More people are opting to rent movies like dramas..etc..or just download.

  • @Silvergordikuki You must be a Ben Stiller fanboy/suckmonkey Hollywood is trash today. Nothing but Jewish rich kids of rich old Jews playing movie stars. Get a life watch older movies (B&W) and get an education.

  • @matrix49A this isn't about old movies (which proves my point, being that back then, it was not as easy to pirate movies the way we do today). this is about whats happening to movies today. Im not a fan of Ben Stiller, but it has nothing to do with his being Jewish. You are just too ingrained in your anti -semitism to see truth beyond your prejudices.

  • this movie was so sad.

i almost felt sorry for the dad

  • I freaking love her. :DD

  • This is one of those movies that broke me. Such a gorgeous film.

Thank you Dustin and Thank you Meryl.

  • Even though the credits aren't included in this video, do you know the name of the first song played in the credits?

  • were is the part, were he say's " Mommy left because of me billy" that was sad!

  • great movie but a sad ending because no one ever wins in these sort of situations especially divorces

  • bitch coulda saved every1 a lotta money

  • @werellstupid

HE could've saved everyone a lot of pain though....

  • people need to go out and see movies like this to let hollywood know we want good movies again. movies like "up in the air".

  • this is back when Hollywood actually had TALENT

  • The world's turned into a giant industry...

  • @Pistolero24

    i totally agree

  • No butter on the bacon, no beans on the bread.

  • This movie is outstanding.

  • @bobanddavid90 both Dustin hoffman & Meryl Streep won oscars for this film. the awards were well deserved

  • Why cant Hollywood make movies like this anymore? Because no one has a Soul. The soul is gone. Hollywood is into car explosion, intense sex leaving audiences uncomfortable, and adding absurd lanuage or over use of F Bombs thinking all 6 Billion People on the Planet behave that way.

  • @Mafia07407 your so right.i totally agree.

  • @Mafia07407 those good movies with soul are still being made, you just have to look a lot harder. like this year 'never let me go.' is coming out, check the trailer out, it looks incredible. =)

  • @Mafia07407 I disagree intense sex leaving audiences uncomfortable? No if that were true they would stop doing it that makes money. And a lot of people do use the F bomb much mroe than they should. The F word is a beautiful word

  • @enjoyitbro hollywood doesn't stop "doing it" because yes, it makes money. we live in an extremely materialistic world today; they'll do anything for $. most of the media today targets the youth. i would know, i'm 16. teens & adolescents love profanity, violence, and sex. movies these days glamorize all of those themes; however i'm not saying movies back in the 70's and 80's didn't. but i guess people today prefer crude humor over emotional movement...which i will never fully understand.

  • @Mafia07407 You want Hollywood to stop making crap. Stop illegal downloading. Which wont happen.

  • @Mafia07407 and that rumbling background noise also, that's all the same, in any movie with 'action'

  • @Mafia07407 So agree with you! Same goes for today's music. So sad...

  • @Mafia07407 Am I the only person who loves the irony of such a statement being made by a guy with the handle "MAFIA07407"?

  • @Mafia07407 Great comment, male or female - well said!

  • @Mafia07407

SOOOOO RIGHT! I agree with YOU!

  • True story - Kate Jackson was first offered this role, but due to her Charlie's Angels contract, had to pass on it!

  • According to IMDB, when Meryl Streep asks him how does she look, she thought the scene was over and was really asking how she looked, but the director kept it in the movie.

  • Movie directors love to make up things like that.

  • its not made up, watch dustin hoffman's interview in "Inside the Actors Studio" where he mentions it.

She whipped the mascara that was dripping off and asked him how she looked after the scene to which he replied "terrific" and the director liked it and said thats the way they will end the movie and so decided to include it, but it was a retake.

  • @court485 That's close to the truth. According to Hoffman, the scene was over, and the bit about "how do I look" was real and not scripted. But the director saw him say it to her and said "Say that in the film!" so they re-did it and added the part in.

  • @court485 lol, I spent about five minutes typing a comment about how Meryl was not actually acting at 1:50 and how the director kept it because he wanted to keep the realistic nature of the scene, when I looked down and saw you already mentioned it. lol. Was good though wasn't it.

  • @court485 Yes, Dustin Hoffman talked about that in Inside The Actor's Studio. He knew they were still rolling when it happened and she didn't.

  • @court485 Yes, that's true. Dustin Hoffman said in the 'Inside the actors studio' interview.

  • @court485 but why was she asking how she looked when she thought the scene was over? Did IMDB explain that, also?

  • i love her look when ted says she looks terrific.perfect ending.

  • I love this scene, it's so sad

  • wooow, meryl streep looks gorgeous.

  • Why did she leave him in the first place?

  • i think she hated that he was such a workaholic

  • Fabulous scene. Both actors are just so brilliant.

  • I LOvE Them!!!!!!!!!

  • Loved this movie, Hoffman deserved his Oscar. Did Streep get one for this (can't remember)? No special effects, no nudity (well, a teeny bit); no violence--just human drama and emotions. Why can't Hollywood turn out movies like this anymore? Well, I guess they can, but why WON'T they?

  • Nudity, special effects, and violence do not make a bad film. In some cases, I think nudity shows dedication to a role (i.e. The Reader, The Wrestler, Titanic, etc. etc.). Special effects are good when used in the right way (i.e. Benjamin Button, Forrest Gump). Violence is often essential to any storyline as well.

  • Yeah, violence

Like when Hoffman's kid fell down and hurt himself!

  • I'm fairly certain Streep won a Best Supporting for this film.

  • Yes, she won an Oscar for best Supporting Acress and forgot it on the back of the toilet! :-)

  • @wlhardy Well, they WON'T, because years of market research has shown that real plot lines and real drama are too much for the broadest possible audience. When the budget comes down, the guys at the top only give a green light to the things they think are going to sell the MOST tickets. That's why Hanna Montana has a singing career for example, because although its not real music, 10 year olds who don't need real music are the biggest CD and merch buying audience.

  • Meryl was pregnant with her son Henry in this scene. (sorry random piece of info)

  • Two of the most amazing actors ever in one amazingly powerful scene. No special effects, no guns, no chases no gimicks. Just two people in a lobby. Brilliant and classic.

  • Such a great movie. So sad though. You just end up feeling sorry for all three of them. At least it had a happy ending though.

  • I agree. Leaves you feeling that maybe all is not lost, after all :)

  • love this movie

  • OH MY GOD!!! Thank you for posting! I just loved this movie & it made me cry!!

  • she is just absolutely stunning in every way in this movie..... love it
