  • Greetings from your Antiochian Orthodox brother in Texas. The grace of Christ Jesus our God be with us all.

Lovely Liturgy. How similar is it from that of St. John Chrysostom?

  • In hye badmutyun tbrotz they told us the hood represented the spires of the church itself.

  • Are there a lot of us in San Francisco? I live in New Jersey, but have thought about relocating to California to be near Armenian community. Lost Angeles is too hot for me. Is SF a big Armo community?

  • How beautiful :'''''''')

  • Thanks so much for the upload, I was at the service and watching this again brought tears to my eyes.

  • Where is the Blessed Sacraement being kept on the High Altar?

  • there is a small altar to the left of the main altar built in to the wall.

  • after the sacrement is distributed to the faithful, it is kept in a special chalice that has a lid. (remember that the Armenian Orthodox Church distributes the body and blood the same time... so there is only 1 chalice). After that, the special chalice (sealed with the lid) is put on top of the alter and covered with a beautiful cloth until it is revealed and used again during the next mass.

  • 1:30 that looks so cool.

  • The Guy to the Left of the Archbishop looks Anglican at 5:20

  • Glory to Jesus Christ. Let some day all the Orthodox Churches reconcile in Christ's name!

  • Amen.

    Deus Lo Vult.

  • Awesome....

  • I think they have more in common in terms of vestments with the west, than the east... but it does not mean they believe the same shit.

  • The Miter is reminiscent of the Bishop of ROme's miter...any connection there?

  • During the Crusades there was a lot of interaction between the Latin Crusader Kingdoms established in Palestine and the Armenians, hence resemblance of the mitre and use of pipe organs in Armenian churches.

The mitre itself is not unique to Western Catholicism and is found in other Oriental Orthodoxy like the Copts and Jacobites too.

  • Kind of. The Miter for all bishops in Christain demoninations in apstolic succession are a symbol of there office.

  • What's with the black hood and purple cope(?) in the beginning? What is the origin of this?

  • I assume that u r not armenian. The black hood is administred through a special ceromony after a celibrate (non-married) priest is ordained. It is a sign that that the priest has closed himself from the rest of the world and has devoted himself completly to God and the work of the church.

Both the cape and the hood have many many spiritual and church related meanings and origins but my answer just gives a very simple explanation

    hope it helps =D
