  • Awesome band, and this song is amazing, man do I have a crush on the bass player!!

  • Everyone here just needs to lay their heads down to see the numbers flow by.

  • This is such a great song and these dudes below just want to argue about Nirvana....

  • guys, to me, i use to NAGG all day about how nowadays everything mainstream that went up on mtv or etc would SUCK , but now i live in a new world, where i dont look at whatever tv is on,on my car, the only radio stasion is indie and alternative rock, and youtube is just indie ! live life and focus on whats amazing :DD

  • Nirvana=overrated

    SSPU=underrated

  • @lonesomexheartbrokn

I believe they're both vehemently underrated, considering what they deserve.

Nirvana gets attention and recognition, sure, but only really because of the conspiracy surrounding Kurt's death and the repeats of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come As You Are" on radio stations and so on. Kids these days think they're cool to like 90's bands, they don't actually like the music or even understand it, they listen to it to produce an image to their peers, for the most part.

  • @Bendrix27

Far as I'm concerned if you didn't see the OJ verdict live on tv or don't know what rebook pumps are then you're obsession with the 90's is just a fad. They see acts like Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Nickleback and they'll throw on some Alice in Chains or Nirvana in order to fit in with their black nail polish and mascara wearing, blue haired friends. But ask them to name a Liz Phair or a Everclear song and you'll get a blank stare.

  • @lonesomexheartbrokn

I've met people that claim to be huge Nirvana fans, but then I mention a few slightly obscure songs and they have absolutely no idea, then they say, "Oh, well, I've only really heard Nevermind", this is the case with so many "fans", people claim to be something that they're not, that is the society, the world we live in today. Most people are fake, they conjure up an idea and after a while, start believing their own egotistical bullshit.

  • the chick in the band is sooo fuckin cute, dont know what is about her besides the fact shes in one of the best bands ever. im in love <333

  • this is one the best bands i've ever heard.the only band that tops them is Nirvana, wihich makes me kinda wonder how some one would dislike this

  • Simply beautiful.

  • This song sounds different from the album one, maybe im just listening to it to much, but i cant!!

  • This is a Smashing Pumpkins song. period.

  • @kjacobi

    You're a complete idiot. Period.

  • 57,790+ views an only 2 dumbasses! =D

    SSPU FTW!!! :)

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKES THIS?!?!? I SWEAR there is some son of a bitch that goes around disliking every single thing that comes into view...

Look at the Dog rescued at sea, three weeks after the Japan earthquake just floating around, it has about 4 dislikes....

  • this band tokes ounces for sure

  • Hella Shoegaze. But shoegaze and grunge are pretty similar, I mean with the very distorted guitars and even the vocals are pretty similar too.

  • Makes me want to listen to Sonic Youth

  • Here lies the replay button.

  • such a good song

    my sister showed me it

  • not sure why people get offended by the pumpkins comparison but if you've ever listened to the two bands, its an OBVIOUS one and this songs as good as anything on gish

  • i would love to have the silversun pickups theme song my life.

  • In this song Silversun Pickups sound like a hybrid of Nirvana + Smashing Pumpkins. But let's not get ahead of our selfs and say that they are the Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins of today, they are an amazing band but will never be able to have the same impact either of those bands had on our society as Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins did.

  • @pokabeb They don't strike me as Nirvanaesque, they don't have punk/grunge vibes. More My Bloody Valentine/"Shoegazey".

  • i was beginning to question why i thought SSPU sounded like SP and then i heard this song

the guitar is very reminiscent of somethin in Mellon Collie, and i mean VERY!

    both in style and sound

but i dont care, both are FANTASTIC bands that i really like and they both have their own thing going

  • @changobilly22 Eh, sounds like a "lost" EP between Gish and Siamese Dreem.

  • 2 douchebags?!

  • @jesuhead1974 probably accidental, come on, speak up!

  • For those who say that these guys are not the new Pumpkins... Lazy Eye is "1979" & "Drown" combined. This song (currently playing) could have easily been on Twilight to Starlight. "Royal We" is a Siamese Dream song.

The lyrics, music style, and the fact that they don't sound like anyone else today puts them in that category. Nobody says that they sound the exactly same, but they are both kind of breakthroughs. In 1996 nobody sounded like "Tonight, Tonight" nobody now sounds like SSPU's today.

  • I saw them live last march.. they are by far the best live performers ive ever seen

  • I need to see this preformed live, like, now

  • @bideomanlol I gotta agree with you there.

  • best song by one of my favorite bands

  • Comment removed

  • This peice is a story and a song, and it sounds great, so calm and relaxing.

  • Frankly this band is not from our planet earth. They actually came here from a planet where a silver suns abound and pick you up into the heights to explore the 'go inbetweens'. I still stick to the fact that they are aliens. Humans aren't able to create this beauty. Maybe they're angels in disguise.

  • Saw these guys live in ft myers FL. GREAT show! If you get a chance go see em!

  • the shortest 7:37 in my life...where I've been?

  • Pikul is such a great album. it took a bit for me to like it, but it really grows on you.

  • far from my vision of the two bands however i don't understand the reason of this comparation. shoegaze doesn't make a point.

  • smashing pumpkins is a good band, but I don't think they should be compared to Silversun Pickups. They sound similar on a cursory listen, but really they are totally different. I happen to like SSPU much better, but that is just my opinion. Smashing pumpkins kindof lost their way after their first few albums. SSPU is still churning out awesome music.

  • smashing pumpkins! muse! blah! blah! blah! , can we not all agree! sspu rock!!!

  • SSPU!!! U don't like um F off and go B#t$ch eleswhere

  • @stone508 , ok man , it is just your opinion

the good things in this world are not for everyone

    Peace

  • Bendrix.....you really don´t know what you are talking about..... same musics of this band sounds like smashing pumpkins , but really... this is shit if you compare to smashing...

And please ...if you understand a bit of music and the art that cames from music ...you will never talk about billy corgan like that...

P.S. i m not saying that silversun pickups are bad because i like some of their musics -...but you can´t compare to smashing pumpkins level

  • Corgan is a dick. He should have killed himself. The pumpkins can't be compared to sspu because sspe are above. I like the pumpkins, but they're not that good.

  • @deathsrecon ok man , it is just your opinion

the good things in this world are not for everyone

    Peace

  • Comment removed

  • Over the top? Not at all, if anything, I expressed a lot less anger than I was planning to. If you were offended by the Billy Corgan comment, then wake the fu*k up and do some research on that band you love so much, Corgan is among the biggest pieces of dog shit to hit it big in the music industry, but hey, the crap bands seem to get the most attention, so I expect nothing more. Put it this way, Smashing Pumpkins makes me want to kill and die, Silversun Pickups makes me want to heal and live.

  • lol Bendrix, I dont think you know what youre talking about.

  • LOL!!! Nice...

  • The only really remaining talent or passion in music nowadays resides in the music of The Silversun Pickups, Incubus and Tool, almost all other bands even relatively worth listening to a single note of are broken up or long dead.

  • @Bendrix27 never listened to muse... muse before black holes

  • The only band mentioned so far here that deserves to have their name put in the same sentence as Silversun Pickups is Nirvana, I know if Kurt was still around today, he would love this band, they are, in a way, this generations Nirvana, if only they were getting more attention, but majority of our pathetic society listens to music that matches their own uselessness.

  • @Bendrix27 ........ alittle over the top no?

  • Have you heard Red? My fave bands are: SSPU, Red, and Interpol.

  • @Bendrix27

"The majority of our pathetic society listens to music that matches their own uselessness" That's the best thing I've heard in awhile. Nice.

  • @SinisterCocoa i agree ;)

  • @SinisterCocoa

i dont get why people think that one band is the greatest and the only band that matters. dont get me wrong, i LOVE Silversun Pickups, and i really do think that they're the greatest band ever, but im not ganna go around bragging about it, and saying that everyone els is "useless". everyone has there different opinions about things. the world would be a boring place if all bands were like the Silversun Pickups. im just sayin. so don't sound so closed minded about music.

  • @Bendrix27

yeah SSPU is this generations nirvana cept the lead singer isn't a self absorbed jackass drug addicted whiner who constantly complained about being famous (all the while doing photo shoots for magazines and interviews on mtv.)

  • @sakonhagakure

You ever tried finding facts, instead of swallowing media contrived bullshit. It's conjecture, kid, do a little research, you will find that your opinion is severely misinformed.

  • @Bendrix27

Who the fuck are you calling kid you stupid son of a bitch? It's a known fact that Kurt Cobain didn't want certain fans listening to his music, was a heroine addict, hated the fact that he was famous, and the whole attitude of "i'm not doing this for the money I'm doing it for the love of the music" started with this egotistical douche bag. If he didn't want to be famous he should've stayed his junky ass off stage and off MTV.

  • @Bendrix27

couldnt agree more....took the words right out of my mouth

  • @Bendrix27 I would relate them more to Smashing pumpkins than nirvana

  • @Bendrix27 except nirvana was over repetitive and frankly annoying dave grohl is a much better musician then kurt

  • @bideomanlol thats your opinion and i respect it, i like both nirvana and foo fighters, you say nirvana was repetitive but that was the point. in literature tere is something called alliteration. the repitition of two or more words to make those words really stand out and have purpose. nirvana wasnt repetitive they were driving that sound into you, its a pop music tactic, " repitition = people remember" combine that with kurts metal and punk inspired style and you have the new jesus :)

  • @Bendrix27 Damn right!!!! I just bumped into this band today and dig em right away!!! their sound have that 90's kick ass alternative rock feel that I love!!! cheers!!!

  • @Bendrix27 if kurt was alive he would like this song for damn sure. this generation. my generation. no nirvana's. not yet.

  • @Bendrix27 Lol @ musical elitism

  • @Bendrix27 sinister cocoa is right.....best thing in a while

  • @Bendrix27

    SO True..

Being the Fantastic Black man I am..They are the only thing i listen to while driving and etc, and i always get shyt for it but honestly i feel they are the future of music and I feel sorry for people who dont see that., Cant get enough , and caNNNOOTTT wait for their next album!!

  • @Bendrix27 I agree completely, but I would just like to state they're more of the later Nirvana than the earlier. Nirvana's early stuff was supposed to be simple, whereas Silversun is pretty damn layered and complex with effects and such.

  • @Bendrix27 yes finaly the truth

  • Comment removed

  • god i love them!

  • Great song specially when you driving with your girlfriend on the road on a convertible!!!!!!!!!!! I just can't explain the feeling of it............

  • I'd love to see Silver Sun on tour with the Kings of Leon. Both of these bands are paving the way for a new sound that has yet to be fully appreciated fully by the masses...

  • "Said I've been to the moon and the stars and all the go inbetweens.."

So tell me:what else is new?

    =/

  • Does anyone else find this Nirvana-esque, in the song writing and acoustic especially, its like.. staind meets perfect circle meets nirvana .

  • I definately hear the Niravana!

  • This band sounds nothing like Staind or A Perfect Circle. Broaden your musical horizons and you may find much more talented and worthy bands to reference. At the very least Silversun Pickups has much more in common with Smashing Pumpkins than any other mainstream radio band.

  • lol if you can't extract the similiarities you're just a little off man...I'll agree with the fact that thee are some better bands but Silversun being on the pumpkins level is kind of a joke..

  • I love laying in my hammock drifting aimlessly listening to this tune... My nirvana.

  • AAANNND here is the best.

  • this is really really really great!!!

  • You all are right! Lulling song...has me trapped. First time I've heard it and I already want to hear it over and over again!

  • This song has been stuck in my head for hours, but I can't get tired of it:) I'm a bit of an insomniac and this is how I feel when the whole world is sleeping around me, lonesome and peaceful...."I've been to the moon and the stars and the go in betweens"....You know that color purple right after the sun sets? That's what this song would be if it were a color:)

  • @South4TheSummer right on man! i feel the same way!

  • I could (and have) listened to this song on repeat for about an hour at a time without wanting to change it.

This is how you make a song that is more instrumental that lyric and make it great.

  • if you like this band check out dancing linda on my space a band from the early 90s ahead of there time kicks ass holio

  • had a depressing day... came across this... and instantlly was gone... felt so relieved

  • makes me think of building nothing out of something

  • thsi si one of those songs that makes me comfortably depressed

  • Is anyone hearing the weird subtle differences between this recording and the one on the cd? In this one the snare drum and the vocals are loud, the guitars are quiet and there are no synths at all. It sounds like an unfinished version that hasn't had the levels worked out yet lol.

This is my favorite song by SSPU. It conjurs up so much imagery; driving at night in the desert. Lonely, desolate, but haunting and beautiful; the lyrics are like a cryptic lullaby which somehow is really soothing...

  • this song puts me to sleep but it still is a awesome song!!!..i wanna here some covers by sspu!!!

  • How about you buy the albums?

  • no thank you.

  • Awesome song, awesome EP, awesome band. No other band like 'em. Very unique sound and lyrics. And like most technically sound bands, they get very little commercial exposure. And that's just fine by me. Rock on.

  • actually i thought they were kinda blowing up now. they headline alot of festivals and stuff, seen em on rotation on mtv. hopefully they dont sell out!

  • you're probably right. I wouldn't know, Lazy eye and Well thought out twinkles were the only songs I'd heard by them a couple years ago. Haven't listened to the radio or watched much TV since then. But yeah, hopefully they will remain...pure? Ugh, that didn;t make me sound like some kind of music elitist did it?

  • Reminds me of Smashing Pumpkins. This is what Smashing Pumpkins would be if they didn't make bad music... after Machina, they went downhill.

  • im mad confused whats this song about??????????

  • whatever you want it to be

  • I think it's a metaphor for humanity. In this age of reason and technology, we think we know it all. "Son," he said "Son, how you've only begun, on the mile, on the mile, on the mile..." We ain't seen nothin' yet.

  • anyone know what this song is about?

  • this band is awesome <3

  • What are they looking at... Hmm.. I am guessing its a flying doughnut

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    That's great

  • their soft songs remind me of the band team sleep...

  • THIS song reminds me of the band HUM... the STARS song.... (that's a good thing)

  • god this has to be my favorite pickups song

  • does anybody know any

other bands that sound like this?

  • is this one not good anough for u?

  • if they werent good enough

i rthink i wouldve said something negative

abput them. dont you think? i just asked if

there were any other bands that sound like this one?

  • im sorry i was joking too sometime people dont get my jokes :(

  • My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, Ride, Pale Saints, Slowdive, Chapterhouse, The Radio Dept, Sea Wolf, Autolux, Cold War Kids, Shout Out Louds.

  • Check out Built To Spill. These guys remind me of those guys.

  • Maybe "The Pixies"

  • I always thought this song sounded a lot like Gish-era Smashing Pumpkins.

I agree with the guy who suggested The Pixies.

  • The Smashing Pumpkins

    I think

  • this song reminds of my youth and how i have matured over time..

  • very like roger waters - music from the body...

    great stuff

  • Yeah, good call. There other songs remind me of the Smashing Pumpkins.

    I really dig this band.

  • after reading some of these comment i think everyone gets the idea that they sound A BIT like billy corgan and pink floyd. these guys are like the chillest band to listen to stoned...

  • hell yeah

  • Yes i Gree remuhniscent is thay arr of Pumpkins but i think they sound original as well I love their Feeling this is just chillin Music I lova all of Pikul! Pikul is Awesome : ) :) "Grown old it seemS.." ;) ;)

  • This is possibly my favorite song by SSP. I would love to wake up to this song every morning. The only other song I would do that for would be Everything in its Place by Radiohead on Kid A.

  • Love this song. BTW, dude, they took my video down. I'm gonna post it back up in a month or so.

  • there is a long path between PF and SSP.

I think they are good new band but not in the level of pink floyd. u wanna compare a band with pink floyd ok, compare it to radiohead, that is a great kick ass 20 year old band who is still great just like Pink floyd

  • they sound like a mix of a bunch of stuff like oh i dunno sonic youth with my bloody valentine and possibley a small bit of the pumpkins. good music tho

  • This song reminds me of Cherry by SP

  • definitely my bloody valentine, and somewhat sp, i don't really hear pink floyd though, the spaceyness is there but it's.. different i guess., idk really

  • One of my favourite songs ever. They're amazing, they really really are. Thank you for the music :]]

  • Pink Floyd had concept albums. They're entire album was "one song"-symphony and each song was a chapter or movement. These guys have great singles but not concept albums.

  • hey do these guys seem like the modern pink floyd?

  • Not to my ears. I think Tool goes in that spot. Don't like em' but they are like the generation X's Floyd. Except without the amazing as shit guitar solos.

  • tool...yea i think u might be right...tools alright but eh not for me. pink floyid... asome.

  • if anything these guys remind me of the smashing pumpkins. and yeah tool is like a mixture of a modern day pink floyd and led zepp. they might not have the those catchy solos, but they have their own sound and awesome lyrics. great band

  • i agree. u just name some of my favorite bands, and i do think they all have something in comin, but i dont think its the sound. i believe they all just make good music. I've given up on trying 2 label things. i find it kinda takes the magic away.

  • smashing pumkins? na i ont so..maybe the voice but thats it.

  • yeah, but another thing that reminds me of them is how much gain they use. I mean there's so much distortion in the majority of their songs, just like the pumpkins. also, the female bassist and stuff, but regardless, they're an awesome band.

  • have u ever listened to siamese dream! check it out and u might change ur mind! i dont know too much about sp, but this song reminds me of that album!

  • and i think because more people dont know it makes it more personal

  • fucking awesome!!

  • wow.... there isnt a word to describe the beautie of this song...

  • These guys are like a great version of the Smashing Pumpkins. Word.

  • im sorry, i dont think that comparison gives these guys justice, just because hes got a billy corganish voice... i really just dont see it

  • i wouldnt make that comparison because of Brian's voice, but rather the guitar distortion and laid back nature of their songs

  • this song is amazing

  • One of their best songs, yet overshadowed by Lazy Eye. This song deserves to be heard by more than 800 people.

  • Lazy Eye is great because it's such a damn easy song to play. :P

  • ya its a wonderful song

  • to bad this song isn't more out there

  • that was stunning
