LOL i didnt even get to test drive mine when i bought it private seller would not let have a go... i was 19 and had a old ford capri 2.0 s...... when i 1st drove it i was so surprised (front wheel drive was new to me ) my mates just got a 83 gold hatch SRi and i had a drive.... felt terrible by todays cars but made me smile too.... happy days my friend.... think now there is less than 100 registered in uk .. just have good memories of this car.....
I had one of these 'cos the SRi ate XR3is and RS 2000 alive! It was also (and more importantly to me) peanuts to insure by comparison! I think at the time the Escort was typically for a 19 year old £800 to £1000+ fully comp! Mine was about £400ish,bargain! Don't think many people realised what a top rocket the SRi was.
@apa37 with u all the way on that one... had a red saloon all my mates with XR2 and 3's laughed.. untill we done the traffic light GP..also they kept getting pulled from old bill.. Not me lol no bullshit had a sierra xr 4x4 level pegging from 4 sets of lights untill my clutch refused to give me anymore gears.... love the SRi (A579YBO)
@PROTEK123 I look on e bay from time to time and think "I gotta buy it"! My one was B703 WDV . One day i'll get one and go for a meat loaf induced burn! Hey I believe you with the Sierra,in '91 I had a bit of a tussle with four police senators on the m25. OK I was over the limit but the car gave a good account of herself and they had to ram me to stop me! The road was empty (it was 3 am) and i was able to outmanouvere and out accelerate all of 'em!
love how there advertising the sri but it jumps the poverty spec of the rivals, wonder why they didnt use the xr4x4 or the montego turbo lol
not the best hot hach in its day but i do have a soft spot for them, i cant remember the last time i saw 1 on the road. i remember as a kid my next door neighbours son got 1 for his 18th birthday a 130 saloon i used to look over the fence and think thats sooooooo nice.
