But I believe that a translation, and specialy with subtitles is never inapropriate, hince it allow people who like the song, but do not understand the words, to fully understand it

Between British English and American English, too, there is a definite difference, and I don't think that the classic British films require translation for the Americans.

One of my favourite movies. In the video clip Alla is in her 50’s. The clip was made much later than the movie where she sang all the female songs and Barbara Brilska played the main female role. No idea where these subtitles come from. There is a wonderful translation in Bulgarian by Ivan Nikolov, published in 1972. It’s a pity they didn’t use it.

But as poem progresses, it becomes apparent that all the safety net that such affair provides, is inexistent and the lyrical character yarns for real love that, unfortunately, in this case doesn't exist. This poem is written by a very talented poetess and ought to be translated by a real poet. But I will try...
